The Dull "Cutting Edge" of Lady Gaga

Carried in inside an egg, right? Get out of the egg and perform, right? Wow, what a new thought, what a brand new bit of schtick! What a pure original that Gaga is! "One hears such sounds, and what can one say but... 'Salieri.' " (Played for laughs and with actual talent, too.)

That's pretty funny.

Where else but in America could a two-bit guinea whore become spectacularly succesfull?

Today's popular culture keeps handing the nation perverse, back-handed compliments like these.

I imagine that the early jazz artists got this sort of reaction. Beethoven certainly did. The first rock and roll artists certainly did.

A common reaction from old fogeys to anything new in the way of music. I try to avoid it, even though I am an old fogey by most standards.

Sure, 95% of today's popular music is crap. Remember Sturgeon's Law. And is Ms. Gaga actually a whore? I doubt it.
