Your Say

Ok, I'm a cat lover, but that was funny. Totally predictable, but funny.

Good for the mutt.

No doubt the cat is the author of a myriad treacherous past outrages.

All cats are.

As for you waltj, and all other cat lovers? That charming gaze with which the cat looks into your face? It's guessing how your eyeballs taste, when it can get at them and how best to kill you.

To quote a 20th - 21st Century philosopher; "that's funny right there, I don't care who you are."

Fred Z, I'm not worried about it. In 50+ years on this earth, the vast majority in the close company of felines, not once has one of my cats attempted to go for my eyeballs or tried to kill me. Except that time on the stairs. Or that other time on the stairs. Or when he knocked over the Christmas tree onto my head. Or...never mind.

You're right about the past outrages against the dog, though. Whenever I've seen cats and dogs housed together, it is usually the cat who gets the upper hand. No mystery to it. Dogs are pack animals who subordinate themselves to the dominant "alpha dog", whether that's another dog, a human, or some other creature. Cesar Millan makes big bucks teaching people how to become "alpha dogs". Cats, having no instinct to subordinate themselves to anything, also become the alphas.
