Where the Sidewalk Ends
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.
Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.
Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

The People Yes
The steel mill sky is alive.
The fire breaks white and zigzag
shot on a gun-metal gloaming.
Man is a long time coming.
Man will yet win.
Brother may yet line up with brother:
This old anvil laughs at many broken hammers.
There are men who can’t be bought.
The fireborn are at home in fire.
The stars make no noise,
You can’t hinder the wind from blowing.
Time is a great teacher.
Who can live without hope?
In the darkness with a great bundle of grief
the people march.
In the night, and overhead a shovel of stars for keeps, the people
march:
“Where to? what next?”

Miles of miles and mountains of memories, what could be better?
Those who can’t build, destroy what they can.
So enjoyed! Thank you, Gerard.
A guy with a good eye and an accurate rifle should monitor this site and the next time these “kids” swing by on their motorcycles and attempt to desecrate this memorial, place a few well aimed FMJs from a .30-06 right into the engines of their toys.
I will promise you, a long walk home will cure these felonious thugs from what ails them.
What jd said– thank you for posting this video. I admire the way the friends got together and worked as a team to repair the memorial– we need more of that spirit today.
There’s more of this than the controllers care to imagine. There’s a job to do for a neighbor. Let’s figure out what we have to do and do it. With joy in our hearts. No environmental impact statements, no construction permits, no OSHA. They’re untouched, at least in this video, by the governmental beast. They’ll be the saviors of this nation. As we all should be.
…and no masks.
There are many, many more good people in the world than bad. The news would have you believe just the opposite. The cure? Turn off the news and step away from social media. Unplug from the bad and plug in to your local neighborhood and community. Your mental health and peace of mind will vastly improve.
