Who Am I? by Carl Sandburg
My head knocks against the stars.
My feet are on the hilltops.
My finger-tips are in the valleys and shores of
universal life.
Down in the sounding foam of primal things I
reach my hands and play with pebbles of
destiny.
I have been to hell and back many times.
I know all about heaven, for I have talked with God.
I dabble in the blood and guts of the terrible.
I know the passionate seizure of beauty
And the marvelous rebellion of man at all signs
reading “Keep Off.”
My name is Truth and I am the most elusive captive
in the universe.
Duty, Beauty, Liberty, Country, Honor, Family, Faith — Plus a few simple easy to follow rules for guys
The Vault
Take It Where You Find It
Men saw the stars at the edge of the sea
They thought great thoughts about liberty
Poets wrote down words that did fit
Writers wrote books
Thinkers thought about it
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
Many’s the road I have walked upon
Many’s the hour between dusk and dawn
Many’s the time
Many’s the mile
I see it all now
Through the eyes of a child
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
And close your eyes
Leave it all for a while
Leave the world
And your worries behind
You will build on whatever is real
And wake up each day
To a new waking dream
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Change, change come over
Change come over
Talkin’ about a change
Change, change
Change come over, now
Change, change, change come over
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light

I should not have been surprised.
I do not have the sports gene. Even when I was a kid I never thought playing ball games was fun. Spectator sports have always stuck me as pointless and boring. Nonetheless I appreciate the role the games and teams play in our culture. I understand the concept of sports team fandom even though I don’t participate.
Still, the loss of spectator sports is tragic. It saddens me as much as any other phase of the current madness.
But the scum running the sports teams have allowed their franchises to become just one more pulpit for woke sermonizing.
Fuck them to hell. And fuck every professional athlete to hell. And fuck their shitty causes straight to hell along with ’em. Let sports die the death they have earned. That’s the nicest thing I can say about it.

As John Goodman’s character ‘Creighton’ said so succinctly, in “Treme”…..fuck you you fucking fucks.
I don’t have the sports gene either unless it’s behind the barrels of a good over and under or an accurate rifle and in those event I’m always usually a contender. Same same with fly, switch and spey rods, anywhere.
My wife’s dad was a semi-pro golfer and sports nut so she was raised on ‘bally’ sports and loves football, baseball, golf, tennis and basketball and I accept that about her because I love her and I’m happy when she’s happy but I wouldn’t give $0.15 worth of horse shit for any of the sports that so engulf the masses.
I played the hell out of all sports in my youth but by the time I got to driving age all that stuff was kids play. Never watched any of it, cept a little straightline racing now and then. Hadn’t seen any racing for more’n 10 years then happened some NHRA yesterday afternoon and I was disappointed but it was my own fault for staying away so long. Everybody was masked up, at least half the ground crew were females and a quarter of the drivers were female. But the worst part was all the cars are automatics and the quarter is now 1000 feet. I turned it off. Permanently.
Ball sports are done. And I was a big fan. Honey, the game is on! Get me a beer!!
The company I am controller of has had season tickets to the World Champion KC Royals for years. Thankfully my boss thinks like I do, but as a good employee I waited for him to take the initiative and ask me to take action.
As directed, I emailed the team two weeks ago (patience right?) and told them we were “no longer interested in the MLB product”. We receive our full year refund last week. We will NOT be going back.
Damn nice seats right behind home plate too. F’em, I’m going riding on my HOG.
Hey, Ump! Who died and made you Commissar?!
