"How we burned in the camps later"

gulag.jpg
“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?
Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” -- Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn Quotes (Author of One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich)

Your Say

It's not gonna be like that. It'll be more subtle, like the LAPD arresting the harmless Moroccan filmmaker for daring to make a crappy movie that disses He Who Must Not Be Dissed.

You're a maker. You'll do something, like not pay your ObamaTax on time. Maybe deliberately. Maybe you're paying for things in cash too often. Nobody has a right to make fun of HWMNBD, and you told a joke. They'll come and evict you. A moocher family will quickly move in. They'll have lists, takers and moochers. Don't you know, it's payback time? He promised them Revenge, remember? It's somebody else's turn to enjoy that home you have created.

Will your neighbors defend you and chase the deputy sheriffs away when the come for you at 10PM? Not likely, they'll look out, see the police cars, and close their blinds and wait for their turn with a growing sense of dread. Once a week, the cops show up late at night, no flashing lights, and the neighborhood slowly changes.

These are the local police, not the Federals. You obviously did something bad, and the Courts will sort it all out. Yeah, the Courts, where the cops, laywers and judges get paid no matter who is in charge. You know, those Officers of the Court who have sworn an oath to defend the Constitution, that abstract old deeply-flawed document written by a bunch of DWEM's that doesn't have much relevance to the problems of today. And jeez, what can one judge do anyway, he can't stand athwart the train tracks of history and stop the speeding Federal express, and he has a family to feed. And what does "sworn" and "oath" mean anyway, it doesn't mean sworn sworn, where he has to put his life and family at risk to defend a flawed scrap of paper.

You'll be alone, surrounded by moochers, and no one will lift a finger to help. Your friends and neighbors will turn away. Zimmerman in Florida, Moroccan film maker in LA, abandoned by their nieghbors, who all say "We'll let the legal process play itself out, if he's done nothing wrong, he has nothing to fear". You won't be able to get the word out on the Internet, because goohoobingbook will instantly claim it's hate speech or something and take it down.

You'll be left with nowhere to go. They'll offer you the places the moochers just left. Or, they'll have "resettlement zones" for your wife and kids, and for you, nothing.

Of course it can happen here. They're pruning the tree of Liberty one twig at a time. You never see it happen, but one day, the tree is dead, and you'll wonder how it even happened, it was such a glorious and strong tree. And then a golpe, the tree will fall, and you'll see it was hollow with rot for a long time.

The time for taking a stand is coming.

@ John A. Fleming > I agree with your assessment 100%. I have studied and read everything available in regard to tyrants and dictators since high school in the early sixties. My father was a CIA operator/contractor and told me numerous times that with secret organizations such as the NSA it was only a matter of time until a tyrant was legally elected POTUS. My dad stressed that whoever it is, he will have learned from Stalin and Hitler but operate much more stealthily.

And yes, the local Sheriff's will be the enforcers. They are already being trained and equipped.

Television is saturated with cop reality shows, and we are excited about the new season's line-up, pardon the pun. Imagine the entertainment value of mass arrests of ordinary citizens for unspeakable crimes. Literally unspeakable, since they haven't named it yet, but it's just a matter of filing the right papers and voilla! In like Flynn.

How we laughed at the radio cassandras when they told us we'd be exiled in our own land into FEMA camps.

They won't be coming after the real troublemakers until they arrest all the true believers. They always eliminate the useful idiots when they have successfully gotten all their objectives.

The ones boasting the loudest about prying the gun from their cold dead fingers will be the first to cave. All bluster and no backbone, really. We will find out after the end of the world, I bet.

Think about how all the cop shows are about abusive type wise ass police. (Law and Order, etc) We also see "documentary" shows where police raid homes as a SWAT teams.

I think Jewel is right, the "right" will be the most subversive, they say they will fight and a few will but most will turn over. They have always been law abiding, and they always will no matter what the law. They also enjoy living.

Communism: Enslavement of the citizens by force.
Socialism: Enslavement of the citizens by vote.

Nothing in human or animal psychology makes possible fighting the secret police on the scale suggested by Solzhenitsyn. In animals, when fighting intraspecies, whether over food or mates, losers submit. That's natural to them and to people. People then go on to murder those who have submitted. That too is natural, but only for people.

No animal which treated contests of status as lethal contests would for long exist. Loser submits, loser submits and dies, that's possible. But every contest is to the death; that's not possible.

I read "Gulag" several years back and just recently came upon this quote again. Very appropriate.

Twain famously said 'History may not repeat itself, but it rhymes' Indeed.

That's Gulag Archipelago...I just read that passage the other evening.

Re-reading the book, post-election...

What Solzhenitsyn wishes would have happened may have inspired others to resist, but for that group there, that day, it would be a suicide mission.

It must be organized and ongoing.

The arrticle ends with the pathetic " The time for taking a stand is coming". In reality the time or making a stand is nearly lost.People are imbeciles and cowards. The entire communist tyranny is recurring. Men are mostly weak .cowards.
