Noted in Passing: 2 Timothy 3

3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

From: 2 Timothy 3 KJV – This know also, that in the last days – Bible Gateway

[Backstory: While waiting in a long line today at Hobby Lobby I randomly picked up Phil Robertson’s new book, The Theft of America’s Soul: Blowing the Lid Off the Lies That Are Destroying Our Country . I opened it at random to his citation of 2 Timothy 3. I seldom use scripture here online and I never want to be seen as someone trying to sell you a bible. At the same time, I was “passing by” the book and I “noted” the citation as something eerily apt for this present age where Shadow seems to be ascending.]

Truth is truth, wherever one finds it. The Bible happens to be full of it, for those with eyes to see.

One thing I wonder, as we watch what is happening in the world, is just how often has this cycle come to pass? It is easy to think, because we have technology such as the world has never seem before, that our current age of rule by corruption is somehow worse than has ever been seen, but then you crack open the Old Testament, or read a history of almost any given kingdom or empire, and see the same story played out, time and again. Struggle, success, comfort, forgetfulness, corruption; wicked shepherds who hate their flocks, wicked foreign kings who hate their subjects, wicked world leaders who are all too willing to visit horrors on their own people for… well, I don’t really know, because I can’t think of anything that would entice me to treat people that way.

It’s the end times, one way or another. Doesn’t mean the sun won’t rise tomorrow, though, and in the meantime, as always, we have this day.

Israel was going to end. Really End.

As in, no more altar, no more temple, no more animal sacrifices, no more priesthood, no more tribal identification, no more genealogies, no more Jerusalem. 2,000 years of being God’s portal to humanity: done.

Did you read what Jesus had to say about that generation in Matthew 23?
Did you hear what He said was going to happen to Jerusalem and the Temple in Luke 21?
Did you hear what Jesus had to say to the women who were mourning Him as he went to his crucifixion?
Israel had 37 years before Titus lowered the boom and destroyed it all. All of it.
It just got worse from AD33 to AD70.
Paul is simply telling Timothy how bad it was going to get during that 37 year span.

    Then, The End.

We in our hubris read that and always — always — apply it to *our* generation in *our* nation.

Can/will America be judged? Yes. 60,000,000 aborted babies — the gift of life, spurned. God’s moral law overtly disregarded. We do so to our own destruction.

“In God We Trust” on our money yet God denied by every institution, replaced by the random chance of Darwinian natural selection.

The belief we can change male to female at will.

Are these The Last Days? Or merely Our Last Days?

  • ghostsniper August 14, 2021, 4:48 AM

Dan axed: “Are these The Last Days? Or merely Our Last Days?”
    ========
As far as I’m concerned it is THEIR last days.
I still have a lot of road in front of me.

It’s interesting that you should note this (the above verses) in passing, Gerard, as just the other day my oldest brother posted those verses on the book of faces, as a lament of sorts for some of his children who have succumbed to the fear (lies) regarding the lethality of the Gain of Function Flue (manmade) and the so called vaccines, causing division within the family. Dire and prophetic words, no matter what generation they are spoken to or about, are those verses from II Timothy.

But, he closed his book of faces post with these words from Proverbs 19:21:

Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.

While I understand that I am closer to the end than to the beginning, God willing I will live long enough to engage in battle and defeat thine enemies.

From Van Morrison a proper (spiritual) battle song:

Be Thou my vision, oh Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that thy art
Thou my best thought in the day and the night
Waking or sleeping, Thou presence my light

Be Thou my wisdom, be Thou my true word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me Lord
Thou my great Father and I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee one

Be Thou my breastplate, my sword for the fight
Be Thou my armor and be Thou my might
Thou my soul shelter and Thy my high tower
Raise Thou me heavenwards, oh power of my power

Riches I need not, nor man’s empty praise
Thou mine inheritance through all of my days
Thou and Thou only though first in my heart
High King of Heaven my treasure Thou art

Oh high King of Heaven, when battle is done
Grant Heaven’s joy to me, bright Heaven sun
Christ of my own heart, whatever befall
Still be my vision, though ruler of all

    “I randomly picked up”
    “I opened it at random”
“… “passing by” the book and I “noted” …”

I my experience with this, He doesn’t waste his time.

It’s always interesting seeing how people handle the Word of God.
For some it’s historical explanation of events from long past.
Others it’s a mystical writing interspersed with good human wisdom.
Then there’s the people who speak as though it’s a active, living, love letter written with deep personal meaning that when communicated lifts them to heaven’s heights.
That’s when the real trouble begins because those who are left out claim it’s impossible that the God of Heaven would choose to reveal himself in a way, the bible, that doesn’t work for them.
Saving Faith is not so easy to explain to those who refuse salvation, tho children receive it gladly.
Truly I will have arrived to be simply like Onesimus.

    You want plans, Dirk?

The best plan I know of is ora et labora. The Lord has shown me, time and again, that my plans are not His plans, and that His plans always bear good fruit – if I let them. Learn it often enough, and the plan becomes to pray, listen, follow, and focus on this day.

  • EX-Californian Pete August 14, 2021, 9:28 AM

Yes, it appears we ARE in the last of days.

Those with good hearts and souls see it, recognize it, and fight it.
Those who are evil, and who shun God and righteousness are bringing the end times. They are the worst of fools. They are the damned.

And if you think it’s gotten intolerably bad at this point, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. The Book Of Revelations explains that there’s a LOT more “bad” coming down the road.

Dirk- many of us have plans, and many of us have been planning for the end times for most of our lives. Not posting one’s plans here doesn’t necessarily equate to not having plans.
And like John Venlet posted above- “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”

The Bible is full of wisdom for those who would seek the Truth. God guides us each day to open our eyes, mind, and spirit to His Truth. We only have to open our hearts. Lately, I have commented to my family that never in my life did I imagine that I would hear the hoof beats of the Four Horsemen, but there is no doubt that they are gathered, pawing at the ground, and straining at the bit. I find great comfort in music and find solace and hope in these two songs:

    The Hymn of St. Patrick
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zBnCjDcDMKo

Valaam Monks- Oh Lord of Hosts
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vLQtAxlark

Above all, we must fight against fear and help those around us to not give in to fear and despair. Fear is how they control people. Do not give them that power over you. Watch over one another and guard your own heart.

Julie, good morning, I want truth Julie, if your solutions working for you Your truly blessed. “ I believe you are blessed, your a kind soul.

I learned as a young man that life leads us, we don’t lead life. So so many variables.

This I know, the road to hell is paved with good intentions good frank plans. Isn’t it amusing at just how much “ Luck” plays into life.

Pete my friend, I don’t agree, this place is just warming up, just history repeating itself. We have the skills to fix what ails us, the question is,,,,,,to we have the balls to do what needs done?

My answer changes daily, to that one.

    Dirk

Dirk- I don’t believe in “luck.” The word “luck” is like the word “magic” to me- both words describe things that are either deceitful, or unexplained. I believe in fortune and misfortune.

And I agree that history is repeating itself- most great civilizations in the past only lasted a couple (or a few) hundred years before they were destroyed by the same things- evil and human nature. We are taught history so as to try and avoid those mistakes of our ancestors, but that pesky “human nature” usually comes back into play and overrides common sense, reality, and facts.

Yes, we may have the skills to fix society’s ills, but unfortunately we seem to be outnumbered by the willfully ignorant, the cowardly, the evil, and those whose only goals are controlling or gaining power over the masses.
We cannot force the masses to see and recognize the truth, nor can we successfully change human nature on a large enough scale to reverse the damage already done. And no one can (or ever should) force another person to read the Bible or believe in God- it’s a personal choice given to mankind.

And to me, what dictates and defines the quality, happiness, success, and prosperity in our lives is the choices we make. It’s also what defines us.

    Foxhole? Don’t see any atheists.

  • Dirk August 14, 2021, 11:39 AM

Hi Pete, I’m fine with your words how you view stuff. Wasn’t jamming you, just speaking my mind. My mind is constantly asking “ What If” . I recognize we are right exactly where our history says we should be.

I’m sorry but I don’t share your views on fixing things. We DO have the numbers, what we lack is the courage, the discipline, to do what’s needed. You see it differently , I’m fine with that.

If a man, or woman insists on being right all the time, ain’t nobody learning anything. What I see, the way I see it, works for me. Should we disagree, no worries. I Expect you do do life your way.

Brother, life won’t work any other way.

Apropos of absolutely nothing to do with this topic, I made the Holy Cookies today.
I’m not sure they’re holy but the recipe is certainly a blessing and a welcome break from the world’s madness.
    Thank you Gerard, for sharing.

  • Vanderleun August 14, 2021, 1:17 PM

You are more than welcome. The Holy Cookie cures many ills. But only when coupled with the sacrament of fresh cold milk.

Jesus of Nazareth, in the Sermon on the Mount, warned us of wolves in sheep’s clothing.

LTC Dave Grossman told us the tale of The Sheep, the Wolf, & the Sheepdog.

Bill Whittle talked about the Tribes in America.

I tell you that Wolves in Sheepdog’s Clothing, such as our current “Department of Justice” are the ultimate evil. I have faced many things in my 70++ years. The treatment of the 1/6 defendants scares me as I’ve never been scared before. I was born into a world jackboots. Looks like I’ll depart during the rerun.

Kevin and Annie; thanks for those links. And always the bow to Gerard, who gathers us.

  • EX-Californian Pete August 14, 2021, 6:34 PM

    Dirk-

Hey, I know you weren’t jammin’ me. We just differ on a few things.
Maybe we do have the numbers, but it’s hard to add up those numbers when (as you said) ‘those without courage and discipline’ aren’t standing up to be counted. Any undisciplined coward is pretty much worthless when the need arises to depend on them. I wouldn’t rely on one to have my 6.

“If a man, or woman insists on being right all the time, ain’t nobody learning anything.”
    Amen, brother.
I’ll add- “When you correct a fool, it will anger him. When you correct a wise man, he will thank you.”
That’s why it’s usually a lot of fun correcting Libtards- they always explode.

And count me in as a Sheepdog.

Morning Pete a ways back had a good STRONG Christian friend drop by. I just happened to be loading fifteen m4 mags. I greeted him, and he asked what I was doing, I smiled said, ya know David, I’m just preparing a response.

Davis said very confidently, Not Me, gods got me scheduled out on the first boat, how about you Dirk.

I thought for a minute as I continued to load mags, looked at David and said, brother I’m not so sure,,,,,, so I’m hedging my bet, I may have to fight my way to that boat.

As much as I’d like to be a Good Man, I realize WE don’t get to make that pronouncement, it is those around us, who make that judgement, usually after ones dead! That’s to late for my likes!
