OK, who got the neck meat over at your place?
You know that’s the best part.
I bet, over at Anne’s crib, DH lets her have it.

from the Idaho Statesman (Boise newspaper):
The Boise State athletic department announced Wednesday night that its volleyball team will forfeit its semifinal match against San Jose State in the Mountain West Tournament. The decision means Boise State will finish the season with a record of 19-11 and likely not make the NCAA Tournament. The Broncos defeated Utah State 3-1 in the tournament’s first round Wednesday night, setting up a Friday matchup with the Spartans, who had received a first-round bye as the No. 2 seed.
Boise State forfeited its two regular-season matchups with San Jose State this season, on Sept. 28 and Nov. 21. It was one of several Mountain West schools to forfeit games against San Jose State this year after reports of a transgender player on the Spartans roster.

Had an amazing thanksgiving dinner with friends and family. My wife made pumpkin and apple pies and we had a traditional dinner. There were 32 of us altogether. Wednesday we were able to share a thanksgiving meal at my son’s school. The parents brought the food and we ate in the historic one room school house where he teaches.
ghostsniperNovember 30, 2024, 3:28 AM
WoW! You lukky dawg! You had it made all the way around!
I’d like to hear more about that school house.

Sounds like a grand time! With feeding 32, I can imagine the wonderful kitchen smells.
What’s the shipping status of the book I ordered Nov. 7 ?
ghostsniperNovember 30, 2024, 3:30 PM
Going by the numbers only, mine took 23 days from order to delivery.
So, for you, maybe Mon the 1st?
If you ordered it 1 day earlier you’d be reading it in front of the fire right now and sipping a BIG cup of cocoa. Come on, show us that white moustache!
AnneNovember 30, 2024, 8:17 PM
With regard to the neck meat–DH is always an officer and a gentleman (and a sailor)! We shared the dinner making chores.
What can I say? After 43 years together I still love to see that man walk into the room!
It is a second marriage for both of us.
AnneNovember 30, 2024, 8:18 PM
With regard to the neck meat–I didn’t think anyone else knew about the rich quality of that precious little treat!
Jean, I ordered my book on the 1st. Last Tuesday tracking had it in Detroit. I was sure it would be in CLE on Wednesday… nope…Wednesday found it in North Carolina (I’m chalking it up to USPS routing). It arrived on Friday and it is wonderful. Thank you Neo for all your hard work.
When was the last time you did something for the first time?
Do you even remember?

I made a Dutch Apple pie for Thanksgiving. Lots of husbands have some talents in the kitchen, but I’m not one of them. There’s a place about an hour north of us…north of Phoenix…in Black Canyon City, called the Rock Springs Cafe which is famous for their pies. Every time we have driven past, we’re going somewhere, so we’ve never stopped in. Anyway, in September, our neighbors brought my wife one of their Dutch Apple pies for her birthday. OMG….it was wonderful!
My pie was my attempt at duplicating a Rock Springs pie, and mine turned out to be a pale imitation. Not bad, but not as good as the pies that my darling Mrs. azlib can produce in her sleep, and not even in the same ballpark as a Rock Springs pie.
I’ll try another pie again some day, but not any time soon. I’ve gained my annual Thanksgiving poundage and for at least the short-to-medium term, I need less pie, not more.
ghostsniperDecember 2, 2024, 3:54 AM
At least you tried AZ and that’s what counts.
Keep trying and an amazing things starts to happen, you get better.
Over the past 20+ years I have become quite the scientist in the kitchen.
No formal education, lot’s of paying attention to others (cooking shows on TV, Youtubes, reading websites, etc., and lots of trial and error. Fortunately, I don’t get too fancy with my creations and I’m easily pleased, and my wife is mostly indifferent to all of it.
I have never done a pie probably because of all the delicate steps, you know, “cutting in” the COLD butter, etc. I do likes me some pie now and then but I usually just buy one somewhere. For reasons she is not capable of explaining, my wife does not like pie. Even after 40+ years of mostly wedded bliss (yeah right) there are still things about her that just don’t make sense.
I made a full size quilt top for my grandson. It was intended to be finished for for Christmas but the actual quilting is slow going and not to be rushed.
Well now. Your assignment for today Jean, is to consider how your life would be different today, over the long haul, if it had NOT been disappointing. Sometimes what we have is better than what we wish we had, but our “walls” prevent us from knowing so. You know, that grass is always greener thing….just trying to bring some balance…
However, I gave up slutty when I got married.
I believe in complete honesty, even when it gets ugly. I tried lying. Not good at it.
ghostsniperDecember 4, 2024, 3:23 AM
I hear ya. Come Feb it’ll be 41 years I’ve been draggin’ this ball n chain. The problem with lying is there’s too much stuff to remember. I’m the laziest person I ever knew, so the truth has always worked well.
Hearty congrats on 41 years of wedded bliss.
Mine ended at 19 years after husband’s suicide. No worries. It was 27 long years ago. If you want details, look up “It’s all about choices-Epilogue”.
“the laziest person I know”…willing to bet that is a lie right there.
ghostsniperDecember 4, 2024, 9:44 AM
I’m sorry to hear that Jean. Yes, 27 years is a long time. Half a lifetime ago. We were all different then but still the same. Time is the 4th dimension that ties it all together.

Who Am I? by Carl Sandburg
My head knocks against the stars.
My feet are on the hilltops.
My finger-tips are in the valleys and shores of universal life.
Down in the sounding foam of primal things I reach my hands and play with pebbles of destiny.
I have been to hell and back many times.
I know all about heaven, for I have talked with God.
I dabble in the blood and guts of the terrible.
I know the passionate seizure of beauty
And the marvelous rebellion of man at all signs reading “Keep Off.”
My name is Truth and I am the most elusive captive in the universe.
Duty, Beauty, Liberty, Country, Honor, Family, Faith — Plus a few simple easy to follow rules for guys
Men saw the stars at the edge of the sea
They thought great thoughts about liberty
Poets wrote down words that did fit
Writers wrote books
Thinkers thought about it
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
Many’s the road I have walked upon
Many’s the hour between dusk and dawn
Many’s the time
Many’s the mile
I see it all now
Through the eyes of a child
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
And close your eyes
Leave it all for a while
Leave the world
And your worries behind
You will build on whatever is real
And wake up each day
To a new waking dream
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Change, change come over
Change come over
Talkin’ about a change
Change, change
Change come over, now
Change, change, change come over
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light

Uh-oh folks, Jean’s goin’ there!
Yes it counts Jean, but we need detail! LOL
I’ll just say it was disappointing.
