Archaeologists uncover proof that Bethlehem existed centuries pre-Jesus

The tiny clay seal is imprinted with three lines of ancient Hebrew script that include the word "Bethlehem".

"This is the first time the name Bethlehem appears outside the Bible in an inscription from the First Temple period," Shukron said in a statement, referring to the years 1006 BC to 586 BC. The coin-sized remnant of the seal proves that Bethlehem - first mentioned in the Book of Genesis - "was indeed a city in the Kingdom of Judah, and possibly also in earlier periods" -- PhotoBlog -

Your Say

There has never yet been anything in the Bible disproven by archeology. Hundreds of things proven and supported, but never disproven. There was a time when archaeologists and historians claimed King David was a mythical Arthurian figure until they found evidence of him in a dig. Happens over and over.

You can dispute the supernatural events and theology of the Bible all you like, but its historical record is unequaled in history. The Bible is an incredible historical volume of stunning accuracy and value, if nothing else.

'if nothing else', Chris is all there needs to be.
