If you slap a bunch of years on her. Not even a retouch job can change someone that much.Posted by Vermont Woodchuck at May 12, 2010 12:50 PM
She's a creationist? Really?Posted by Don Rodrigo at May 12, 2010 1:45 PM
He's messing with your head, Don. Always with the head.Posted by Jewel at May 12, 2010 1:50 PM
Every time I think you're a grounded, normal individual something like this spills out of your tangential-warren of a mind Mr. V
Well donePosted by OhioDude at May 12, 2010 1:52 PM
That is a painful photoshop.Posted by Cameron at May 12, 2010 2:18 PM

More like Neil Young. Except for the smile, of course.Posted by dr kill at May 12, 2010 4:50 PM
Whoa. Not a secret anymore!
Now would you investigate Janis Joplin and Joe Cocker, because I have long thought the two were actually one and the same. (And the fact that both performed at Woodstock cuts no ice with me. Did you ever see a photo of them on stage at the same time?)Posted by Deborah at May 12, 2010 5:11 PM
That is so faux! You can tell someone diddled with her nose! C'mon.Posted by Western Chauvinist at May 12, 2010 5:35 PM
Just what goes on inside your head, Gerard?
...On second thought, don't answer that question.Posted by Eric at May 12, 2010 6:31 PM
Uncanny. They both seem so lifelike, too. . .Posted by Joan of Argghh! at May 12, 2010 6:47 PM
Sheesh, Gerard, what has Emma done to you?!Posted by Fausta at May 13, 2010 4:55 AM
Man, that is so freaky. Stop it.Posted by Eric Blair at May 13, 2010 5:16 AM
I'll bet you a Coke. None of that diet crap, either.Posted by Cameron Wood at May 13, 2010 5:49 AM
Thanks Gerard. You've just spoiled my entirely inappropriate crush on Ms.Watson.Posted by physics geek at May 13, 2010 7:12 AM
Um...I think I have seen this one before, and it was slightly shopped to make Ms. watson look more like Mr. Dawkins.Posted by Mikey NTH at May 13, 2010 7:44 AM
Might we see some elderly climate scientists making a similar "transition" for the sake of anonymity?Posted by sherlock at May 13, 2010 9:03 AM
I read somewhere that she is an avid fly caster and spends quite a bit of time afield....Posted by Dave J at May 14, 2010 10:56 AM
Ogling the latest paparazzi photos of Miss Watson used to make me feel a little dirty. Now I won't be able to look at her without feeling just plain weirded out. Thanks.Posted by Travis McGee at May 17, 2010 5:11 AM
Considering that they found a man from Cheddar who was a direct descendant of Cheddar Man, are you really astonished that someone from the UK would have a family likeness with someone else from the UK?
Sheesh, people. If you go back far enough, we're all related.Posted by Maureen at May 17, 2010 5:24 AM
Will he change his name to Jeanne?

Thought it was a pretty funny joke till I saw the comment where Vanderleun claims it was "Not Shopped."
Get real. It's so pathetic it belongs here!
Not him. His secret Love Child!!!!
If I were Mr. Watson, I'd want to have a long talk with Emma's mom.
Yeah. It's shopped. The eyes, nose, and mouth have been cropped from the Dawkins photo and placed into the Watson photo. Then the wrinkles were smoothed. You can even see a hint of facial hair on the upper lip.Posted by PJ at May 17, 2010 7:50 AM
Shopped. Do the cross-eye comparison.
Emma W's overall face has been rotated slightly clockwise relative to Dawkins, but otherwise shows too exact a match in lighting and proportion for mere physical resemblance. The parts that were "diddled" (to use Western Chauvinists's term): the septum of the nose, the (screen) left edge of the mouth, and the (screen) right eye, as well as some added noise and color grading.Posted by Seerak at May 17, 2010 8:54 AM
I dunno, that would mean this one is shopped too:
ok, its flipped and lower quality, but not sure you can call shenanigans
Now that you can see her original pic, you can easily tell that it's DEFINITELY shopped. Too bad, because the resemblance is striking, even without the obvious "diddles".Posted by Unfavorable odds at May 17, 2010 12:06 PM
This was mentioned on an Emma Watson message board in 2008: http://emmawatson.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4040&st=0
I agree that based on those two pictures he does look like he could be her grandfather. It's kind of funny because he has never read the Harry Potter books because they talk of wizardy: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/3255972/Harry-Potter-fails-to-cast-spell-over-Professor-Richard-Dawkins.html
Oddly, he enjoys Pullman's books, but that's probably just because the author is an atheist.Posted by Serket at May 17, 2010 9:13 PM
