Hurricane Sarah: Sarah Palin Floods Internet

You can, of course, forget about reaching the Internet servers for the government of Alaska for the foreseeable future. They are down, down, down. Earlier they were so hosed they were returning "server not found." As this is being posted they are so hammered they return the "Fatal Error" flag with:

"failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /web/www/gov/index.php on line 4."
You can be sure the previously undertaxed webmaster for the state of Alaska is earning his or her salary today.

If you monitor Google Hot Trends as I do you'll see something not seen since Hurricane Katrina and the Indonesian Tsunami. Over 90 of the top 100 search terms concern the Palin Nomination.

A screen shot I took of Google Trends: Aug 29, 2008 about ten minutes ago shows this. It is HERE.

Many Democrats caught flat-footed, off-base, and hungover from last nights Obamalympics are wandering about the web and the news shows mumbling -- without a whiff of irony -- "But... but... nobody knows anything about her..."

Well, with Google running at this rate, everybody is going to know about Sarah Palin by sundown in Obama country.

Poor Obama Campaign. They've yet to focus on the brute fact that they are up against a fighter pilot. A military man who knows well and employs the OODA Loop - Observe, Orient, Decide and Act. Perhaps this will bring it to their attention, if they can bear to take their eyes off their candidate.

Well said, and bravo!

You're absolutely right. Obama's playing checkers, McCain is playing kung fu chess. A bold move, but still a gamble. Much will depend upon her speech next week, plus the debate with Biden. I have a feeling McCain knows something about her that we don't know. And he's obviously studied Biden, in that he's neutralized his one weapon: bullying and hamhanded rhetoric. Won't look good against Palin.

Everyone does realize that we're going giddy over Palin the way certain people went over Obama, right?

It's not a criticism, just an observation. For one thing, the issue of experience, while important, was never the main objection to Obama from many of us. The primary objections were his ideology (WHEN we could find it) and his non-American worldview. Besides, his inexperience is coupled with a massive hubris that would not allow him to do what the Trumans of the world did when suddenly thrust into the Presidency: seek out those with the wisdom and experience he needs to govern.

Oh, and Palin has been selcted for the second slot, NOT the first, on the GOP ticket.

Just a small quibble (well, small to non-naval aviators) McCain was an attack pilot, not a fighter pilot.
