Strange Daze Sources: Happy Acres

Having overstepped the bounds of “social” media I don’t have a Twitter account (A short long story). I do follow a number of sensible and useful voices both famous and obscure. One of the most useful and insightful is “Happy Acres.” Acres is a gentleman who lives in the Sierra foothills of Northern California (probably around Placerville); is of a certain age (His kids have left home ); has a nose for news that reveals the evil of the Woke and the autofellation compulsion of a society that worships Woke ( California first among equals.) He once maintained an admirable Tumblr account, but that Woke company nuked him (one failed ownership ago. Maybe he could get it back if it survived.). He has few followers and that doesn’t seem to slow him down. But he could use a few more. If you want to follow him, tell him Groucho sent you. 734

He’s at HappyAcres (@HappyHectares) / Twitter

Here’s a bit of a Whitman’s Sampler from the last few days:

I follow Happy Acres on Twitter simply because you recommended it. That was good enough for me and I have not been disappointed.

Where and what the fuck is this “community” constantly referenced?

    • Jack February 3, 2022, 1:58 PM

Well, I suppose you’re probably referring to Twitter or something similar. My take on it is that it is a white word appropriated by the negro to describe his world. He views himself as part of’ ‘the community’. He believes that people in ‘the community’ should come together…a vague buzz term that means white people should get off of their well fed behinds and do something for a negro today.

Ask him though, what he has done individually or collectively for ‘the community’ or ‘his community’ or any other community and he will stare at you with the blank, opened mouth, catatonic expression of Mungo and when he snaps out of that he’ll look at you and simply say: sheeeit. And everyone knows what that means.

Happy Acres was a regular stop for me until tumblr kicked him off. I was ecstatic when I rediscovered him on Twitter and visited just about every day, until just recently when Twitter effectively blocked me from reading him with a login/signup pop up page that I can’t get rid of. If you’re on Twitter I highly recommend his feed.

I concur. I wasn’t aware that he was a tumblr refuge, but I’ve been following him on Twitter for quite some time now. He’s the king of pithy observation.

I’m actually surprised he hasn’t ticked off Twitter enough to be silenced. And given his penchant for disrespect of tyrannical authority – I’m surprised he hasn’t tried harder.

His; “I’m losing interesting the contemporary world…”; I’ve noticed most of my reading these days is pre last mid century books. Much of my, after 3 beer contemplation, concerns the medieval period and earlier.

Having said that my contemporary world is quite satisfactory, but it only covers a few square miles, what I see, touch and feel. Beyond that there be dragons and and poorly written fantasy.

    • Mike Austin February 3, 2022, 11:31 AM

I have yet to lose interest in the contemporary world—but then, I am only 68. I still read widely for hours every day. Being retired allows me this luxury. My preference is for History, but all is fair game. In the past 6 months I have read 28 books—History, Apologetics, Biography and Crime. I have the same desire to know everything that I had 60 years ago. Age has of course pointed out the impossibility of this, but I still labor away at it.

Oddly—or perhaps not so oddly—the only fantasy I have ever read is Robert E. Howard’s “Conan.”

HA has been bookmarked for many months now. Good stuff in a not good world. If I ever go full commie (nevuh go full commie), and get a tweeter account, I’ll follow.

  • jwm February 3, 2022, 11:47 AM

Note on the twitter pop-up screen. Go into private window (Firefox) or equivalent. Then it works fine. I don’t want a twitter account, but HA is worth a couple extra clicks.

I don’t know nothing about no private fire foxes, but if you just click on the “Sign up” line it will take you to another page with a “Create your account” box. X off of it at the top of the box and there you go, problem solved.

      And Bob’s your uncle!

  • Aggie February 3, 2022, 12:14 PM

Note on the pop-up Twitter screens demanding you submit: Click on ‘open account’. When it opens, click the ‘x’ to close it. Continue reading Twitter thread…..Life goes on.

    @CulturalHusbandry is also very good.

Some years back there was quite a dust-up when a teenage girl fought for the right to compete against boys in high school wrestling. At the time, all the progtards thought it was just grand, that she should be allowed to do so. I recall many of her would-be opponents forfeited the match to her, instead of wrestling her. She may have gone “undefeated”, for all I know.
Now, it’s different, in that, women have found themselves competing against physically stronger men -under the guise of them being transsexuals – and many believe it to be extremely unfair.
As for myself, I simply don’t care anymore. I screen as much of this ongoing shit-show out of my life as possible. Time is the most precious commodity any of us have – we can’t buy a single second more. Therefore, since it’s the Left eating the Left, I say have at it.

    • Terry February 3, 2022, 6:51 PM

“Time is the most precious commodity any of us have – we can’t buy a single second more.”

Exactly correct. I cannot fathom wasting time. Especially my time. I have understood this reality for decades. When I attempt to explain this simple fact to people they usually look at me as if I stated something insane.

      • Mike Austin February 3, 2022, 9:47 PM

To the young, time is infinite. Indeed, it scarcely exists. It has no real meaning for them. To the old, time runs out faster than they can count the days. They see it in their mirrors as it moves across their bodies. They remember things they once could do that now is far beyond their capabilities. They realize that whatever plans they still have in this life, that they had better get moving with them.

I don’t know about “following,” but I read him every day.

What’s the problem about accessing his page?

Went to the link, said my account is suspended.
      I’ve never had an account.
      twitter is full of shit

When I found him several years ago he was just leaving the blog fallow several months for personal reasons. I read his entire archive instead. Nothing he writes or references gets old. He is proof that excellence is a state of mind.

My media attention is a bit like water – it flows where the weaknesses allow. Except facebuhk. Unfortunately, it became my marketplace before it went utterly and irredeemably to hell. Anyway, I keep a Twitter account only to follow real-time news events, and to click links like Happy Acres (who I see often). I am following news on CovidCamps and QuarantineCamps, and lately the tip of the spear: TruckConvoy.

I feel like a slacker, though. I’ve never been suspended from Twitter, and even Ghostsniper got suspended and he don’t even have an account! Color me Gray. I never tweet politics. I never FB politics (my algorithm there is tuned %110 to art, artists, school chums, and family).

Tumblr: I read your blog there, Gerard, and enjoy it immensely. Mine went to almost no updates because Pinterest carries more water for me than a platoon of Sherpas. I had early traction there but when it lagged I stopped.

Someday, deFaceBuhk will go away, and I will be in a word-of-mouth market. So be it.

Fuhk. No typos today. OK, next time. Oh! Gwyneth Paltrows pussy candle: it begs the question of what does the bottom side smell like? (I was infantry – you cannot reform me)

Oh! I have a new guerrilla art idea and would like some technical help. Printing, and adhesive.
