I’m pleased Gerard saved that photo in his library, and that Neo thought enough of it to post it here again. Gerard had posted the photo in the sidebar here in the past. I sent it to him after a photo post he put up at his KA-CHING! site which called the photo I sent to mind. The petunia was growing in that little crack between the cement of the curb/gutter and the asphalt road on the corner across from my front porch.

Speaking of life in difficult spaces (nice photo!), I’m glad to report that Mike Austin is alive and mostly well. Concerned that he hadn’t posted to his blog in over a month, I sent him an email last night. He responded that he did a month in the jungle, then his knees cratered, and he’s currently in Antigua Guatemala; will return to the States to retrieve a puppy, “Marvel,” that’s waiting on him and who will accompany him on subsequent bikepacking trips.

      • John Venlet April 5, 2023, 10:02 AM

Good to hear that Austin is doing okay, well, except for the knee thing. Thanks, Mike.

        Thank you–I was worried !

I am also happy to read Mike Austin is on a hiking trip. I wish I still had the legs and lungs to hike and climb.

Beautiful picture; I remember it on AD.

Very glad to hear Mike is well and hope we see him soon.

Re: Trump charges–Black balls vs. White balls

  • Flannelputz April 6, 2023, 10:52 AM

FYI to the commenters: Neo and I have successfully funded AD for the next 2 years, per Gerards wishes. Thought you would want to know this.

    • John Venlet April 6, 2023, 11:34 AM

Flannelputz and Neo, thank you for tending to Gerard’s legacy.

    • Trooper John Smith April 6, 2023, 2:04 PM

Good to hear and thanks to both of you. I still stop here every day.

      • Mike Seyle April 6, 2023, 3:38 PM

Yes, thank you Flannelputz and Neo. Not one of us knows what will still stand two years from now; but as different as it’s bound to be, it’s good to know this site will be here for the duration because of your efforts.

I wish we were doing a better job of the quality, but I do believe most of us are trying! Please keep up the poetry, the photos, the music, if you can. I know you cannot run two of these, keep up the good work!

    Trump is tired, run down.
    76 years old.
He deserves to be sitting on the porch watching the grandkids playing in the yard.

This country needs a team leader, with Trump size balls and Trumps “fuck you” money, and about 50 associates that are trained pitbull handlers with microscopically short fuses and very high intelligence quotients, and each associate needs 10 very high talented lawyers with the same sort of attitudes, zeal, and are registered ass kicking boots wearers and multiple firearms carriers.

This assembled combat battalion will come on line and let the 50 ton wrecking balls fly in all directions at the same time. When the dust clears 90 days later most of the gov’t at all levels will be gone and the employees thereof will be cowering, trembling, shell shocked, and wondering where their next meal will come from. The taxpayer hostages will be free of their lifelong chains and will instantly soar to heights never before seen. By the end of the year this team leader will be granted king of the world. Anyone left that is not onboard will be in deep hiding and there will be warrants out on their arrests and $1000 per ear bounties paid upon the collection of their souls.

Not proposin’, not supposin’ … but I smell another Kennedy run

      • ghostsniper April 6, 2023, 5:18 PM

        He’s 69. Porch material.
His uncle was the youngest president ever and he was 44 when elected.
The law says minimum of 35 yo.

Ideally, white, 35 yo, STEM college degree, 10 year army combat arms officer vet, captain or better, devoted patriot, married to a white woman, 3 kids, with nadz out to there and smart as 4 mf.

But then, if he had all that why would he choose to soil himself in the mostly immoral and criminal environment of american politics? Half the population hates him right out of the gate, and half of the other half are fat, stupid pussy’s, and the last half have already been breaking their backs for decades trying to swim uphill due to the immoral criminals going overboard constantly trying to make life as difficult as possible for them. No one has anything left to give.

I don’t vote D but step back and look at it. The nostalgia of the name vs most of the scum that D party has to offer. For that matter, if DJT and DeSantis aren’t on the ticket, who do the Rs have with the emotional or nostalgia appeal? We are all F*d no matter what – picking a new captain for the Titanic after we’ve hit the iceberg.

Specific to Kennedy’s run for the POTUS. When he went off the rails with his anti medicine die a tribe, the tribe with which he is affiliated spent a fortune in soy bean futures wildly gesticulating that he was personally responsible for the deaths of Grandma’s and Grandpa’s across the nation, from sea to shining sea. While RFK was running off the range during this sordid affair the tribe which would normally be in disagreement with found instead an ally. There was actually a report that while Trump was assembling his cabinet, RFK was on the inside track to be the guy who ran the HHS.
RFK ultimately burned the bridges from his home domiciled tribesman and gained the affections of those he would not normally sleep with politically. The confluence of events that caused him to speak against such atrocities despite his families historic connections to the Eugenics crowd may have been a bridge too far for him personally as he has battled big pharma for years even though his uncle was personally responsible for the direct involvement of these corporations taking over the lives of our children to the point that there is actually no personal liberty. Interestingly though, RFK has stated several times that Big Oil should be serving time in the Hague, of course, after a fair trial. This despite the fact that RFK spends copious amounts of time and money flying in an airplane and driving his nice BMW to and fro. On the bright side he does have an interesting hobby, falconry. I haven’t asked, but the falcons that he uses for his hobby would probably just as soon migrate from north to south in any given season floating upon the prevailing winds to their winter homes or breeding grounds.
Thanks for the site, there is some really good stuff here. Much appreciated and unfortunately too late to fully appreciate the Daily Gerard briefings. Cheers.
