Noted in Passing: “Starlink service is now active in Ukraine”

Elon Musk Praised For Coming To Ukraine’s Rescue: ‘Pushes A Button And Changes The Course Of History’ “Starlink provides high-speed, low-latency broadband internet across the globe. Within each coverage area, orders are fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis,” the company says. “Using advanced satellites in a low orbit, Starlink enables video calls, online gaming, streaming, and other high data rate activities that historically have not been possible with satellite internet.”

“Starlink is ideally suited for areas where connectivity has been unreliable or completely unavailable,” the company added. “People across the globe are using Starlink to gain access to education, health services, and even communications support during natural disasters.”

Off-Guardian has compiled a list of totally fake news fabricated in the past couple of days. Entertaining but not real. https://off-guardian.org/2022/02/27/7-fake-news-stories-coming-out-of-ukraine/

  • Mike Austin February 27, 2022, 4:32 PM

Excellent news! Now the Ukrainians can know in real time exactly when their government surrenders.

  • KCK February 27, 2022, 4:56 PM

Comms are critical. My hat’s off to EMusk.

Before I went out to work in the studio this afternoon, I noted that the Rooskie tanks were still 30 and 40 miles from Kiev, on both sides east and west. If you read the news, you’d have thought they were in Kiev 2 days ago. Fog and bullshit make the world go round.

Early yesterday the following video was posted, in which Ukrainian infantry and at least one tank (shown) are engaged at a crossroads and lighting up Russian armor like they were Zippos. Watch the infantryman with the Javelin anti tank weapon as he walks up the road like he was back on the block, with the swagger of a young man going to the disco. They are “handling” the Russians. Witness: a bitchslap. (Don’t read the text it’s full of errors – just watch and listen) https://youtu.be/5Q3nvXdoInk

You don’t give a shit, but you must admit we are watching Ukraine, all alone in the world, fighting and making a good show of courage. The reason there is so much good Ukraine news is that the Russians have not wiped out the C3 structure or Ukraine. They have not rendered still the air defense, nor the air force, of Ukraine. They have not (as of a couple of hours ago) seized a major city. They for sure have violated one of the most important elemental principles of war: Simplicity (they attack simultaneously on several axis of advance at the same time). They kind of: SUCK at war. But, they’re big, so there is that.

    • Mike Austin February 27, 2022, 6:01 PM

Here is who agrees with you, and whose side you have taken.

Bush. Biden. Pelosi. Romney. Soros. Hillary. Obama. Kerry. Swalwell. Graham. McConnell. CNN. UN. EU. BBC. Daily Mail. Sean Penn.

      Nice company you keep.

Yes, “so much good Ukraine news…” Umm, it’s not news, it is propaganda. The only “good Ukrainian news” will be when the war is over. There is no news coming out of Ukraine. Can you personally vouch for “good Ukrainian news”? If you say “yes” then I must assume that:

      1. You are on the spot.
      2. You speak Ukrainian and Russian.
      3. You have reliable sources both in and out of government that you have developed over many years.
      4. You are well-versed in Ukrainian history, politics and culture.
      5. You can identify every single Ukrainian and Russian military device at a glance.
      6. You have studied Ukrainian and Russian military tactics.

I admit to none of the above. Thus all I can say is that “Russia invaded Ukraine.” That’s it. All else would be conjecture, guess work and wishful thinking—all of which is useless. When or if the Russian flag flies over Kiev, then we will have real news.

Do Tokyo Rose and Baghdad Bob and Lord Haw-Haw ring any bells?

Yes, the Russians “suck at war”. That’s why Putin took Crimea (2014) and Georgia (2008) with hardly a fight. You might ask Napoleon and Hitler and Charles XII how badly the Russians “suck at war”.

Here is an axiom that has been said about Russia since Peter the Great: “The Russians are not as strong as they seem. The Russians are not as weak as they seem.”

I’m just reading maps, Mike. I can see which news items are fake, or potentially fake.

I’m sorry the war is on, and I’m sorry it isn’t going to the liking of the “Ukraine belongs to Russia” crowd. sarc/

News people are the absolute bottom dwellers of the Earth. They suck ass. I am still angry at how they intentionally, and on purpose, used to fuck up military unit names in the Vietnam war, just to psych out the US military. The news agenda is criminal. But, just because Zelenski’s stock photo is used by a news agency, is no reason to say he isn’t still in Kiev. He took a cell vid of himself, with some govt. guys, and spoke in defiance. Is that a fake? To believe in news as propaganda is wisdom, but to turn facts twice goes too far. No Ghost of Kiev? Yawn. If the Snake Island men were captured (so say the Russians) and not killed, so much the better. Stock vids of Russian planes? Were we born yesterday? News people are idiots of the first order.

Russia invaded Ukraine, and many were surprised that they’d actually do it. Those “many” are fools. I like your Peter the Great quote, however I’m observing Russia with as clear an eye as possible. I’m not overly impressed, and in the progress they’ve made to date my bias has been confirmed. I don’t have to be right, and dare say there is much and very much I don’t know. But I can follow a military operation on a map. Also: I want Ukraine to win, and I hope they do. For the first time, today, I see a possibility of Putin failing in his war aims. Fuck Russia.

      • ghostsniper February 28, 2022, 4:29 AM

You’re 99% right Mike. I don’t “know” Russia invaded Ukraine because of your number 1 bullet point. Same with covid and thousands of other things. ALL media rumors. I’m all about local. Meatspace.

    • Dirk February 28, 2022, 7:37 AM

Not one bullet impacts as the man walks. Amusing

    • Bill Henry February 28, 2022, 8:52 AM

I have been kicking around here for years.. so truly no malice KC… tons of respect for your intellect etc…
I suspect you are about as wrong as you can possibly be. You can tell the quality of a man by his enemies…

How is it the media that has been lying to us non stop for years… the Globohomo hating Putin and Russia in general… all the Russia collusion crap…
And.. people who have eyes to see.. and ears to hear have been saying for years…
The Ukraine is a Global shithole for human trafficking… illicit black market organ harvesting… and a seemingly hotspot for sketchy international finance… just to name a few global abominations… This same media, who wouldn’t give your life or person a second thought, are the ones directing your perception of the Ukraine?????

I am not an expert on the merits of Putin or Russia in general.. but I have to assume that the fact that the very people who have been attacking Western Civilization for the last 75 years… especially the last several years, including election stealing… massive financial fraud… outright suppression of viable and safe drugs in a pandemic… the proliferation of an experimental dna damaging drug and associated mandates… THESE VERY SAME PEOPLE WHO ARE DOING ALL THIS SHIT… are now the ones hating Russia and Putin…

You better stop and look… before you leap… who are your real enemiess????? Are we the Baddies???

      • KCK February 28, 2022, 4:43 PM

I appreciate your comment, Bill. It certainly isn’t Biden and his gang, nor the European leaders, who set the agenda for my “side” in this war. I wish I could be more clearly neutral in my operational and tactical statements, and, while the bravery of Little Ukraine is evident, recognizing this is not an endorsement of any government.

Let’s say Ukraine is Satan’s very agent on earth, and Biden it’s toilet whore. This does not make Russia a good actor. See my logic? In fact, Russia’s actions belie her nature. She’s a bad actor, too. This logic is called “assuming the consequent,” and in other words trying to find good in Russia because “we are bad” or Ukraine is corrupt – it’s unnecessary. It’s simplistic and misguided. Russia can eat shit and die, for all I care. Plus: they suck at maneuver warfare.

The same for NATO. It is a farked up entity, but then one must ask where are we without a NATO? My assessment is we’d be looking at Europe vs Europe wars all over the place, and it must be obvious to anyone not prejudiced how Russia gets all up in your face because you ally to oppose Russia. That circular thinking ain’t right, either.

I am learning as I read comments here, but I can’t see the logic in supporting Russia, and I do see the necessity of fighting her, in one form or another. Someone elsewhere in this thread asks if Russia had cause to invade. yeahh..No. if they don’t like NATO, they can (okay trying to be less caustic with the swearing). Ukraine is a shithole…okay but guess what? Sometimes the guy who bails you out in a barroom fight is not the same guy you’d drink with. Buy him a drink, but that’s about it.

Trump had an on point policy, by engaging Russia (because, shit…it’s an opponent) and he put his boot up NATO’s rear and reformed it. Obama did not send javelins, then Trump did, then Biden quit that then Biden sent some late in the game. sadly, with Trump in charge the Russia war would never have happened. Maybe the dems profiteer from war, but I do not set my agenda off of them, or the news. I just…read maps.

        Thanks, again.

        • Bill Henry February 28, 2022, 5:17 PM

Thanks KC for your response. You make yourself clearly understood. I personally have been vacillating over this issue for days. It is good to see such a reasoned response to this issue and it gives me pause to better research the totality of this global mess…
          Thanks again..
          In Christ

Ukraine and its president Zelenskyy, along with Obama, Biden and the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, were part of the Biden-Burima scandal, which is the main attraction of the Russian collusion nonsense that got President Trump illegally tossed out of the White House. Recall that Hunter Biden was placed on the board of Burisma.

You are defending a nation that took a large part in the overthrow of the American government in November 2020. Biden, Obama, Vindman—himself a Ukrainian—and Zelenskyy were directly involved. It was Ukraine that lined the pockets of Biden, Pelosi and Romney—the very hogs that now squeal the loudest about “Russia, Russia, Russia!”

Zelenskyy helped the Deep State rid itself of Donald Trump. Now Putin is ridding Ukraine of this degenerate piece of shit. Let’s call it Karma.

If the Ukrainian government in not an enemy of the American people, then the word “enemy” has lost all meaning.

    • ghostsniper February 28, 2022, 4:32 AM

If the Ukrainian government in not an enemy of the American people, then the word “enemy” has lost all meaning.
Take note of the US people “standing with Ukraine” for these are the people you will need to introduce to high speed metal soon.

      • Mike Austin February 28, 2022, 6:28 AM

Those celebs and progressives who prattle on about “standing with Ukraine” are just mindless simpletons, mouths with no brains and more than ready to do the bidding of anyone who will listen to them and pay them. Trained seals come to mind.

If some celeb really wants to “stand with Ukraine” he can go over there and fight. He won’t be standing very long.

    • KCK February 28, 2022, 5:15 AM

You cannot know anything about what’s happening in Ukraine right now, but you do know all about Zelensky’s political corruption. A quick search of googGull shows that Biden is a saint, Trump is corrupt, and Hunter is a non-entity. Well, that’s as simple as pie, isn’t it? /sarc.

Look, Zelensky ran on an anti-corruption platform, and the post-Yanukovych Ukraine government is popular. However, as soon as you shake Biden’s hand, your hand is filthy with corruption. I’m afraid I don’t know the state of Ukrainian corruption in recent years, but it’s an easy target to paint and unseemly at this particular point in time to harp on. Corruption, corruption, corruption. If I need corruption to bitch about, I look at Obama, Biden and Clinton. Vindman is a fat infantry officer with no combat medals other than the purple heart, and that is very telling. He was up Trump’s ass for Russian collusion and I’ll bet if you investigated him you’ll find Clinton’s hand up his ass like a puppet.

I’m in no position to defend Ukraine on corruption – geez. Yes, the liberal symphs who put yellow and blue on their facebook and stand with Ukraine disgust me as much as they do you. Again, I can read a map. My question to you is, how to keep the nuclear genie in his bottle? Appease Putin? No. The best way is to dominate his fish-smelling ass.

      • Mike Austin February 28, 2022, 6:55 AM

It is not a case of “appeasing Putin”, but rather a case of discerning whether he had a good reason to go to war. The US always puts forth some casus belli why it is blasting away at hordes of foreigners from 10,000 feet in the sky—and demanding that the world agree. It is understandable that no nation would want the nuclear missiles of its enemy on its border. Cuban Missile Crisis anyone? Would we want Chinese ICBMs in Manitoba?

And how to keep the nuclear genie in his bottle? We managed for 75 years until November 2020 came around and this Obama-Biden crowd poured into Washington DC. In all my study of History going back 45 years, and all my 27 years of teaching the subject, and all my travels across 25 countries, I have never once encountered anything like this feckless, reckless, degenerate, Godless, ignorant and rabid crowd that rules over us. Recall that Biden appointed a drag queen and “queer activist” to oversee nuclear energy waste for the office of the Department of Energy. There’s seriousness for you.

Putin has made it clear for 8 years that Russia would not accept a nuclear Ukraine. Obama and his minions gave Putin a guarantee that it would not happen. Surprise surprise! They lied. And so here we are. Everyone who voted for Biden is guilty. And if World War III breaks out, they will perish along with those who did not. The ruling classes have been pushing for war with Russia for decades. And now they have it.

A question for you: If Satan himself were running Washington DC, how would anything be any different than they are today?

And what can I do about it? Not one damn thing. So let us eat, drink and be merry. We’re just along for the ride.

        • jwm February 28, 2022, 7:19 AM

          Well said, Mike.
Like everyone, I’m following what news I can. Is Russia justified? Was America justified going into Iraq? I fell for the Iraq scam. A lot of us did. And I was thinking the same thing about the nukes, only imagining Chinese missiles in the Baja. We’d be invading Mexico in no time flat.
The same people who stole a presidential election, imposed totalitarian restrictions on everything, raped and murdered anything resembling liberty, burned our cities, and are holding political prisoners are now cheerleading for a war with Russia. But now it’s war, and most everyone seems to be on board with the idea.
Should we be surprised that all the ragmouth NPC’s go along in lockstep with the new narrative without missing a beat? I shouldn’t be, yet somehow I am.

          • Mike Austin February 28, 2022, 8:17 AM

Here is a thought game for you: Since the elites are in the pay of China, then why would they not allow Chinese ICBMs in Mexico or Canada? The elites would use them as a direct threat to the Red States. I can hear now the immense propaganda machine cranking out millions and millions of words how Chinese missiles at our borders are actually a good thing for world peace, diversity and global warming. Half of the country would agree. The other half could not do a damn thing about it.

And consider: What if there already were Chinese theater nuclear weapons in Canada? Canada is bought and paid for, and pony-boy Trudeau is simply a catamite for Globohomo. Certainly nobody in that government nor in ours would admit to such a thing. And then one day those missiles are revealed. Our elites would feign sadness, and admit that—alas!—the US just has to do as China bids, and then would blame Trump. The elites would function as Chinese pro-consuls to Beijing—and get fat paychecks and lots of Chinese girls and boys of whatever age— and Chinese generals would become more and more ubiquitous in the US government and media.

Remember all those rumors a few years back of Chinese soldiers in Canada? The Canadian elite went all-out to dispel them. And then nothing more was heard about them.

Marvin Gaye wondered, “What’s goin’ on?” So do I.

            • jwm February 28, 2022, 8:59 AM

I lost the thought game. I’m going to go bust a rock.

        • KCK February 28, 2022, 5:00 PM

We managed the Cold War (I was there, in uniform, BTW) on the basis of deterrence. Obama, et al., offered anti-leadership, and now here we are. You’re right but you don’t carry the deterrence forward. Elsewhere someone said don’t corner a nuclear carrying bear. Fair enough, but also don’t feed or nurture him, either.

When Putin says he wants NATO off his doorstep, look at how, since the Cold War and WWII, Russia has abused its direct neighbors to keep them out of NATO, Ukraine, Finland, Sweden. I was in this high tower in Helsinki, and my hostess was telling me how the Soves used it as a listening post to spy on the city. Nice neighbors, those Russians.

And, finally, in a war environment, you do not give the other side an inch. Zero. Nothing. It is my opinion that the time for seeing both sides is over when the bullets fly. IOW, in a war, you are either right, or you’re weak. Moralize beforehand, but fight as if you are right. Same goes for our allies.

Here is where I repeat that my “side” is not based on a set of newworldorder oligarchic or democratic party politicians, or their newlings. I swear, my logic is well beyond their insanity. This is the same gang who wanted the US to unilaterally disarm out nukes, remember. The ones who spat on conscripted soldiers returning from Vietnam. They suck ass, and if you scratch their “support” for Europe or Ukraine you’ll find commies who just provide lip service. They care less for others and hate you & I. To the death. Why would I care what their policy statements are?

  • Dirk February 28, 2022, 7:47 AM

interesting that while govt troops fight, appears to be The People doing huge, equal damage. See the parallel between most countries, that being the population of each country ARE, the defining factor in internal war fighting.

While Russia hasn’t committed its best equipment, our govt should be watching intently. Every home in America has a bomb factory under their sinks. Simple cleaning solutions combined are powerful deterrents.

The Molotov cocktail is primitive, yet well shut a tank down in short order.
