The Internet Kill Switch

A new U.S. Senate bill would grant the president far-reaching emergency powers to seize control of or even shut down portions of the Internet....

Throwing the kill switch would probably double the GDP. It would double my productivity for sure.

GDP would double only because the government would disappear. Some things do attract lightening strikes.

They'll pass it. The power's too tempting. It pushes us all a lot closer to the grave of free speech, and the smell of it will prove too tempting for these vampires.

I wonder whether they will attempt to present any sort of rationale for its passage. And if so, what would the rationale be? I can't think of one off the top of my head.
