I am still dumbfounded that Democrats openly support socialism/communism and hardly any Democrats stand up to disagree.

No need to be *dumbfounded* concerning democrats. They. Are. Dumb. All of them are actually, stupid. This includes the imbeciles who vote for them, including the dead voters. This means around 50% of the voters in the US are stupid. Incurably stupid.
I’ve talked directly to a guy like this. His story is even better. He was interred in a Nazi prison camp in Sweden (I know Sweden was “neutral,” but he was arrested as a kid for underground sympathies), and they would make up songs about how someday the Americans would come and rescue them. On their day of release, they stood around trying to sing their national anthem, but weakness prevented it.
The American idea of personal freedom is a bell ringing throughout the world. The dems cannot defeat this idea.

I’m with you, Casey. Back in the early ’70s I worked for a guy in Chicago, a guitar-maker, who with his wife had escaped Communist Serbia by running across the border, at night, dodging spotlights and guards with guns. When I met him 13 years later he owned his third successively-larger building and was making plans to retire to someplace with more sunshine.
There were hippies around who made the mistake of promoting socialism in his presence. Once.

I think your estimation is off by about 100%.
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.
Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.
Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.
The steel mill sky is alive.
The fire breaks white and zigzag
shot on a gun-metal gloaming.
Man is a long time coming.
Man will yet win.
Brother may yet line up with brother:
This old anvil laughs at many broken hammers.
There are men who can’t be bought.
The fireborn are at home in fire.
The stars make no noise,
You can’t hinder the wind from blowing.
Time is a great teacher.
Who can live without hope?
In the darkness with a great bundle of grief
the people march.
In the night, and overhead a shovel of stars for keeps, the people
march:
“Where to? what next?”
