How can I be "€˜Right-wing"€™ when....

Why the Left hates families: MELANIE PHIILLIPS reveals how the selfish sneers of Guardianistas made her see how the Left actively fosters - and revels in - family breakdown... How can I be "€˜Right-wing"€™ when

I am driven by the desire to make a better world, stand up for right over wrong and look after the most vulnerable in society? Rather, I fight the Left on its very own purported moral high ground, which I once believed we all shared, but which I came to realise it had most cynically betrayed.

Your Say

Wonderful, courageous writing. Britain's devolution is more insidious than ours, with the worm having had more time to burrow through the culture. We still have a chance -- though I think it'll take the form of a division of the country -- but I think Britain (sorry, I mean the U-effin'-K) is, with most of the rest of Europe, history.

Of course. Loyalty to a family might trump loyalty to the State. We can't have that.

One of the saddest things is how wrong the left is about the right; how utterly, completely off base and mistaken they are about what we believe, desire, aim for, and dream of. They just have no idea, all they have is the evil straw man they built up and scream at daily at the behest of their commissars.

And if you try to help them understand, they sneer at you and know deep down what you really think but won't say, the secret evil darkness and hate in your heart that you harbor and they know about even if it never shows and you say the opposite.

The times they happen to agree with us, they still disagree, figuring its some secret evil plot or way to confuse and disarm people. Its ridiculous, its the kind of mindless, knee-jerk hate that book burners and witch burners alike shared, the sort of people who grab pitchforks to burn the scientist because he says the world isn't flat and the sun is the center of the solar system.

They are exactly who they claim to despise and oppose. They are everything they hate.

It's been pointed out, by Chesterton and others, that those who do the most harm are the ones who "benevolently" force others to do things "for their own good". That pretty well describes the Left. Add that to the destruction of the nuclear family actively aided and abetted by these same lefties, and you have the dystopia that Melanie Phillips describes so eloquently. We're not that far gone yet, but not for lack of trying on the part of the Left.
