At least he didn't emulate Jimmy Carter by saying, "I'll never lie to you." Indeed, this whole administration is shaping up to be a paraphrase of Mary McCarthy's “Every word he says is a lie, including and and the.” Still they'll look to find a reason to believe.
If I listened long enough to you
I'd find a way to believe that it's all true
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believe
Someone like you makes it hard to live without
somebody else
Someone like you makes it easy to give
never think about myself

If I gave you time to change my mind
I'd find a way just to leave the past behind
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believe
If I listened long enough to you
I'd find a way to believe that it's all true
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believe
Someone like you makes it hard to live without
somebody else
Someone like you makes it easy to give
never think about myself
'Dissimulation was his masterpiece, in which he so much ecxelled that men were not ashamed of being decieved but twice by him'--Edward Hyde
'With such deceits he gained their easy hearts, to prone to credit his perfidiious arts'--John Dryden

Tell me lies
Tell me sweet little lies
(tell me lies, tell me, tell me lies)
Oh, no, no you can't disguise
(You can't disguise; no, you can't disguise)
Obama hasn't had time to lie much yet. And it isn't truth that Presidents are elected for, it's results.
These days, it's the left that feels lied to.
But give it time, it will all work out, but not as anybody expects it to.
That song is so beautiful and so true. But after reflection I must also observe that the act of voting requires from us an ability to rise above just accepting, to hear only what we want to hear and see what we want to see. In a "pure" democracy we would be required to vote vote for the person who will tell the truth and act on the truth no matter if we want to hear it or not. I'll bet a million razbucknicks that the crooked Illinois governor was pro choice, a stand that had the women just slobbering all over themselves. We always do it to ourselves. And then seek someone to blame.
