Why Indeed?

'You'd think there'd be a revolution in every single little town," Laurie Anderson says. "You can do what? You can arrest people for no reason? And put them away with no notification, and no trial? The best would be a military trial. Why did no one say a thing? Why didn't artists say anything?" -- Laurie Anderson: music for dogs and Obama | Music | The Guardian

Your Say

They had all sorts of things to say when someone on the other side held the Presidency. Then they mysteriously shut up when Obama took office. They have principles.

Well, they have a principle. 'Our side ought to run things.' That's it. That's their principle. That's their pole star.

Mike... so your side doesn't think it ought to run thing?

The Left pays lip service to high principle, but only obeys one. Thus the comical cessation of complaint once Obama took office, and silence on all the matters they formerly took to the streets and rioted over when their opponents held office. The Left is the very embodiment of the word "opportunism". The Left has no claim upon the allegiance of those with any moral integrity. That sort of thing.

What's the matter, wasn't my meaning clear? Clearly, my prose lacks precision.

So you are like the liberals but on opposite sides. When Bush was expanding government, spending like crazy and taking away freedoms you didn't get upset but now that Obama is doing it you are angry?

Obama is Bush's third and forth term. Obama is Bush on steroids.

Let's make it real simple. Republicans by and large defended a Republican President's response to 9-11 (exception: Hagel), while Democrats did only momentarily until public disappointment gave them the hope they could bring Bush down over it, and then they criticized everything he did, and with an unprecedented viciousness.

Along comes a Democrat President, and surprise, Republicans have by and large supported his war policies too, because they are not much different from those of his predecessor.

But the Democrats? All of a sudden what were moral abombinations and unconstitutional war-crimes are... okay.

So who by their actions shows that they put American security ahead of party advantage? Not Democrats.

The Republican outrage about Benghazi? It is at a failure to protect, and failure to tell the truth, not a political reflex like it is made out to be by the Democrats and the media. "Project we much", I guess.

The left will say anything and do anything to achive their ends. What they say and do is meaningless. As long as they get their way, how they got there is of no concern. They have no principles, no shame and no honesty. What they do have is no future. Many of them know this and it is displayed in their total absence of joy.

"Deranging America is not far from the truth."
I hadn't known of CounterPunch before. Thanks for the link. It's good to have so many lunatics circling the same flame. "How Obama defanged the EPA" and other gems.
