They came through here way back when, and wanted to visit an local antique store after the show. In order to get the owner to open it up after hours, they sang in the dark outside his home.
Saw the BB in concert by accident. Went to a SD Padres game back in ‘84 when stationed at Camp Pendleton. During the seventh inning stretch the stadium announcer said that after the game there was going to be a BB concert. Me and my buddie had no freakin’ idea, we just wanted to watch some baseball.
Let’s see...84 deg’s on a typical beautiful SoCal day, some baseball and THEN a Beach Boys concert.
“Surfin’ USA…” Great day, one of the best.
The smiling little girl at 16:29 breaks my heart. I like to think that I might have been able to ask her out to a movie, given a chance when I was a teen.
Many thanks for posting this, sir; although the clip does exceed any recommended daily dose of Mike Love.
Dear God, I miss them and the time they lived. They are me.
Dear God, I hate, absolutely hate, modern America. I yearn to see its destruction. Absolute, total destruction. 100 million, 200 million dead. Whatever it takes. Cleanse the earth of this monstrosity, this perversity.
I am a Chinese patriot. A Muslim patriot. Whoever can do the cleansing.
"It is impossible to speak in such a way that you cannot be misunderstood."
Can't say that about bob.
bob, apparently, yearns for death.
On the other hand, I think, the Beach Boys and their era, embrace life.
AM Radio. Top 40. Beachboys versus Beatles every week. I loved both. The neighborhood where I grew up in Sacramento was working class. Very integrated. Now it's the hood. Back then, I remember a kid riding down the street on his banana-seated stingray bicycle yelling "BEACHBOYS AT THE HOLIDAY INN!" when they played the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium. That's how it was. We lived small back then. They stayed at the very modest motel down the street from me. I recall many years later reading the book Heroes & Villains the True Story of the BB, about when they got their first #1 tune, they celebrated with milkshakes at some soda shop. Having gone down the rabbit hole, along with them and many of my generation, the innocence of that anecdote touched me.
What keeps going through my head, listening to this, is how beautiful you used to be, and Good Christ what you have lost on the road to here and now.
my gosh, what a different world that was
"bob, apparently, yearns for death."
Ergo, Bob is a Republican.
Do Ya remember when there was a time & place for everything, "Thank the Good Lord Thy God"... Some of us will never forget what that's about
If given a chance..We will bring it back around.
I Can't Hardly Wait, We're just older & wiser & like good good fun... Hey ya'll.
