San Francisco is a Sh*thole

Not every place in America is as fine as North Platte. He’s the travel poster.

I’ve had my say about this many years with: Night Fishing in San Francisco – American Digest

The extent to which the homeless, the hard-core unemployed, the drunk and the addicted, and general shabby personalities of all kinds are deployed about the city is something to bring even the most hard-core liberal from elsewhere up short. If the myriad policies and millions man-years of effort, coupled with untold billions of dollars in funding deployed in San Francisco over the last four decades have created the current visible result, something is seriously askew with the city’s basic social engineering. It is as if the entire region has spent 40 years and 400 billion building a replica of the Golden Gate Bridge on Ocean Beach intending to span the Pacific. A good intention, but a city’s gotta know its limitations.

San Francisco is the poster child for affirmative action.

The thirteenth-century saint for whom the city is named must weep when he looks down on it. When St. Francis took “Lady Poverty” as his “spiritual bride,” and enjoined corporate as well as personal poverty for the members of his order, he wanted to imitate the example of Christ, not provide an excuse for squalor and anarchy. Perhaps, God willing, SF may someday return to the true intentions of its patron saint.

This and “Night Fishing..” heartbreaking degradation. Will the left never stop in it’s abasement of man?

The comment by PA Cat about St Francis, so apt, so sad.

The clips of the troubled, insane or drugged, men in that video just about blow my mind and wrench my heart. I recall when Massachusetts closed alll the state institutions for the mentally ill. That confused me a lot.

Do we really have but two choices for these souls – warehoused in institutions with sometimes questionable staff or roaming city wide making people laugh and cry while they waste away their lives in public and degrade Western cities? How would a healthy culture handle these souls I wonder?
