Go to Spacex.com and take a look at the landing video of the future manned capsule. Looks exactly like a flying saucer landing.

Back in the 50's, "serious" people knew what real spaceships would look like - enormous fat-assed rocketships ala Disney, but "crazy" people thought they saw spaceships that looked like flying saucers.

Funny that.

The problem with the saucer shape is there is too much surface area which causes resistance in anything but a vacuum. Missiles and rockets are coned shaped because it has the smallest amount of resistance.
