Rod Serling: I want you to imagine a future, a not too distant future, where actors and musicians work on behalf of multi-national mega-corporations who control all the governments of the world and work in tandem with unelected global technocrats. Imagine Elvis Presley telling those of his adoring fans who do not get themselves injected with an experimental toxin, for a virus that is no more deadly to them than the flu, that they are selfish killing machines putting all of mankind in danger by believing their bodies didn’t belong to these governments, corporations or the least intelligent and most neurotic of society. Imagine if you will these famous figures working on behalf of all-powerful institutions to suppress freedom, bodily autonomy, and civil liberties while believing themselves to be stewards of righteousness and goodwill. In such a future, you will have entered the… Twilight Zone New Normal. — – The Good Citizen

I made twelve years old in 1965 and television provided a lot of this back then.
It was prescient.
Eric Burden said the world is a ghetto, I say the world is a silly cartoon, with bloody fangs.
Blood fangs & watch out for the barbed tail.
History repeating itself.
I see those bad ass republicans are talking Inpeachment, of Plugs, when their back in control! Yea right
Anymore a Republican is really a democrat who talks out the right side of his or her mouths, not the left.
All fucking losers.

As I was watching that Rod Serling episode it reminded me of my baby grandson – a happy child aged only 16 months, couldn’t be brighter or more wonderful and yet he seems to possess an inborn sense of caution that is evident all the time- he’s looking out for himself and looking out to anyone or any thing that he needs to defend himself against – us that the human condition? Cautious ?
RS had a fresh memory of the Axis powers and their incredible crimes. And, he was living in the era of the new Cold War. But, as an 8 year old kid, I had none of that. I had TV, a movie house down the street, a grade school a little further down the same street, and my only cares in the world were family and neighbors. I suggest that my generation listens to Twilight Zone as outsiders in the story. Will we get the potential future he warned us of?
Not just fresh but, how shall I say it, vivid: “Serling’s time in Leyte shaped his writing and political views for the rest of his life. He saw death every day while in the Philippines, at the hands of his enemies and his allies, and through freak accidents such as that which killed another Jewish private, Melvin Levy. Levy was delivering a comic monologue for the platoon as they rested under a palm tree when a food crate was dropped from a plane above, decapitating him. “
Right! Now I recall that RS was in the infantry (I think).
I’m not qualified to critique, but I consider his writing to be of high standard.
Airborne.
Almost missed the height requirement, check my math on that one.
I will forgive him that.

Ten Years After, “I’d Love to Change the World”
Raging on behalf of the machine. Reminds me of the cartoon from a page compilation earlier that shows the neofeudal managerial class living large in mansions and pools while the little people live in favelas and shanties right next door.
Nothing is as it seems in Clown World.
