Psyop MyAss

Doom Weaver — 12 days ago — “Any deception aims to either increase or decrease the level of uncertainty, or ambiguity, in the mind of the deception target. This ambiguity has the potential to compel the target to mistakenly perceive friendly motives, intentions, capabilities, and vulnerabilities thereby altering the target’s assessment.”
— FM 3-13.4, ARMY SUPPORT TO MILITARY DECEPTION.

Think of who this video is aimed at and who was meant to consume it. Think about their motivations.
This video glows, by the way. You’re guaranteed that these people hate you.”

This new Army recruitment video is a case study in psychological warfare Col. Chris Stangle, commander of 4th PSYOP Group, told Task & Purpose on Friday that the video was created in-house, both as a recruitment effort but also to literally show people what they can do — part of psychological operations is creating persuasive media.

Stangle said that the artist behind the video tailored it a bit after iconic horror film JAWS, where the filmmakers showed restraint in actually showing the shark. Instead, viewers knew it was lurking just below the surface.

“Drawing on this approach, we kind of sought to create a piece that doesn’t show what a PSYOP soldier does necessarily, because it’s so complicated and there’s so much about it — quite honestly. It’s just not incredibly sexy — but what it feels like to do our craft when we’re successful,” Stangle said. “And we think that kind of allows the audience to immerse into what our world is, and what our craft is.”

Who did that video a high school sophomore?

Flew as a pilot for a Combat Assault Helicopter Company in Vietnam 69-70. I would not want anyone recruited by that video anywhere near my cockpit. Let them fly drones, or make more silly, childish “recruitment videos”.

Recruitment videos are a construct of the white male patriarchy and are obsolete in the glorious vibrant Benetton for all diversity is our strength rainbow utopia.
War and history are over (h/t-Francis F) and the egalitarian workers paradise is here now, you’ll own nothing and like it, comrade.
The comrades of the glorious unity hive borg collective will save the indispensable money laundering machine err I mean 51st state Ukraine for the good of the CPUSA (democrat) Long Marchers and it will be mandatory.

Would be trite to get all meta and recursive about the thing. I’m not Umberto Eco.

Can’t help thinking that the amount of this targeted at the US domestic audience by various USGov and affiliated actors is directly proportional the square of the squawking about Chinese and Russian psyops (Which certainly exist. But the Near Enemy / Far Enemy distinction is important to consider.)

@Carl: The problem with kids who fly drones is that they can kill you as soon as look at you. It’s not just about big heavy Predator type drones for taking out Afghan weddings from the other side of the world. I’ve been watching a lot of Telegram videos of the current unpleasantness in East Ukraine and both sides have been using COTS DJI type drones for mortar and heavier artillery spotting. You just can’t miss. And the footage from the Armenia vs Azerbaijan fighting last year with cheap Turkish armed drones: it was Slaughter.

PsyOps. Name a war without significant psychological tactics. You can’t. In Korea, the Norks would learn our infantry guys’ names and talk shit about their girlfriends, by name, over loudspeakers on the DMZ. In The Falklands the Brits had twice as many carrier planes on paper as in actuality. In Italy, the Axis and the Allies had plenty of time to fire leaflet shells with, well, shittalk leaflets.

So, the question is: what makes these contemporary army mind pilots different than those from past generations? The difference is in strategic intent, and where the critical targets lie.

You, baby. You’re the target. I don’t know if or what the US Army special operators are doing domestically. I wouldn’t speculate on that. But it seems very evident that the CIA and the FBI are ass-deep in information warfare and rather creepily leering at the American consumer of information. Of course, the media is the Devil’s own concubine when it comes to gaslighting the citizenry.

I was almost recruited into Civil Affairs, but I had much funner and more high speed stuff to do at that time in my life.

Psyops are as old as Sumer. Truly, “there is nothing new under the sun.” Caesar is said to have called it “making war in the mind of an enemy before the first sword is drawn.” There never has been a successful military or captain who did not engage in such things. Joshua himself was a master of the art. Once you understand what Psyops are, you can never again read history or current events without keeping them in mind. Psyops mean to meld the real with the unreal, to control the mind so that a population reaches the desired conclusion.

Desired by whom? Step carefully here, for to get the answer you will have to enter a rabbit hole that not everyone who does so can emerge from wholly sane.

Just so you know, the largest Psyops operation in my lifetime is being carried out as I write these words.

    Carried out by whom?

Who can forget the massive victories achieved by these mind warriors. There was the slaughter of the Norks at Jimmy Bottoms Fried Wing Joint, the rout of the 8th Taliban Women’s Brigade at Bloomingdale’s, the Confederate rout of Gen. Biden Corps at the Little Chicken Coop although the CSA consisted of a Boy Scout Troop 123, or the surrender of Yale’s I am Offended Woman’s Pronoun Striking Force to the macinations of the Amish glee club.
Our enemies are doubled over in laughter.
