Federal Snipers Train Guns on Family For Filming Cattle: "Outside the Bounds of Designated First Amendment Area" [Bumped]

Federal snipers with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) trained guns on members of a family yesterday
after they dared to stop and take video footage of cattle outside the bounds of a designated “First Amendment Area,” before arresting one of the men for non-compliance. The cattle were being rounded up by BLM officers as part of a crackdown on Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, who has refused to pay “grazing fees” demanded by the feds as a result of a re-classification of 600,000 acres of federal land in northeastern Clark County which Bundy claims has been in his family for generations. - - SHTFPLAN

Your Say

Soviet tactics performed by Federal wimps. When will the federalists start killing Americans?

I'm so young I remember when the whole nation was a first amendment area.

Tyranny will continue until attitudes improve.

When people realize the feds are going to take EVERYTHING, some people will resist and die in the process. We are in the first true civil war the United States has experienced. The shooting is coming soon. Review your history.

Those Feds needed to be surrounded, ordered to lay down arms and leave the area. That confrontation then would have escalated to where the Government would be forced to make a decision as to how far it is willing to go.

If it wants an outright Revolution, it might just get one; no telling how many of the Feds would actually make war on citizens.

Some will, that is guaranteed. The number is open to a guess. Let see if Obama wants to see just how many will back his hand.

He may find himself spending the last two years of his Administration hiding in a rat hole like Saddam did.

WTF? What is a designated first amendment area? Is it like the Romulan Neutral Zone?

How can this be?

The BLM has pretty much always been wacko but this is sick.

"As we reported earlier, the feds have now started rounding up Bundy’s cattle in the name of protecting a supposedly endangered species, the desert tortoise, forbidding Bundy from interfering or even entering the vast area. The case is quickly turning into another iconic battle between big government and a besieged family."

The Forest Service and the BLM are now captives of the Watermelons. (Green on the outside, Red on the inside.) Foxnews featured another Nevada rancher in a program entitled, Enemies of the State," where they showed how the Feds are harassing people who don't toe the line. This rancher beat the Feds in court, but is still being harassed because the Feds have appealed the case to the 9th Circuit where "they always win."

The Endangered Species Act seemed a noble thing when it was passed, but it has provided huge power to the Green movement. The EPA was also supposed to be a good thing. It is now an active arm of the Watermelons as well. They are using lawfare to shut down farmers, ranchers, loggers, miners, oil/gas producers, manufacturers, and other productive members of what used to be a dynamic economy.

This BLM armed activity against peaceful citizens is really beyond the pale. Shades of Ruby Ridge and Waco.

There are two sides to this story. The rancher is trying to claim some right over the public land. I don't think this is or should be legal. The BLM allows ranchers to graze cattle on the public land and they charge a fee for it. Additionally the BLM decides which land they will allow grazing on and exclude some land from cattle grazing. I really don't see any other way to manage the public land. On the other side the BLM is being a little overbearing. This man has refused to comply and has gotten numerous legal actions against him and has been given plenty of opportunity to remove his cattle from the public land but he refused to comply. The BLM has the right to evict the cattle and to protect themselves while doing it. But they are not doing themselves any favors with the heavy handed tactics. This is NOT Ruby Ridge or Waco.

In addition to everything else, last year they decided that since they can't afford to shelter more desert tortoises that they would euthanise them. So it really isn't about the tortoises.

Posted by: pbird at April 10, 2014 8:02 AM

The land was only recently declared "public" as I understand it, and this guy's has been grazing on this land for generations, he claims.

Its not as easy to call as GoneWithTheWind is trying to make it.

Out west here we've been crapped on by the federal government for over 100 years and peoples' tolerance is reaching a breaking point.

Who trains a sniper rifle on unarmed people for filming?

Who surrounds a rancher and family for rent reimbursement?

Seems much like the story I read today about the family burglarizing cars at the USAF museum, except they weren't burglarizing and the AF overreacted by pulling out the pistols. Little kids were present.

If you are law enforcement, and you are suspicious, you know where your sidearm is, but don't go up to a car drawn. #%^*

I know how these people work. In 1998, I owned a share of irrigation water (along with about 100 other property owners) in an irrigation system that was 75 years old. Out of the blue we were served an injunction ordering us to cease and desist using our water until we could prove that our system was not endangering salmon runs. The price to do that: $250,000 or $2500 per landowner. We raised the money and the study was done. The outcome: The water temperature increased by one degree (from about 42 degrees to 43 degrees) from the intake from a glacial stream until the discharge some seven miles downstream. The irrigation water feeding back into the main river (Wenatchee River) amounted to about 1/50th of the volume in the river. The affect on the main river temperature was negligible. However, the Green Weenies obtained another injunction from a friendly judge and demanded that we cover our seven miles of ditch (at a cost of $1 million) or cease and desist. Once again, we owners decided to raise the money and keep our irrigation rights, but our lawyer advised that the Green Weenies would be back because it was their goal to eventually eliminate all such man made property alterations. This encounter was one reason why I sold out and moved on.

The Sierra Club has stated, not openly in the media of course, that their use of the Snail Darter to deny irrigation water to San Joaquin Valley farmers is not so much to protect the fish as to shut down farming in the San Joaquin Valley. Why? Because, in their opinion, it is not the natural state of that valley. I know people cannot believe these Green Weenies can be so anti-human and anti-progress, but they are. And the Park Service [remember the government shutdown when the NPS locked old people in Old Faithful Lodge?] Forest Service, BLM, and EPA are full of them now. They've got the Endangered Species Act, lawyers/friendly judges, guns, and the financial power of the Federal government behind them. Much of their harassment is not well-publicized because they work on individuals who usually, when faced by the behemoth, sell out and walk away. As did I. For someone who has been on a ranch or farm for 75 to 100 years, this is not going down well.

The Nevada rancher has lost in court, but he knows the game has been rigged against him. The Feds are trampling on him. I know he's fighting a losing battle, but I understand his position and just hope that he doesn't end up dead or in prison.

The BLM forces (armed BLM forces, no less) clashed with supporters for Bundy, and tasered some people including a pregnant woman and a guy with cancer. That would be PR death for a Republican president but Bill Clinton proved you can murder Americans and get away with it as a Democrat.

This is not about turtles, it is about fracking leases. It stinks to high heaven. Ann Barnhart is only looking at one aspect. Casey is right, have you seen the photos of the fire power the feds have brought in? I cannot believe this is happening in my beloved country. Sad.

Another take on the Bundy Ranch. Plus an interview directly from the horse's mouth, Cliven Bundy. Read article first then scroll down for interview. I betcha Dingy Harry Reid and his connections with the BLM is up to his eyeballs in this.

Posted by: Magnolia at April 11, 2014 12:17 PM

There is more! Harry Reid's stench is that of a rotting corpse.

Posted by: Leslie at April 11, 2014 3:17 PM

Keep in mind the federal govt owns approximately 1/3 of all land inside the US. In Nevada the feds own nearly 90% of all land.

What would you think if your neighbor claimed to be bankrupt AND owned 1/3 of the city he lived in?

Good Old Boy Harry Reid might end up sleeping with the fishes:

"Reid and Chinese solar venture - He and his oldest son, Rory, are both involved in an effort by a Chinese energy giant, ENN Energy Group, to build a $5 billion solar farm and panel manufacturing plant in the southern Nevada desert... His son, a lawyer with a prominent Las Vegas firm that is representing ENN, helped it locate a 9,000-acre desert site that it is buying well below appraised value from Clark County."
Marcus Stern at Reuters

"Land rush - Harry Reid worked BLM to literally change the boundaries of the tortoise’s habitat to accommodate the development of his top donor, Harvey Whittemore. Whittemore was convicted of illegal campaign contributions to Senator Reid. Reid’s former senior adviser is now the head of BLM. Reid is accused of using the new BLM chief as a puppet to control Nevada land... BLM says they supersede whatever agreement Bundy had prior; they demanded that he reduce his living, his thousand-some-odd head of cattle down to a tiny herd of 150."

Good old Harry, give him another shovel or tell him to dig his hole faster. 4GW can work for us with idiots like him.
