Tariff = tax, and commercial taxes are always passed onto the consumers.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, where the big timber grows, I’d say the tariff on Canadian (subsidized) lumber has been long, long overdue. Now, we can compete on a level playing field, and American plywood will probably fill the gap. Also, lumber and timber exports will look better.
I liked it when Bush (W.) came into office and the dam reclamation interest died out. I am loving it that we now have a president who wants to boost timber, ranching, mining and farming. I’d wager that most economic forecasts totally spike the numbers on these great western resources. Watch out for some big economic growth, and get out of the fucking way.
BTW, I guess Steve Bannon has had his head up where the sun don’t shine for long enough, that he forgot to read all of the articles on what happens to people who oppo Trump. They meet strange and ignominious circumstances, but quit different in character than the kind oppo-Clintonites meet. I see that this morning, a bunch of data met a fiery end at the Clinton compound. Tsk. tsk…
