Waiting for Not-O

You can get as uptight and concerned about Newt, Mitt, Herman, Rick, Ron, Michelle, and all the others that you want. I’m taking a nap. You can follow the up-trend, the down-trend, the around-the-bend-trend, or the down and out and flushed away trend. I’m kicking back on the beach. You can follow the come back, the back down, the buck up and the suck up to your heart’s content. I’m rolling into the hammock for the duration. You can get uptight, out of sight, bent out of -- or bent into -- shape. I’m taking the seventh inning stretch for months. You can be pissed off, pissed on, or just pissed. I’m staying high and dry.

The long or the short of it all is that between now and the elections almost one year from now the frantic antics and the doings and undoings of whomever the Republicans nominate for president can be spun until you come all undone.... and it won’t make one thin dime’s worth of difference to me. You know right now if you’ve got a smidgen of a scintilla of the sense God gave a goober that you will vote for that candidate and against Barack Obama come hell or high water. And if you know that, knowing who is really just a detail. Vlad the Impaler? Sounds like he's got just the accessory those Occupiers need.

Me? I know I am voting for NotO. It came over me today like a thunderclap. And now that I know it I also know that I can relax about this whole circus that’s currently being spun around the “nominating” “process.” Why? Because now that I know I’m voting for the candidate no matter who -- or even what -- it is, I don’t care who -- or what -- it is. As long as it can be categorized as “Not Obama,” I’m for it. That’s a very relaxing thought. All I need to do now is just kick back and wait for election day. All this other stuff is simply postmortem effects and the noise made by beating cold dead horses on dull old anvils. Wake me when it’s time to vote. Until then just refill my pina colada from time to time. Thanks.

Thanks for the Rx. We needed that.

But what if the Demoncrats panic and decide to run a candidate other than Obama? How will you decide then? More to the point, just how much will you worry now about that possible scenario?

(I know. Might just as well worry about being invaded by space aliens.)

More and more I find myself worrying less and less.

Posted by: vanderleun at November 20, 2011 4:26 PM

You think you won't have anything to worry about until election day. I am willing to bet what little I have that the demonatrix ruling class and their willing tools have plenty of wreckage to wreak on us. Don't get too comfy with your piña colada. Keep your gun handy. You might need it.

Did I say Mr. Mossberg was not relaxing with me in the hammock? I did not.

Now repeat the Intapundit's oath with me: "I will vote for a syphilitic camel, if it will get Hussein out of the White House."

Exactly the right attitude to take. The current breathless who's-up-who's-down business is nothing more than "The Guiding Light" or "As the World Turns" for political junkies. As my Dad used to say to my Mom, "Would you like me to tell you what happens now, or are you going to watch and see for yourself that nothing happens?"

As a kid, I never understood that. I'm beginning to get a sense of it, now.

Damn, Gerard, you are sounding like a Calvinist.

Last week I stood proud on the hilltop proclaiming I'd not vote for a lesser evil.

But Bone stupid I am not. I will vote, if only to vote against Obama.

I know I will be more sad than I ever have been before, standing there at the little blue voting table, looking down at my choices.

An excellent stance. Of course the media will not care for it. They mint a lot of coin off the "race." That's why there's so much spin.

I will be following it, but only from afar until the Not Obama candidate is named. Then I will send money, volunteer for phone work, and any other activity to insure that Not Obama wins.

I am mildly political: When I was sixteen (in 1968), I figured out that I was a conservative. When I was older, during the last days of Nixon, I realized (with no small shock) that I was a Republican. While my affections for the Republican Party have waxed and waned through the decades, I am nevertheless, NOT one of them. And by God, I will NEVER vote for one of them. And we all know who them are: lying, whining, grasping pukes. All of them.

Yes. I am totally on board. Whoever the nominee is, he/she will be better than Obama.

Calvinist? Moi? Guilty as charged.

I'm with you Gerard. I may say a small prayer that it isn't Huntsman or Ron Paul, but it will still be OMG-ABO

Like anyone else in my age group, I seem to have lots of friends who are old hippies and they are all big Paul supporters, even those who cleaned up and wear 3 pc suits to work each day.:)Not sure what that is all about.

They want Hillary!

Well then: Cthulhu 2012!

The die is cast, and the cards are marked. ABO will be my choice, though once again I'll be holding my nose, I fear.

I thought this was so perfectly said that I used it in my pre-debate post this morning:

"Because now that I know I’m voting for the candidate no matter who -- or even what -- it is, I don’t care who -- or what -- it is."

As for the 'what' part, I have a pet rock named 'Chip' that I hereby nominate for the job.

I've certainly made my similar point some weeks back, and Gerard was gracious enough to post it in the honored left-hand column. Thanks again, my friend.
