Radical Roots and the Conquest of the Democratic Party

Yes, the leftist takeover of the Democratic Party is frightening.

Nope. I parted company with Mari at some point. Didn't notice when it left, just noticed that, after awhile, it wasn't around.

The finest and best chronicle of what the road to here was like for you, me and, I suppose, millions. But, while Mari might not be in the
house or even the neighborhood, we'd know where to find her if that fancy crossed our minds. A song that comes to mind is Last Dance with Mary Jane by Tom Petty. Rock on dude.

I disagree in only one area. I agree that the Left is rushing to get behind the Kennedy/Pelosi Democrats, but those players themselves are just doing their usual dance with the moonbats. The kitty must be fed and all, but Teddy couldn't care less about any of the stuff he preaches to the Lefties.

What they're doing is setting themselves up as the radical wing, at which point Hillary will be sent in to rein them in and centrify the party. The moonbats will ride along because they always hear what they want to from Democrats and assume any centrism is a charade.

I always laughed when right-wingnuts told me Hillary was determined to regain the White House and Marxify the country, but after that tolerance speech I am not even chuckling.

Never underestimate the Lefty capacity for self-delusion or the cynicism of politicians. The moonbats are getting tooled--again. It should be fun to watch them "adapt" and sell out everything they ever professed to believe.

When an American legislator repeats one the communist manifesto planks: "from those with the ability, to those with the need" - my blood boils, and mostly for the simple reason that I know most dupes just nod in agreement. I saw Hillary & Kucinich say that.

I liken Hillery's chameleon antics to her donning her centrist Trojan outfit in preparation for '08. It makes me sick to think she's privy to all the high level stuff being on the Armed Forces commitee - from a Chicago Eight defense team member, to a regular GI Jane. Huh?

Which reminds, does the right have a sufficient portfolio of Hillary statements, video of her early days, etc.?? We need another SwiftVets scenario, eh?

She would make the impact of Slick's tax hikes look like childs play. Of course "they'd" own the rising economy and take credit for it yet again. We all know we are still in a systemic LT growth path thanks to RWR (28%), the economic juice of the Contract w/America, in spite of the tax hikes in '93 to 40+%, all hitting the wall; an ostrich Reno, Y2K, Clinton/Rubin strong dollar policy, and the always present for market crashes, Fed'l Reserve.

America's problems are far deeper than it's radical left wing, although they have been considerable. What of the Corporate/Political revolving door? What of the fact that the Rockefeller created CFR has been the incubator for every US Executive and the highest cabinet positions?

Rockefeller cornered the oil markets with the help of the Rothschild's Int'l banking combine becoming Rothschild's man in America along with Morgan, and who earlier supported Marx/Engels, and later thru I. G. Farben, helped the Nazi war machine to balance Stalin. The American branch was American I. G..

These are the guys (CFR) that put Senator Aldrich, Paul Warburg, and others, on a secret train trip to Jekyll Island where Warburg wrote the new Federal Reserve law. It was quickly passed.

Then they confiscated the precious metals the Founders insisted was necessary colateral to protect our currency's value. Problem is, all these unconstitutional things that were done, were done by both parties, and are still seemingly tolerated being that so many Republicans are CFR & TriLateral members. The members list includes all the biggest politicians in recent history, Kerry & W, RWR and most of his cab too, and the fantastically wealthy and powerful.

Supposedly the CFR/TLC/Bilderburger/Rothschild Elites have played left against right for over a century, supporting both sides of every war, creating economic swings they can profit from. Hence their need for an American Central Bank with which to manipulate the American economy.

Supposedly the Rothschilds sit on the largest concentration of bullion in the world and have a contolling interest in every major bank in the world, which is said to be achievable with as little as 1%.

This IS the New World Order. This incestuousness between politics and finance is noted by such luminaries as Murray Rothbard. And since the Rothschilds control every major bank, and the Fed being their created tool, they will in effect rule the World.

I am curious if this bothers anyone else???

I have to admit that I wan't able to get through your entire post as I am bored by middle-aged now right-wing regret & guilt for the folly of youth. I hear it from some of my own personal acquaintances and I find it only a sign that back in the '60s and '70s they were shallow, too.

That said, can you look back and find anything of value which cames from the '60s and '70s? Is there anything of substance there for you at all, besides cheap leering sex?

Posted by Raw Data at February 20, 2006 8:32 AM

Well said.

I especially loathe the unwillingness of these bongwater-baptised useful idiots to try and live in a dictatorial People's Republic and see how it fits their notions of a just society.

Final thought. Did it ever strike you as ironic, disrespecful (or a pathetic attempt to sound like real men) that you and your former fellow travelers coopted a phrase used by your fathers in the service of their country during the war, "Smoke 'em if ya got 'em!"?

Second final thought. How are you coping with living in the belly of the multi-culti beast?

Jesus, has anything become more predictable than the rantings of lefty '60s revolutionaries turned rightwingers? Move over Hitch and Horowitz.

Here's the deal. I am of your same vintage and was active in New Left politics on my campus too, but I never went to the extreme you are describing of majoring in marijuana and canonizing South American revolutionaries.

It's often been observed about Christopher Hitchens that his original journey to the far left set him up for a journey to the far right. Such personalities find the middle road impossible and while their politics may change when they move right, their devotion to the extreme remains intact (and their self-perspective as distorted as the Alice of Grace Slick's song). Thus Nancy Pelosi, from the far shore of Rightwingia, seems far left. But to those of us whose politics have been less bipolar, Nancy looks like a moderate with an edge.

It's also tedious to launch these predictable attacks and then excuse yourself from official labeling as a Republican. Because, you know, you're not. A man without a party. That is also consistent with the '60s persona. Lyndon or Dick, they both were' the man.

I have to say, too, that your carping about drug culture, esssentially a culture of the sensory, feels especially juvenile given your longtime position with a titty magazine. I suspect you have held on quite well to the hippie sexual ethic now embarassingly rechristened "libertarian" by many. Maybe I'm wrong.

Posted by cbb at February 22, 2006 8:45 AM

Has anything become more predictable than the ire of liberals offended by the opinions of former leftists?

As for Hitchens being a far-right extremist, how do justify that assertion? Seems to me that you can do so only by redefining "far right" as "opposed to tyranny and appeasement and lies." Same goes for Horowitz. But your language is no surprise, given how eager so many liberals are to call those they disagree with 'fascist' or 'racist' or 'corporate tool'.

Posted by pst314 at February 22, 2006 10:46 AM

Whoosh, pst. I think you know what sound I'm describing.

Posted by cbb at February 22, 2006 1:55 PM

Excellent piece. I *particularly* liked the paragraph/observation beginning with: "Over the nearly four decades since 1968,..."

As far as marijuana goes, it has a "half-life" of about 6 years (Acid: 18 months, Coke: 2 years, Heroin: 9 months) -- most people use it regularly for about that length of time, then usage rapidly tapers off and turns to a rarity rather than the casual norm... (or, in the case of something like heroine or coke, it breaks you and you either die or turn homeless).

Of drugs, only nicotine and alcohol violate this general rule of usage and demonstrate little-to-no "half-life".

I forget where I read the above, it was the results of a fairly extensive study on addictive behavior patterns some years back, ca. 1991 +/- 5 years, more likely earlier than later

Great essay, Gerard. We must disseminate it widely. As someone who was on the other side of the demo lines in London I always guessed that there would be good people among you, once the hallucinogens had subsided - those of you that made it, that is. One small pernickety point though. Do you mean Provence when you write 'holiday in Provance'? Or perhaps there is a township called Provance in the US, if so then I stand corrected. We have Kermit over here just now on a State visit with his latest wife - you know how sensitive they are.

Thank you for these essays from your archives. You wrote, "They are legion in the comfortable realms of academia, entertainment world, and the media." I would add, "and the churches." For example, the chanceries of most Roman Catholic dioceses are full of these people. Then again, maybe their brand of religion is "the entertainment world", and you had it covered from the start. Wishing you all the best!

Gerard, you are in good company. Neoneocon, David Mamet, Shrinkwrapped, Gagdad Bob, and many others have traveled the same path.

I have a dream. That in the not too distant future even more misguided lefties will wake up and begin to see the world as it is....imperfect, imperfectible, and that, in fact, we wouldn't want it any other way. That more people will take pleasure in seeking a relationship with our Creator, sensing the simple joy that such a relationship can bring. That, most of all, a person is judged not by the color of their skin, the size of their bank account, or the "things" they own, but, instead, by the content of their character. (With apologies to MLK.)

Remember, you are exceptional......just like everyone else.

The good news is that the precious counter-insurgency and population control methods and strategies learned in Iraq can also be applied here in the United States to fragment and destroy the power of the Democrat party.

The bad news is that most of the knowledge is with the military, which is outlawed from influencing or directing politics.

Speaking of radical...Would your “church,” if you fellowship with one, put on it’s bulletin board hateful articles from the anti-semitic, terrorist group Hamas? Barack Obama’s CURRENT church, Trinity United Church of Christ, did just that.

We just found out in the last 48 hours that Wright, while giving a eulogy in 2007, said that “(Jesus’) enemies had their opinion about Him… The Italians for the most part looked down their garlic noses at the Galileans.”

Now comes a report by NBC News that while Wright was in charge at Obama’s CURRENT church, reprinted anti-Israel writings, including one column by none other than Hamas leader, Mousa Abu Marzook, appeared on the bulletin board there.

The column by the Hamas leader, Mousa Abu Marzook, asked: “Why should any Palestinian recognise the monstrous crimes carried out by Israel’s founders and continued by its deformed modern apartheid state?”

The question becomes one of judgment, character, integrity, honesty and intelligence.

If I were to believe Obama’s defense that he didn’t, and still doesn’t, know what was, and still is, going on at his church for 20 years, then, in my opinion, he must not be very observant nor intelligent, and does not possess sensible judgement. Therefore he cannot be qualified to be the POTUS, in my opinion. If I do NOT believe Obama, then his integrity, character and honesty is woefully insufficient to be the POTUS, in my opinion.

Obama went to Harvard Law School (they don’t let just anybody in), where he became the first African-American president of the prestigious Harvard Law Review. He graduated magna cum laude in 1991. Now do you think he is NOT aware of what his church and ex-pastor are all about? Be AFRAID! Be VERY AFRAID!

Barack Obama’s political FRAUD against the American People continues…

Obviously I've been scrolling through some past articles and I came across this one. I wanted to write some things now for posterity.

It appears that the Democrat Party has truly taken the next step beyond liberal, progressive, and socialist. The fact that they are on the verge of having an outright communist as their candidate is fairly noteworthy. This has been accomplished with much help from the media, academic indoctrination, and the refusal of the center to accept it. The media have done their best to hide his past and encouraged hatred of capitalism instead of hatred of criminal capitalists. Academia refuses to mention to students the negative results of communism. Equal time is no longer allowed there.

On a side note: did you know that the anarchist (I think we know what that term actually means) Noam Chomsky was allowed to speak to cadets at The United States Military Academy? Our cadets should have never been contaminated by his crap. Small cuts. They're taking us down with small cuts. Generation by generation. But they never look at their own rotten and deadly past.

The reason that the communists will eventually win is that even if Obama loses, the country cannot survive if nearly half the voters don't mind voting for a communist. They want change! They'll be getting it, eventually.

Someday posts like this one will be permanently deleted as is routinely done throughout the rest of the communist world. The gulags, re-education camps, and killing fields are about to be expanded to North America. All comments such as this one will be examined and the commenter dealt with by some KGB sort. The communists have a new army of about 15-20 million illegal immigrants which I predict will do most of their killing for them. Also, we have all those "progressive" students in our high schools and colleges. Add to that the Soros, Kennedy and Gates types with their money as well as CBS, MSNBC, the Tribune papers, and the internet with which to coordinate and communicate.I predict the plans are in their final stages. The only question is: How much blood will be shed?

McCarthy was apparently right.

JFK would not be too happy as he was a proud American. I doubt even FDR would be happy about it.

The people who survive will be poorer.

Party leaders will always be well taken care of.

How many times does humanity need to make the same mistakes before they learn?

The cancers of the Nazi's, the KKK, and others have always been with us. The melanoma of communism is killing us.

***Most importantly: Hopefully I'm wrong. I hope so.***

Posted by JD at May 14, 2008 9:18 AM

I don't think this will come to pass if Obama bin Biden wins (the reality of such a victory will be bad enough: 1970's again, anyone?), but, if Obama turns out to be our Hugo Chavez or Salvador Allende, how will we, as a people, respond? And keep in mind, that relatively speaking, Obama doesn't have to be as egregious a menace as those two I mentioned to be a threat to what we are or wish to be.

We have no Pinochets -- for which I am grateful -- and no history of prior coups like South America, grateful again. But the down side to that is that if it did turn out that the "Blessed One" started twisting America into the shape which his more alarming speech fragments hint strongly at, what would freedom-loving Americans be willing (and able) to do?

And who are these Americans anyway? How many of us still think this way? Keep in mind that during the American revolution, the populace could be divided into roughly three equal parts: the rebels, the loyalists, and the fence-sitters. When enough of the loyalists starting acting more lkie fence-sitters, the British efforts were doomed. Keep in mind also that the British fate wasn't really sealed until the infusion of French troops and navy.

If this was the case back then, what is the case now? Different times, different sensibilities, and in many ways, a different kind of people.

This is one of my favorite GVDL essays; it reminds me that we are seeing the showdown between the newleft generation of '68 and everyone else; I really belive this election will smash the left if Obama loses...

if Obama wins, well, the left will drink deep of that poison cup - to borrow and image from Wretchard - that they have been denied since '68.

Most of it was all bullshit, but there were definitely some dangerous people then. actually, the conquest of the Republican Party by corporate-socialist, Zionist-imperialist neo-conz is precisely equivalent to the "Left" takeover of the Democrat Party. Out-of-control, ever-expanding Government is the net outcome, via both domestic socialist encroachment and the Orwellian "War on Terror" (read: wars to keep Israel on the map and wars to keep the World on the debtbuck). Have a nice day.

Posted by Wise Cave Owl at September 4, 2014 3:47 PM

You demonstrate again here, Gerard, why the truth is so out of fashion -- it makes the fakers and liars cringe.

Wise Cave Owl, given the shambles that the shiftless Republican Party is in, for our edification and your deification, please name the corporate-socialist, Zionist-imperialist neo-conz who are in charge of the Party? Do you mean Eric Cantor who was recently shit-canned by his constituents?
Among these controllers do you mean the Jews -- Nixon, Reagan, Bush 1 & 2, and their Jewish VP's, Jewish Secretaries of State and Defense, all mesmerized by Jewish Svengalis? Kissinger is of the Jewish faith. Was his opening to China a disloyalty, a mistake by ingratiating himself to the Jews Chou En Lai and Mao Tse Tung? Did he force hot Rumanian pastrami-on-rye sandwiches on the billion+ Chinese WITHOUT mustard?
I did not know that Karl Rove was of the Jewish faith; when did he convert?
Yes, there were some important advisers who were Jewish. There were also some advisers who wore A-shirts and not T-shirts. Were they disloyal in advising support of Israel and opposing its tyrannical blood-lusting enemies?
There's no slide toward socialism if there is no taxation to grease the slide. Have you contributed toward socialism by paying your taxes?
I commend to your attention Philippians 4:8
I commend you for your honesty; we are all entitled to our erroneous opinions for they offer us a burden to take up -- to seek the truth, not simply to marinate in our honest errors.

@Howard Nelson. Evidently you were not paying attention when - not 98, not 99 - but 100 out of 100 "American" Senators recently stood up on their hind legs, barked in unison, and sent Israel another $billion in weapons and ammo to continue the Gaza Massacre...and this w/o even being asked. Why? Because they are OWNED: via Wall St. Zionist money (Blomberg, Blankfein, Dimon, etc.), Las Vegas Zionist money (Adelson, Wynn, etc.), Hollywood Zionist money (Spielberg, Geffen, etc.), and random Zionist money (Unz, Koch Brothers, etc.). As for apparatchiks like Rove, they're ZOG poperty too: Rove works for Murdoch, whose debt is owned by...Rothschild. As Limbaugh said in one of his rare, lucid moments: "just follow the money trails". Which of course applies to Limbaugh and all the other (Hannity, Hedgcock, Cunnigham, Coulter) neo-con'd Republican talking heads. The only one who refused to submit to Zion - Pat Buchanan - has been, as you're aware, exiled from the MSM ever since.
