Noted in Passing: Is “Biden” Demented? “Apparently yes!”

The situation is about to quickly escalate, probably in the next days | The Vineyard of the Saker

Today, I want to begin with a small allegorical story.

One upon a time, there was a bear sleeping in his lair and minding his business.  One day, a small group of rodents decided to have some fun time pestering the bear.  So they began running around, making a lot of noise (some even dared the bear to come out and fight them) and even threw colorful little pebbles at the bear.  The bear mostly ignored them hoping they would eventually tire from that silly behavior and go away.  But the rodents not only stayed, they began pelting the bear with even more pebbles and, sure enough, what had to happen happened: one pebble (with “ridiculous genocide claim” written on it) landed right on the eyelid of the bear and that *really* pissed the bear off.  He finally got up, moved to the entrance of his lair and looked at the scurrying rodents.  The bear wondered, what shall he do with these little rodents next?  The rodents wondered about the same thing.  And so they told the bear that if he dares leave his lair, they will pelt him with even more pebbles, so he better not move.  What do you think the bear will do next?

***

Yesterday Putin gave a quite amazing (and short) press conference.  Not only did he declare that Russia recognizes the LDNR Republics in their own, legal, borders (i.e. the full Donetsk and Lugansk regions), he also listed the four steps needed to be taken by the Ukraine to avoid a direct, unilateral, Russian action:

The Ukraine must recognize Crimea and Sevastopol as Russian territory
The Ukraine must officially renounce joining NATO
The Ukraine must negotiate a settlement with the LDNR Republics
The Ukraine must be demilitarized and declared neutral

This is clearly an ultimatum, but this time, to the authorities in Kiev.

As for the USA – the likely increase in the costs of energy (oil and gas) will provide an even further boost to the already very high inflation. But does “Biden” care?

Nope. “Biden” is so drunk on his ideological delusions that he rather accept an even worse inflation if that can hurt Russia (which it won’t, but nevermind that). That his sanctions won’t really hurt Russia is entirely irrelevant, in Zone A all that matters is make believe and verbiage. Facts don’t matter one bit.

I have been saying it for a long while already: there is no “US policy” left, all that’s left is chaos, corruption, gross incompetence, maniacal delusion of still being the planet’s Sheriff combined with a rather comical belief that the US can scare Russia into submission.

Joe, in Russia’s long history much stronger leaders than you have already tried that. Do you want to end like them?

Apparently yes!

In fact, the US has announced that there will be no Putin Biden meeting and no Lavrov Blinken meeting either. I am sure that both Putin and Lavrov are sobbing in abject fear and total despair…

There is a good chance that all this will end up with a full severance of diplomatic relations between Russia and the USA (along with a few EU Tabakis à la UK).

Furthermore, to show the “determination of the US led free West” the US is sending a few hundred extra troops to the Latvia. And some helicopters from Italy to Poland. And if that was not terrifying enough, Canada’s Trudeau is also sending a few hundred extra Canadian troops to the Baltics.

At this pace, in a few weeks NATO might have a “combined regiment” safely tucked away somewhere in Poland or the Baltics, while knowing full well that Russia will never use any force against the 3B simply because Russia has exactly zero interest in, or desire for, them or their lands.

Again, Putin said that he fully intends to disarm the Ukraine, at least from all her heavy weapons. Since the Ukies won’t give them up, I see only one way to achieve this: disarm them by force.

So, in one way or another, I expect major combat action in the Eastern Ukraine in the next couple of days.

Keep in mind that the West’s response to Putin’s words and actions only serve to further convince Russia that 1) more sanctions and subversion is inevitable 2) violence is unavoidable.

Remember these famous words by Putin: “Fifty years ago, the streets of Leningrad taught me one thing: If a fight’s inevitable, you must strike first“? . . . .

I regret that I didn’t know what an ass-wipe Stephen King was years ago. I also regret every minute I’ve given him, reading his books. Fortunately, they were library loaners, so not one penny of mine went to him. What a jerk.

    • Casey Klahn February 23, 2022, 2:49 PM

He thinks Biden is “The Man!” Is he an imbecile?

    • Vanderleun February 23, 2022, 4:36 PM

I regret I published Stephen King twice in the early part of his career, pre Carrie, with “The Ledge” and “Children of the Corn.” Deeply regret it now that he’s just a broken old man shouting at the sky.

      • julie February 23, 2022, 5:57 PM

I loved his writing back when I was in my late teens/ early 20s. Then I grew out of him, and he lost me completely when he wrote himself into one of his stories. So utterly stupid, I could never get past it.

      • Joe Krill February 24, 2022, 5:23 PM

Stephen King looks in the mirror each night and fawns over the image looking back at him. You be da man Stevie. No longer dealing with Trump? That is why he is doing what he is doing.

    • ghostsniper February 23, 2022, 4:44 PM

      Same.
Never cared for Kings type of writing to invest in actually reading them, until my wife bought me the first 3 books of the Dark Tower series. I inhaled them and then all the rest in the series. Then I stopped. About 5 years ago I put all of them in one of them little library boxes along the road.

  • Joe February 23, 2022, 2:33 PM

    still have a little TDS.

  • gwbnyc February 23, 2022, 2:34 PM

Stephen King is the dumbest fucking dry drunk on the planet.

Someone call his old lady and tell her he slipped his chain again.

  • Mike Austin February 23, 2022, 3:04 PM

Putin is giving the entire world an advanced seminar on “Power Politics”. The classes so far:

    1. “How to Gain Power”
    2. “How to Keep Power”
    3. “How to Use Power”

Be sure to take lots of notes.

  • lady ignatz February 23, 2022, 4:52 PM

S King is a dented, rusty tin can kicked to the curb, bits of stinking slop sliding out of its maw. I never really ‘read’ him except to say I ‘read’ him. He’s got allot of hate in that twisted brain of his.

  • TrangBang68 February 23, 2022, 5:46 PM

Dang, Boy Trudy of the feared Canada is sending 100 of his finest Brownshirts to the party. I hope he sends the fierce high testosterone warrior who used his horse to trample the old lady in the walker. Just the thought of that will send Spetnaz running for the hills. I wonder if General Thoroughly Post Modern Millie is activating the 69th All Degenerate Brigade to send over,

  • TeeRoy Jenkins February 23, 2022, 6:34 PM

I enjoyed the Stand and I enjoyed the Roland character in the Dark Tower series more than the story. Other than that, he’s obviously not very bright

This war is done and over, it’s checkmate and everybody knows it. Only thing that’s going to happen is a little death on the Russian side and a whole lot of death on the Uke side. He was nice and just shut down banks and .gov today. They’re going to shit when traditional comms go down along with power grids. This ain’t Haji they’re fucking with.

  • Dirk February 23, 2022, 7:35 PM

While many here may disagree with King, this is still the United States, thus his free speech is equal to all of ours.

Prefer a man, or woman who has the balls to say what they mean. I’ve had the honor of being called ass hole, idiot by many great men. I admire each and every one of them.

We start tip toeing around here, we’ve lost the ability to effectively communicate.

    • Vanderleun February 24, 2022, 12:31 AM

I take your point, Dirk. Hadn’t thought of it like that. Good point.

      • Boat Guy February 24, 2022, 1:06 AM

King’s right to speak is equal; his speech itself is the braying of an ass.

        • Vanderleun February 24, 2022, 7:25 AM

          I take your point too.

    • Mike Austin February 24, 2022, 2:25 AM

“Free Speech” so-called is one thing. Avoiding the consequences of it is another. Dirk, would you support a man who publicly referred to your daughters as whores? Or your grandchildren as illegitimate? Would you, as you claim, therefore “admire him”?

“Free Speech” as envisioned by the Founders was only possible in a moral environment that no longer exists—and has not for decades. “Free Speech” has now become setting American flags on fire, teaching 3 year olds how to masturbate and disseminating far and wide the most grotesque pornography imaginable. Do you support and “admire” those who do this? How about that work of art called “Piss Christ”? Or the photos of Robert Mapplethorpe? These too are examples of “free speech”.

“Free Speech” has been called “speaking truth to power”. Left out of that noble idea is the consequence of doing so. Not even John Adams believed in it. After signing into law his “Alien and Sedition Acts” (1798) he tossed hundreds into prison for criticizing his regime. Just as President Wilson did in the Palmer Raids (1919). Just as the Brandon administration does today.

Voltaire wrote “I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.” Who really believes such nonsense today?

      • Dirk February 24, 2022, 6:53 AM

Mike, I could give a flying fuck what King says or does. He means that little to me. Opinions are like assholes, we all have one. Right wrong indifferent.

I get your point, I’ve mentioned the words “ Group Think”, truly a scary place to be caught in.

        Let the opinions flow.

Mike if King called my daughter a whore, it’s not me he needs to worry about, Lauren will tune his ass up, face to face. She quit resourceful, a school teacher as a matter of fact.

Mike we don’t spend a lot of time around here in argument, your 68? Im 65. We’re busy playing, living and loving. No time for nonsense going on in govt. I’ve said this often here, nothing, has changed on my mountain. I don’t anticipate any major changes here.

IT comes, we addresses it, move thru it.

        Dirk

    • Snakepit Kansas February 24, 2022, 3:48 AM

I don’t think anybody here suggested that King not be allowed to demonstrate his foolishness. He simply got torched for doing so.

  • KCK February 23, 2022, 9:59 PM

Let’s see. Some random notes as I am about to go to bed but Kiev is waking up to a kinetic day.
    1. Biden is as useless as tits on a bull. If anyone in DC had half an ounce of decency, they’d lock him in his office without comms for the rest of the day. Send in ice cream and dancers.
    2. The domestic situation in the US and the West (hold that thought: the West, or Europe, is in the prop wash right now) – anyway – our state of affairs within our borders is more critical than Europe because when we lose freedom, that’s the end.
    3. I note that France has signed surrender documents already.
    4. If Ukraine had just reached 100% vax status things would be going much better for them.
    5. Rumors abound as to what is happening in Ukraine, but don’t believe about 99% of what you read. No way there’s an airborne assault on the Kiev airport, because that requires a follow-up by tanks and they are weeks away.
    6. Bombs and preparatory fires are hitting C3 inside Ukraine. C3 is command, control and communication. Next they’ll hit combat forces and counter-mobility targets to isolate the combat forces. Next they’ll roll in the tank columns. Watch to see how many Russian tanks break down on the roads. I noted that one that did had its antennae removed.
    7. Russia’s tanks look like a yard sale on tracks. The bed springs observed overhead are to prevent newer weaponry that drops vertically and smartly onto the less-armored top decks. The segmented add-on armor is reactive because a sabot round uses just kinetic energy, and not an explosion, to punch a hole. The laundry racks and reactive armor chunks interrupt the chain of events that occurs when a sabot hits. Take-away: tanks are extremely vulnerable.
    8. Watch for belching black exhaust from all Russian vehicles – it will indicate maintenance failures.
    9. Watch for a stutter on the road from the border to Kyiv – this will indicate command troubles for the Russians.
    10. IMEO, if the Russians actually do start landing troops amphibiously, and I mean actually not just reports of such, then the war on the Black Sea is lost fro NATO. I mean it indicates that.
    11. Watch the Med like a hawk. The carrier groups (US, French, Italian) will be the tell-tale indicator of what’s going on. If they don’t fire shots or launch air kinetics, it means NATO is keeping its cool. If the big ships leave the Med, it means Johnson, Biden and NATO have lost their nerve. Russia will possibly threaten the ships, but that’s a sign of weakness.
    12. Horde some stuff at home, because the truck convoy and gas prices and probably war fatigue will possibly damage our supply lines of goods.
    13. Take care of yourself extra good. Grooming, exercise, eat right. Have a good disciplined online information flow, but not too much. The bullshit you listen to will clog your arteries. Find time to relax.

    • Boat Guy February 24, 2022, 1:09 AM

Numbers 12 and 13 ought to be routine, though I call it “stocking” vice “hoarding”. As for “horde” … spell check is not your friend

    • ghostsniper February 24, 2022, 4:56 AM

      Good stuff Casey.

      • KCK February 24, 2022, 6:38 AM

Thanks, Boat Guy and Ghostie. Although the new edit function has saved my writing much pain, I still have managed to get around its goodness. I use the word hoard to express exactly what I do, because it pisses off liberals. The very definition of an urbanite, is: “bad at hoarding”.

  • Francis W. Porretto February 24, 2022, 1:13 AM

Someone should advise Mr. King to stick to horror. He’s a total failure at comedy.

  • Dirk February 24, 2022, 7:21 AM

    Awesome Casey,

The American truck convoy is copy cat, not an organic movement like the Canadian truckers. The timing, the conditions are vastly different. The Canadians accomplished much of value with their movement.

I don’t see the American convoy accomplishing much, if anything. The intent of the convoy is outstanding, it’s the presentation which is non climatic.

Na your time, your money are better spent tightening stuff up around home. Food, a fall back place or 12. The incompetence of this admin is going to prove overwhelming, by design.

    Dirk

Picture me as that guy in Bastogne (famous photograph) wearing his wool army blanket, back to the fence, and saying: “this is as far as I go!” IOW, my homestead is my final fallback, and well designed as such. It’s a blessing.

Agreed on the truck convoy. It needs a different set of primary and alternative goals, and probably one is to shine a light on the rat colony that is DC.

    • Tom Hyland February 24, 2022, 9:12 AM

Gary Barnett is a retired economist living in Montana. Never obey in the first place and none of this crap ever would have happened. Not just recent crap… but ALL crap. If the US truckers are driving to Washington DC to behave like the Canadians the government is going to have to build a bigger prison to contain the newest insurrectionists. https://www.lewrockwell.com/2022/02/gary-d-barnett/if-it-can-happen-in-canada-it-can-happen-here/

    Intel update ^

Looks like a marine invasion of Odessa. That’s bad.

If the spec ops guys are at the Kiev airport, it’s to preserve the airfields and not a main attack. A paratrooper attack would require near tank forces to rescue their lightly powdered asses, and that’s not today’s situation.

The vid author makes a good point that although NATO heavy lifters are circumspect in this war, our spooks and spec ops guys are always up to something. It got me thinking: what would they be doing? Be advised that, although I don’t know much about it, the overview is that the kinetic types (Delta and Rangers) are unoccupied because there isn’t a need given NATOs profile in this war. However, the snoops (the primary occupation of special operators is reconnaissance) will be gathering info and watching things for the higher command. What that would be is only a guess, but I think they’re watching the doors (borders). Some may be active steeling the spines of Ukrainian spec ops units, by standing in the shadows and lateralling cool and deadly objects at them.

The SEALs, when not bouncing rubber balls off their noses, will be very busy, and the main job for them will be to keep the fleet command informed on Russian shit. Where the Rooskie deadly stuff is, where the command is and what they eat for breakfast, anything unusual. Stuff that humint provides and electronic and space based ears do not.

    Enjoy your day.

A dozen Russian tanks destroyed by medium anti-tank weapons. Firing a Javelin by hand, as a grunt and at a tank is like running under an elephant and driving your sword into his underbelly, or like sword fighting a motherfukn dragon. You might piss him off. Location: Main avenue of advance to Kiev.
Location: Belarus front: entire Russian platoon of motorized infantry captured by Ukrainian forces.

File under OTOH: entire Ukraine navy destroyed in port at Odessa.
