Filled up in Chico, California this morning. Price was $6.49 for regular. If I could get my hands on Gavin Newsom I’d part him out at the next neighborhood barbeque. Folks would be lining up for seconds.

Not Man Apart
Then what is the answer?– Not to be deluded by dreams.
To know that great civilizations have broken down into violence,
and their tyrants come, many times before.
When open violence appears, to avoid it with honor or choose
the least ugly faction; these evils are essential.
To keep one’s own integrity, be merciful and uncorrupted
and not wish for evil; and not be duped
By dreams of universal justice or happiness. These dreams will
not be fulfilled.
To know this, and know that however ugly the parts appear
the whole remains beautiful. A severed hand
Is an ugly thing and man dissevered from the earth and stars
and his history… for contemplation or in fact…
Often appears atrociously ugly. Integrity is wholeness,
the greatest beauty is
Organic wholeness, the wholeness of life and things, the divine beauty
of the universe. Love that, not man
Apart from that, or else you will share man’s pitiful confusions,
or drown in despair when his days darken.

Where the Sidewalk Ends
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.
Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.
Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

It won’t work, Gerard. No amount of low and slow is going to render him edible, and besides, Cali folks think tri-tip is the apex meat.
Run him through the meat grinder on the fine setting and let the dingo’s and buzzards have at it.
Why do you hate your guests, Gerard?
Here’s a link to the AAA map of gas prices across the country:

It looks like Gerard would have to drive to Montana to get any significant relief (won’t even guess the cost of driving that far).
PS. Gerard: your spam filter doesn’t like my link to the CDC in a previous post even though I did my best to sanitize the s-word.
Don’t try to work with the spam filter. It is stooooopid. I’ll be around in one to eight hours to dig you out
Hum, wonder if I can develop a smuggling route, Alaska to Russia’s wild wild east, trade Marlboro’s for gasoline.
95 octane??? I want some of that for my Caddy!
