The Creator set life into motion, and life does not favor the dull and gray function over form. Life creates color and beauty. God may have said “Let there be light”, and he gave to life the task to create all the rest. This is just a quick note dashed off, but I’m not describing it right and poetics is probably the only form that can come close to doing the topic justice. If all life, including the plants and the animals clothe themselves in beauty, ought that to be our goal also? Yes we have to live, but the things we do and sub-create should be beautiful.

I can’t argue against any of that. Why not surround oneself with as much beauty as often as possible? Further, why not take the time to recognize beauty that you may not have noticed before?
When we moved here almost 19 years ago, for the first time in my life I started to recognize the “seasons”. I lived in the seasons before but I was young and scattered. Then I lived 40 years in a place where there is only one season, hot n miserable.
Here though, the seasons have texture, as I call it, that you can recognize with all your senses. For me, that recognition peaks 2 times a year, around 21 September and 21 March. I say around because it varies by a day or two.
The peaks are brief, maybe a few hours, so it might be missed if not paying attention. I’ve heard that the best natural light for artists comes from the north, so the window in my office faces north. When the seasonal “peaks” occur the light coming into my north office window is almost more than I can bare. The sun is at the precise angle that it does something to my eyes and brain. It’s difficult to explain.
This past Sunday morning, about 10am, I was walking across the bridge from the northside of my office to our house and I glanced to my left into the forest. There it was. That seasonal peak. I was in the right place at the right time. I stopped, stood there, and marveled.
It was a small Aspen tree, about 50 feet away. The drought conditions around here had prematurely turned the leaves brown and they were swathed in that luvlay seasonal peak of light. The Aspen leaves were bathed in magic! They appeared to be iridescent copper and were, dare I say, shimmering. Not brown. Not gold. Not tan. Not dead. Shimmering Copper. Radiant even. Breath taking.
I was looking to my left, the west, at that Aspen, while walking north, and the morning sun was to my right, the east, and that sun was just so. It was a special moment in time and place and I took the time to appreciate it. See, normally at this time of year the leaves on that Aspen are green and they would not have appeared as they did last Sunday. But because of the drought they were dead so they appeared different than I had ever seen them before.
I don’t remember why I was walking to the house that day, it doesn’t matter. If I’d have been 5 mins earlier or later the angle of the sun would have been different I wouldn’t have seen those Aspen leaves as I did. And, in my cold blooded youth I might not have noticed any of this. I am old now and I am a different person than I was just 10 years ago. Some of the differences are not easy, some of them are better, but differences they are. I’m glad I’m in a place where I can take the opportunity to enjoy the free things around me. Peace of mind might be the most important thing, after all the ravages of societal baggage burns off…..

He told “Fox & Friends First” he “absolutely” blames “border czar” Kamala Harris and President Biden for the issue.
“You have no control over it. You don’t know who these people are. Not everybody is a good person,” Oliver said on Wednesday.

Huge amounts of ammunition were also found in the ‘scout site’ that was around 700 feet from the border wall in Border Patrol’s Tucson Sector, according to an internal memo first reported by NewsNation.
At this stage, we don’t know exactly who those weapons belonged to or what they intended to do with them.
But it is being reported that Iran “is trying to assassinate former President Donald Trump”…

We need some good old fashioned Central American type death squads to help due process along. How ridiculous to give free lawyers, along with free housing, food and medical care to illegal aliens. If you arrest an illegal for any criminal activity, then deport them on their illegal status alone and be done with it. Centralize several USAF bases to hold these predators and as soon as there is enough to load up a C17 then fly them south and drop them off at 32,000 feet. Just kidding, maybe have the 82nd Airborne drop into a southern Mexican city that has an airport with long runway or let the Seabees make one. Take over the surrounding area. Create a mined DMZ then fly these losers there and tell them “buenos suerte” as they are unloaded. “Oh, you are an illegal from China and not Mexico? Man that is a tough one, hope you can swim.”
The world empties their prisons and deplorables and sends them to the US and we sit here and take it. Millions of military aged men are now here to take over neighborhoods and rape our mothers and daughters. Wind causes waves, wind blowing unimpeded across the wide oceans. When wind starts blowing on a calm liquid surface, it creates tiny ripples that start merging into bigger ripples that the wind can push harder on (well, more wind kinetic energy is transferred into wave kinetic energy). The waves keep getting steeper and deeper. The surfers talk about wind-chop and deep ocean swell. The wind-chop is afternoon short-cycle small waves locally created the same day they are experienced. The deep ocean swell is waves that have traversed the ocean from the big storms in the far north and far south. For instance, the winter storms in the Gulf of Alaska creates the northwest swell, which creates the big winter waves at Mavericks in Half Moon Bay , and Jaws at the Oahu North Shore. In summer, the swell comes from the south, created in the Roaring Forties by the winter storms there and traversing the entire Pacific Ocean to lap up as slow rollers onto Huntington Beach and Malibu and Waikiki.

Funny story. I go to a Pachyderm luncheon on Fridays. Pachyderm is a Republican club that brings in speakers of interest–usually politically connected, but frequently just expert in some field important to us here. The local representative for Tim Sheehy (R candidate to oust the D senator) came to announce the debate to be held this week at the university. He announced the time and date and then said they were asking for volunteers to stand in front of the building on campus and hold Sheehy signs. Then when he looked out over the audience reality set in, and a look of shock and recognition came over his face as he corrected himself–“do you have any grandchildren that would come and hold signs!” A sad truth about the future of the R party is the age factor!

According to NPR, transporting “new arrivals” from India to New York City has actually become a very lucrative business…
A group of immigrants from India pile out of a taxi minivan beside the Clinton County, New York, government building in this small upstate city half an hour from the Canadian border.
They are quickly swarmed by a half a dozen fellow Indian immigrants who’ve waited hours for this business opportunity.
This fleet of jitney taxis offering migrants rides south to New York City is one clear example of the informal economy that’s sprung up following a significant increase in unauthorized crossings across the usually sleepy northern border over the last year and a half.
Needless to say, some people are coming to the United States because they want a better life.
But in many other cases, people are crossing the border for very nefarious reasons.
According to the New York Post, children that are as young as 8 years old “are being drugged and smuggled into the US by traffickers”…
Border Patrol agents are warning that kids as young as 8 are being drugged and smuggled into the US by traffickers posing as their parents or family members — and nobody knows how common the horrifying practice is.
Authorities have rescued children caught up in two different instances of such smuggling in recent weeks — including one instance in which the alleged traffickers had birth certificates for multiple kids to whom they weren’t related, according to the Border Patrol.
Border Patrol sources have told The Post they’ve observed increasing numbers of smugglers posing as family units in order to “recycle” children.
Stopping the exploitation of children should be a good enough reason all by itself to secure our borders.
But our politicians refuse to do it.

A bombshell report indicated that at least 4 rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) and 8 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were discovered in Mexico close to the U.S.-Mexico border.
Huge amounts of ammunition were also found in the ‘scout site’ that was around 700 feet from the border wall in Border Patrol’s Tucson Sector, according to an internal memo first reported by NewsNation.
At this stage, we don’t know exactly who those weapons belonged to or what they intended to do with them.

We need some good old fashioned Central American type death squads to help due process along. How ridiculous to give free lawyers, along with free housing, food and medical care to illegal aliens. If you arrest an illegal for any criminal activity, then deport them on their illegal status alone and be done with it. Centralize several USAF bases to hold these predators and as soon as there is enough to load up a C17 then fly them south and drop them off at 32,000 feet. Just kidding, maybe have the 82nd Airborne drop into a southern Mexican city that has an airport with long runway or let the Seabees make one. Take over the surrounding area. Create a mined DMZ then fly these losers there and tell them “buenos suerte” as they are unloaded. “Oh, you are an illegal from China and not Mexico? Man that is a tough one, hope you can swim.”
The world empties their prisons and deplorables and sends them to the US and we sit here and take it. Millions of military aged men are now here to take over neighborhoods and rape our mothers and daughters. Even established gangs are complaining in Chicago that the illegals are taking over their turf. What did anyone think would happen? This cannot end well and there are only a finite amount of yards to mow. No, they are not all bad of course. Well that’s all fine and dandy but, what “causes” waves?

Wind causes waves, wind blowing unimpeded across the wide oceans. When wind starts blowing on a calm liquid surface, it creates tiny ripples that start merging into bigger ripples that the wind can push harder on (well, more wind kinetic energy is transferred into wave kinetic energy). The waves keep getting steeper and deeper. The surfers talk about wind-chop and deep ocean swell. The wind-chop is afternoon short-cycle small waves locally created the same day they are experienced. The deep ocean swell is waves that have traversed the ocean from the big storms in the far north and far south. For instance, the winter storms in the Gulf of Alaska creates the northwest swell, which creates the big winter waves at Mavericks in Half Moon Bay , and Jaws at the Oahu North Shore. In summer, the swell comes from the south, created in the Roaring Forties by the winter storms there and traversing the entire Pacific Ocean to lap up as slow rollers onto Huntington Beach and Malibu and Waikiki.

Funny story. I go to a Pachyderm luncheon on Fridays. Pachyderm is a Republican club that brings in speakers of interest–usually politically connected, but frequently just expert in some field important to us here. The local representative for Tim Sheehy (R candidate to oust the D senator) came to announce the debate to be held this week at the university. He announced the time and date and then said they were asking for volunteers to stand in front of the building on campus and hold Sheehy signs. Then when he looked out over the audience reality set in, and a look of shock and recognition came over his face as he corrected himself–“do you have any grandchildren that would come and hold signs!” A sad truth about the future of the R party is the age factor!
