Oh, I needed that. Thank you.

"Baby Sinclair" is real cute.

Not the mama.

You are their past, they are your future.

(Looks like I'll be an "Uncle Argyle", too, Gerard. Not a bad thing, I may add, as children need their 'Uncles', as did I, when I was young.)

When our eldest son was about 6, we learned he needed glasses for significant near-sightedness. I took him to pick them up. When he put them on and then walked outside the building, he stopped dead in his tracks with mouth wide open.

He had never seen that leaves on trees were individual before. Had never seen what it was in the trees that made that chirping sound.

All the way home he gazed in rapt wonder out the car window, looking at things as far away as he could, describing things he had never seen before.

I'll never forget it.

Mr. Sensing, I had the same experience when I was about 8 years old. I was considered a "discipline problem" in second grade...I sat in the center of the classroom, and couldn't see anything written on the blackboards. Then sight testing started in our school, and the school nurse was shocked I couldn't see even the largest "E" at the top of the chart, unless I was three feet from it.

I remember saying, from the back seat of the car after leaving the optometrist's with my new glasses, "MAMA! I can see LEAVES!" I also remember Mama crying in the front seat.
