No matter how much the media swooned over Obama,

it will feed him to the dogs in a minute if the domestic or international situation gets to the point that it did for Bush toward the end.

Any number of events, including a complete health care disaster or a series of Taliban victories in Afghanistan could bring that on. But even if nothing that big happens, the malaise will likely mean that Obama will not get the Great Leader sendoff that some of his supporters imagined he would. The media isn't loyal to Obama. It's loyal to the left and it will destroy Obama for the sake of its bigger goals. -- Sultan Knish: The Post-Obama Democratic Party

Let me be the first to point out that what we may be seeing now is the collapse of the Obama bubble.

In economics, a bubble collapses when potential return on investment becomes widely understood as not justifying the costs of the investment.

Translate that into political terms: the media have invested very, very heavily in Obama since 2007. Of a sudden, they may be understanding that not only have they gotten nothing back in return that justifies the heavy investment of their time, efforts - and most of all their reputations - they almost certainly never will.

I think that in their minds, the media factotums are already starting to survey who in the Democrat party is the next investment. For the media have certainly not become conservative, they are just as Leftist as ever. But we may be witnessing their divestment of Obama.

They are cashing out, in other words. Their narrative will later transition to salvaging the Democrat party from the Obama-made wreckage. Trust me, there is no upside for the Republicans for the media's newfound sense of actual journalism.

Oh, what the heck. I turned my prior comment into a post at my site.

I disagree. I think they are so far in the tank that they will continue to peg boy for him until the ships deck is on the bottom of the ocean.

Fat Man,

I must demur; I think Sensing's got it.

For some creatures there is no bottom.

Nonsense. They weren't motivated so much by love for him as a desire to not be perceived as racist and to oppose the enemy. No matter how obnoxious, stupid, incompetent, corrupt, or even evil President Obama may be revealed to be, he's still better than a Republican government to the left, and that's the bottom line. Better the monster on their side than the saint on the other.

In any case, there's too much ego wrapped up in this now. Having made the case so extremely and outrageously, they can't back off now.

I suspect this latest crime is a welcome development for some of the brighter liberals who have themselves gotten tired of the all-too obvious bullshit from the administration and are looking for reasonable cover under which to abandon him.

This may or may not be true. The bigger item to note is that whatever the media do, conservatives will not act in their own defense. They will WAIT for the media to act more fairly toward them. They will not form a picket line to block access to any media office and they will not show up at anyone's home in numbers and intimidate them.

Conservatives choose to live in the world of The Left and search for a niche from where they can hide.

Scott what would conservatives not acting in their own defense would look like EXACTLY AND SPECIFICALLY to you?
