America at the end of 2014 is in the strange position of having strengths that no one had even counted on

Its oil industry has produced a cornucopia of energy in despite of administration obstruction.

It’s space industry and science are poised to lay the foundation for the commercial exploitation of space. It is, despite everything, in better shape than Europe and in far better condition than Japan.
A new American century may be in the works just when the intellectuals had written it off. The US may is led by unimaginative elites who have no idea what to do with these strengths except tax them. Yet that may be fortunate, almost as if God had blessed America with leaders who are too dumb to know they are.

Your Say

Speaks to "I got a million miles of highway under my ass".

Ours is still a nation of winners, (We've just been handicapping ourselves so the other nations won't get discouraged.)

We have lousy if not criminal leadership, horrible finances, weakened military, bloody dissention with several minority groups, wretched slums, millions of newly legal aliens that are diseased and should be integrated into the workforce, queers and dopers and all kinda dingbats running around and shooting their mouths off.

All these handicaps and yet, WE ARE THE BEST NATION ON THE PLANET. There are plenty of good folks of all colors and genders and ages that patiently wait for the riff raff and idiots to be taken down and got out of the way. Then we will see a renaissance like the period after WWII.

Hmm, maybe a good war would clear away all the dead wood.
