Cherokee people, Cherokee tribe... So proud to live, so proud to die!

The recipes from "Elizabeth Warren – Cherokee" include a crab dish with tomato mayonnaise.
Mrs. Warren's fictional Cherokee ancestors in Oklahoma were renowned for their ability to spear the fast-moving Oklahoma crab. It's in the state song: "Ooooooklahoma! Where the crabs come sweepin' down the plain." But then the white man came, and now the Oklahoma crab is extinct, and at the Cherokee clambakes they have to make do with Mrs. Warren's traditional Five Tribes recipe for Cherokee Lime Pie. -- Mark Steyn: Eternally shifting sands of Obama’s biography

Speaking of ancestry, I have never before revealed online that I am a Mayflower descendant. Someday I will post one of the recipes handed down from my forebear William Bradford - the traditional Plymouth Colony recipe for Chicken Fried Rice with Water Chestnuts and Bamboo Shoots.

Cherokee crab cake; Cherokee lime pie (Good one, Mark Stein)
So good with chips; so good with wine

And maybe someday when they've learned
Back for seconds they'll return
They'll return, they'll return ....
