The New American Digest is now just over three months old. In that time I’ve striven to create posts and items for your enlightenment, entertainment, and information. Although always a kind of boutique operation, I like to think that The New American Digest delivers, as the Brits say, “Value for money.”
There are now more than 140 posts here with more at the door. (see above and below for sample headlines)
In a heartening response, this page has hundreds of members. Of these, some hundreds are “free” memberships. This means that members with a free account see many but not all of the posts here. I’m hoping to keep it that way.
If you are one of my free members I would like to ask you to consider becoming a paid member. Your support enables me to work on more personal posts, my forthcoming book of essays, The Name in the Stone, and write some of the many hundreds of drafts I maintain like those shown above and below.

Gerard—I cannot sign-in to the New American Digest, as it says I am not a paying member. I took a look at my bank statement, and it seems that the last payment of $10 was 10/24/2022. I had signed-in and commented as recently as yesterday or the day before.
Suggestions?

Well there is some glitch somewhere because the member roster says the subscription ended yesterday as far as paying went. I guess the ten bucks from October finally ran out of juice. The sub is supposed to be $10 per month. So something didn’t register. I’ve switched you over to fully comped for now so it may have changed. If not let me know. Tis a puzzlement.
I’ll go ahead and re-register so that you get your dough and I get your thoughts.

There is a problem with mine too, Gerard. I signed up at your launch,
get the private posts in my mailbox but have never been able to comment.
Yesterday I got an administrative message with a link, WAS able to comment
for an hour but then was asked to subscribe. Also, my name shows (I prefer jd)
and there’s sub-text under it which wasn’t my conscious doing.
