That’s actually a well-written ad, word/sentence-wise. I used to write those things, and executive speeches and whatnot. I wasn’t as good as this writer is in peddling bullshit as it does, of course, assume its readers are morons.

Having lived in Portland my whole life, I have the most profound contempt for Wheeler et al…..disgusting at every level these days.

  • gwbnyc June 22, 2021, 5:42 PM

why the municipal government there hasn’t been marched out at bayonet point eludes me.

    the state, too, at that.

A schizophrenic’s love letter to its/his/her/self … just before jumping. Comedy lives!

The four feet of entries below, Gerard, are simply magnificent.
    You are a blessing.

    uhhhhh. UhhHHHHH. DerrrrHHH.
Wasn’t it this past week when we heard that the whole fukn lot of SWAT cops up and quit en masse in Portland?
    What took them so long?
Turns out it might be a good move for Portland, because if Antifa hasn’t anyone to officiate its fights, then they may not have any fights or riots. It’s no fun to stage a fight but your cohort in uniform doesn’t attend.
soooooooo……then they stage their riots in the more conservative ‘burb of PDX: Oregon City. And that’s how that shit works.
In a post=apocalyptic note, I got an invite to go down to Monterey Bay to teach this summer. Just for a few days. I’ve never been to the central coast of Cali; it’s very enticing. But, of course, I had to research the homeless crisis before committing myself. Yes, it looks bad. No, the city fathers are not addressing the situation with anything that approaches a plan of action. It’s like the stupid leading the blind.
And, back into the fray I go.

For a contrast with the “love” note from Portland, OR, here’s a video boosting The Other Portland:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZjobkdhsqM&t=243s&ab_channel=MakeMaineYourHome

Can’t resist noting that the first two comments beneath the vid refer to the hellholes of the Pacific Northwest: “Visiting Portland Maine within the next 2 months in regards to relocating from Portland Oregon. I’ve been researching Maine for a year and I can’t wait.”
“Watching from Seattle, definitely considering Portland.”

What sort of stupid swallows such shit as that and declares it as good, no, BETTER!, than ice cream?

  • Hoss June 23, 2021, 4:15 AM

Exactly what you would expect from a city run by a bunch of simpering idiots.

  • Ed in Upstate NY June 23, 2021, 5:01 AM

    @Dan Patterson

You won’t of course, you will be heard
Ah, but at least a man can dream
    I’m afraid, alas, the turd
Who thinks he’s an ice cream

I lived in Portland for 30 years. About everything in this ad is out right lies and nonsense. I watched the city decay over all my time there. Thank God I left for good in 1993, returning a few times only to marvel at the crudity, vulgarity, barbarism, and outright insanity of those degenerates that live there and run that insane asylum.

Those dwellers in Portland who enjoy that city enjoy it for the same reason that worms enjoy rotting flesh.

  • LS June 23, 2021, 6:08 AM

The lack of visual in the ad isn’t exactly a sign of confidence.

  • ghostsniper June 23, 2021, 7:15 AM

    LS got a hint.
That whole thing is a bag of shit sandwich hollow platitudes hoping to hide the begging that underscores all of it.

Notice it’s a NYFT ad, whom they are begging too. Not a sane state, but another insane state.

Portland has immolated, realizes it sort of, and thinks it needs to grab a fire extinguisher if someone else will kindly hand it to them. See, they fired all their own cause they were, er, raysiss. Let em burn.

I think Portland is a GREAT city-
To send all our illegal aliens and habitual felons to.
As a testing site for thermonuclear weapons.
As a giant landfill to send all our HazMat waste.
As a sanctuary city for all the libtards moving out of the CA Bay Area.

Here’s the solution to all Portland’s problems- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCbfMkh940Q

  • Giles Overreach June 23, 2021, 7:51 AM

As a longtime resident of the region …Hoss nails it!

  • EX-Californian Pete June 23, 2021, 8:53 AM

“Can Portland get any stupider, or any worse” you ask?
Yes. Yes it can, and did.
Portland Cops will now NOT be pulling over “people of color” (you know, those who aren’t ‘colorless’ like us whiteys) for minor traffic infractions, because that would somehow be “RACIST” or maybe touch off more of their endless rioting if the perp has pigmentation and the Officer does not.
    https://www.lawenforcementtoday.com/portland-police-to-no-longer-initiate-traffic-stops-for-minor-infractions/

And as Casey noted above, the Riot Squad just up & quit, too. Portland has now officially turned the city over to criminals.

  • Sam L. June 23, 2021, 9:17 AM

Portland: The only good things I can say about it are Gerber Knives and local knife makers. It used to be a nice place, not that I lived there, but it was the biggest city near where I was living.

  • anonymous June 23, 2021, 9:41 AM

m m m That’s a good one. Living here in one of the red states close to Portland, I see the Portlandians driving their cars and Penske moving vans up and down the streets of town–looking for housing.

  • Aggie June 23, 2021, 10:17 AM

Nothing is sadder to see than a labor of love, an investment of vision built across generations, squandered by people who hate themselves and the society around them. Portland is a municipal cripple, a study in self-immolation.

  • Dirk June 23, 2021, 11:01 AM

Burn it down, down to the ground. What was once one of the most beautiful cities in this nation has been killed by people without souls, morals, or ethics.

The city is under the control of Saul Alinsky’s, mini monsters.

    For now!

I would rather pay the 8% sales tax and shop here, than cross the river and shop in Portland. Every time I’ve had to go there, it looks worse. And I’m not talking about the areas where the riots have been. The entire town is dirty and full of garbage. And since there are videos of Antifa attacking tourists from other area, you’d be a fool to go there. As for the ad, it’s nonsense. There’s nothing edgy about the folks in Portland. They look the same as folks in every other hard blue town. They all think alike too.
