The scale of devastation is difficult to get my head around. Not sure how as a country they will fully recover.

We see this through the prism of going without electric for one night as a catastrophe.
They get Katrina in the Philippines every year, plus terror, corruption, and giant bugs.

My dad was a destroyer man in the last great Philippine typhoon 5 in 1945. They lost seven tin cans. Men slept on the floor, when they could.
