Noted in Passing: I have conversations like this with my cat, Olive, every day with the same result

Mine have to do with furbutt on keyboard, but it’s the same principle.

Same with my Mutt Shannon. And squirrels. I’ve studied this, over years, and can’t figure it out. She just. cannot. leave. them. alone. I’ll be sitting on the porch with her and she’s crashed out. Then, with a gnashing of toenails on the floor and the frantic splaying of limbs as she gets up at lightspeed, then whoosh, barreling down the deck at full speed and over the rail at the end and a dead gallop across the yard. Just to stand there at the tree staring up and wandering around it’s base, still staring up, and that silly squirrel way up there chattering and it’s tail going 90 mph. “Curses, foiled again”, says Shannon. Then she becomes aware I am standing over here staring at her and she comes sauntering back and stands at the gate wanting me to let her back on the porch. 10 mins later I’m reading my book and Shannon’s sleeping at my feets. Waiting for the next squirrel…..

That emu reminded me of one of my ex-wives. I can’t remember which one.

I’m thinking that ghost’s Shannon just might be a Democrat– as in Look! A squirrel!
