    He does amazing things with that tiny, very basic drum kit. Compare to Keith Moon or John Bonham, it’s night and day.

    I did not fully appreciate the excellence and creativity of this band until last year when I stumbled across their full catalog on Spotify and spent several weeks just obsessing over it. They are *so* much more than just surf music or “Walk Don’t Run”, “Tequila” and “Wipeout”, great as those are. I wrote it up (including several videos) here:

    Bought my first drum kit in ’69 with $90 I saved cutting lawns & caddying. Being able to play “Wipeout” was the standard you were judged by. My Dad introduced me to Buddy Rich and I
    soon forgot about destroying my snare playing the Ventures hit. Then I found Mitch Mitchell, Ginger Baker….. Good times.
