I believe the new website – newamericandigest.org – is open for business.
I hope most of the bugs have been worked out and the necessary tweaks and adjustments to the theme are at least complete enough to pull the curtains back. For all the troubles, I find I enjoy setting up websites.
I’ve removed most of the earlier “experimental” posts; I’ll adjust the dates of those I kept to reflect this beginning date of Dec 27, 2024.
I want to thank all those who commented or emailed letting me know what was working and what was not.
The site is free and open. No registration or subscription fees are necessary. I’ll keep it this way until/unless things get out of hand.
I hope y’all enjoy the new site. Feel free to let me know if there are more bugs I’ve missed. Also feel free to suggest post topics – or better yet, send me (by email) an essay-type article you’d like to post. There might be a better way to do this but it’s not implemented yet.
There’s another month plus or minus a week of American Digest left. Thank you so much Neo for your effort keeping American Digest going – and helping me with New American Digest. I hope the new site does Gerard proud.

… and when you do go to production, new bugs show up.
The comments are on the site (4 now as I write this) and they show up properly in Admin mode – but I don’t see them on the live site.
Well – I’ve worked on engines before while they’re running … time to re-open the hood.
Anyone see my 10mm socket? 🙂

Just read your story about your friend, Joe, DT. Don’t know if I would have
commented but there is no place to do it. My sympathies for your long-ago
loss.

Thanks. It was very long time ago. Don’t think about it much except on this date. Usually don’t talk or share it but seemed proper this year.
Working on comments. Not sure where tagline underneath post went to but if you click the post title, it’ll take you to a comments page for that post.

DT, The story about Joe was very moving. People like Joe ruin a lot of lives as they wander through life only thinking about themselves. Thanks

My head knocks against the stars.
My feet are on the hilltops.
My finger-tips are in the valleys and shores of universal life.
Down in the sounding foam of primal things I reach my hands and play with pebbles of destiny.
I have been to hell and back many times.
I know all about heaven, for I have talked with God.
I dabble in the blood and guts of the terrible.
I know the passionate seizure of beauty
And the marvelous rebellion of man at all signs reading “Keep Off.”
My name is Truth and I am the most elusive captive in the universe.
Duty, Beauty, Liberty, Country, Honor, Family, Faith — Plus a few simple easy to follow rules for guys
Men saw the stars at the edge of the sea
They thought great thoughts about liberty
Poets wrote down words that did fit
Writers wrote books
Thinkers thought about it
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
Many’s the road I have walked upon
Many’s the hour between dusk and dawn
Many’s the time
Many’s the mile
I see it all now
Through the eyes of a child
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
And close your eyes
Leave it all for a while
Leave the world
And your worries behind
You will build on whatever is real
And wake up each day
To a new waking dream
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Change, change come over
Change come over
Talkin’ about a change
Change, change
Change come over, now
Change, change, change come over
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light
