A prayer after Ps. 90:12-14

Oh Lord, teach us to number our days wisely.
They are few and fleeting, turn to us and have mercy on your servants!
Shower us every morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

"Why is it so easy to forget?"

I'll take a shot at it.

"...though you grieve and though you wonder, though the world is ugly, it is beautiful."

I think the ugly grief makes us wonder if it really is beautiful, so we forget. The ugly is usually the loudest in our experience and shouts down the beauty. To trust in the Beauty against the ugly, that is also a gift and we who've been given that gift too often take it for granted, forgetting to nourish and protect it, for ourselves and for others.

Thanks for the reminder!

The book itself, by Ann Voskamp is pure poetry, pure delight. It's hard to feel sorry for ones situation when you are constantly aware of the things around you every moment to be thankful for. Read this book.
