Naming Clothing Store "Hitler" Just An Oversight

A clothing store called ‘Hitler’ has upset residents and the small Jewish community in Vastrapur, in Ahmedabad, India.
The shop owners do not find the name objectionable. “We had put up a cloth banner for over a month saying ‘Hitler opening shortly’, no one objected to the name then,” Rajesh Shah, the co-owner of the shop told Times Of India. -- National Post

Next step, the kids' store: "Hitler Youth."

Your Say

"Swastika Brand" rice has been a product of India for decades. The swastika is an old Hindu/Dravidian symbol, after all. Why would the mass of Indians care about this "Hitler fellow" in the first place?

If I remember correctly, Hugo Boss was the official outfitter for the Nazi machine. Apparently, National Socialist German Worker's Party fashion consultants were rather enamored with Hugo Boss' design vision even as Hugo Boss and his managers were said to have admired the National Socialist design vision as well.

As we all know, 'Ol Adolph and crew were certainly murderously evil collectivist bastards alright...Yet if some tee-shirt vendor named their shop "STALIN", or "MAO", or "POL POT", nobody whose 'anybody' would bat an eye...Even in the land of the free...Or reunified Germany for that matter. It's Hammers and Sickles for everyone! Hurrah!

Funny/sad how it's not really about the evils inherent in the unrestrained "scientific" refinement of totalitarian control through the application of state terror, forced dependence, and the conversion of the fruits of people's labors into misery; or the millions of shattered souls, or the industrial efficiency with which nameless emaciated millions were enslaved and then mulched into compost at the stroke of some faceless bureaucrats' pen.

It's about which Socialist rival won, and the sympathies of a favorable press.

It's too bad the store doesn't sell gas ovens.
