It seems pretty clear that the next step up from $57 is coming in with pre-approved financing from the Fed and a Net Worth statement.

Who Am I? by Carl Sandburg
My head knocks against the stars.
My feet are on the hilltops.
My finger-tips are in the valleys and shores of
universal life.
Down in the sounding foam of primal things I
reach my hands and play with pebbles of
destiny.
I have been to hell and back many times.
I know all about heaven, for I have talked with God.
I dabble in the blood and guts of the terrible.
I know the passionate seizure of beauty
And the marvelous rebellion of man at all signs
reading “Keep Off.”
My name is Truth and I am the most elusive captive
in the universe.
Duty, Beauty, Liberty, Country, Honor, Family, Faith — Plus a few simple easy to follow rules for guys

Take It Where You Find It
Men saw the stars at the edge of the sea
They thought great thoughts about liberty
Poets wrote down words that did fit
Writers wrote books
Thinkers thought about it
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
Many’s the road I have walked upon
Many’s the hour between dusk and dawn
Many’s the time
Many’s the mile
I see it all now
Through the eyes of a child
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
And close your eyes
Leave it all for a while
Leave the world
And your worries behind
You will build on whatever is real
And wake up each day
To a new waking dream
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Change, change come over
Change come over
Talkin’ about a change
Change, change
Change come over, now
Change, change, change come over
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light

Jo Jo Magoo is a brain-damaged puppet/traitor to the American Republic. His handlers are instigating the deliberate overthrow and destruction of our nation.

“Gas Prices are the Highest Ever Recorded and the Biden administration cancels an Alaska oil and gas lease sale? This has got to stop. Unleash American Energy Joe!” Pence said on Twitter.
That was said by former Vice President Mike Pence.
On Twitter.
What a weak pussy.

I doubt that Joey Plugs is bothered one little bit. And it may be that the present $57/lb price tag is partly the result of Brandon’s boss making Wagyu beef a fashionable menu item when he and Moochelle lived in the People’s House. From 2012: “Michelle Obama celebrated her 48th birthday Tuesday night with her husband and friends at a D.C. steakhouse where the menu features a $28 hamburger named ‘The Obama.’ . . . . But the Obamas didn’t have burgers–they reportedly had steak in the private dining room. . . . according to one food blog–in a town famous for leaks–the President and Mrs. Obama ordered a 10-ounce American Wagyu steak, which at $81 is the second most expensive item on the menu, just behind the 12-ounce American Wagyu for $92. . . . The restaurant’s assistant general manager told the blog Foodorama that Michelle Obama ‘dines with us quite regularly.'”

Of course, that was a whole decade ago– prices have gone up a tad since then. BLT now charges $95 for a 14-oz American Wagyu Strip, $110 for a 14-oz Australian Wagyu Strip, and . . . $135 for a 6-oz (not a typo!) Japanese A-5 Miyazaki Ribeye. You can have any steak topped with lobster fondue, “garlicky” shrimp, or blue cheese and caramelized onion.

And if you want to raise a glass to Brandon for taking Wagyu beef out of reach for all but the Davos set, you can order the “Good Ol Joe” cocktail (saffron infused bacardi anejo cuatro, grand marnier, dolin blanc vermouth, house grenadine) for a mere $16.

Meanwhile, I blame Brandon for the ongoing shortages and price increases of the kitties’ Fancy Feast. I’m not about to deny them their feline version of Wagyu beef, though, and I hope you still give Olive the best cat food that Chico has to offer.
Interesting, or son in law his family are now raising Wagyu beef, amongst the black angus. Started last year.
We Have 1/2 a Wagyu hanging at the butcher, awaiting cutting wrapping. We’re paying 2.00 a pound on the hoof. Guessing total bill will be 1200.00 butchered, aged, cut, and wrapped. Last year that was 420 pounds of cut beef, in the freezer. That’s black angus, grass fed, “organic ranchers”, not the Wagyu. Last year was not the Wagyu.
Gerard, if your interested I can get you on the list for 1/4 beef at that price. Actually they told us at dinner the beefs going to 2.10 hang weight.
Also anybody got a CBD connect. These guys have 14500, pound’s of CBG bud, “ organic”. All licensed legal they need to market. The numbers are some of the highest quality and lowest thc numbers I’ve seen or read in the US.
Alas, I’ve no place to freeze and store that much meat. Just an apartment refrigerator with standard freezebox. Freezebox? Squeezebox?
All right then…
You can get a 7 cf model at Lowes for just over $200. They’ll deliver it for less than $100. You’d be surprised how much stuff you can get in one if you categorize everything and pack it in dollar store storage bins. We have a freezer that size (bought during the pandemic for the inflated cost of $500) and there are 8 large bins in it slammed with goodness. One of my better purchases and wish I had gotten one decades before. Very useful.
Just signed up for the next beef harvest from our local favorite. My gal and I went through a 1/4 side in 5 months, we still have a bunch of roasts, hamburger and steaks left and we eat beef 10+ meals/week out of 21. Average price per pound was 4.25 and they threw in bags of bones, a couple hearts and 2 big bags of liver(makes great pate). The meat was delicious BTW
Our smallest freezer out 3 we have cost a couple hundred and easily held the 1/4.
Money well spent. Make sure your gen is 5 x 5 too.
I had three also at the house in Minneapolis. They were handy for discovered deals like the time I got Target’s Christmas dinner-in-a-box for $15, nee $60, on December 26. Turkey, taters, green bean casserole, dressing, pie and gravy. Three of those went in, and two went out to the kids-in-law when their budget was tight.
Don’t soft sell the beef price problem. I buy from the local butcher but when I want a good cut, it’s like pulling teeth to pay for.
Yours and my favorite elite, Bill Gates, has bought up Eastern Washington land and declared both people and cattle to be parasites. The gubmint says out of this side of its mouth: we’re going to cure inflation, and out of the other side it says: you can all go straight to hell, where I hear they serve a damn good tofu burger.
Usually Craigslist is your friend, here. I’ve gotten several freezers off there, and never paid over $100. I looked at Chico Craigslist and the selection was not great. But that can change overnight. Ideally you’ll find one that the owner will deliver.
This one is free, and allegedly it works:

I have no hesitation in buying a 1960’s upright freezer. They will run forever, the price is good and hey, avocado green is coming back!
That’s very tempting but I also don’t have the floor space or, indeed, the electrical outlets. It’s not my 3 bedroom Paradise house but a small 2-bedroom one bath apartment.
One bedroom, 680 square feet for my digs. Every spare inch is filled with audio equipment, books, records, outdoor stuff, 2 bicycles and enough supplies for about 2 months: food, fuel and such. I keep 35 gallons of water outside on the balcony. Absolutely no room for a freezer or really anything else. It’s comfortable enough for one person.
Gotta figure out where your priorities lie. My chest freezer (the most efficient style because when the lid is open the cold doesn’t spill out onto the floor) is about 4.5′ long x 3′ deep x 3′ tall, and it’s out here in my 288 sf office. No kidding, it will change your life to a certain degree, having ample food on hand all the time. Not just meat. In our freezer are also have 4 loaves of bread, hamburger and hot dog buns, 4 gallons of milk, frozen coffee creams, cheeses of every kind, loads of frozen vegetables and fruits. 1 bin has beef, 1 has pork, another has chicken. All inventory is on a list hanging on the wall by the freezer. All bins are numbered and cataloged on the list so I know right where to go to get what I want. In and out in less than a minute and keep all that cold inside. Every couple weeks I shuttle stuff from the chest freezer to the house refrigerator freezer, and add things to the “need to buy” list hanging on the wall. Sure cuts down on the running to the store. This methodry carries over to our 5 larders which are set up similarly. By having everything on hand the only thing we run out of is fresh produce but we are working on getting a handle on that problem. Local food co-ops. FWIW, I would not waste money on an appliance that does not come with a warranty. If the freezer goes out you have a whole lot of food to have to deal with. You can get a new one for $200-300.
I got some Waguy burger at Sam’s on markdown. Put a squirt of soy sauce on it and a dusting of seasoned salt then threw on the grill. Cook on low because these guys are not lean and you can get fire flareups. They were very good hamburgers, no leftovers.
Yes, beef prices went stupid. Used to buy KC strips regularly. I can afford them, but on principle, I refuse to spend that much regularly. I have been buying the sirloin roasts for ~$5/lb, then cut them up myself and throw it on the grill. We have bought boneless chicken breast at Sam’s forever for $2/lb. Now, if you can even find it, $3/lb. Sam’s is regularly out. Thanks Joey.
Still have plenty of ground elk in the freezer. Mix 50/50 with ground beef and throw on the grill. Will be doing that all summer.
New freezers are difficult to source for the past couple years. We’re told folks are in fact stocking deeper, just in case. We just sent 12 fillet minions, a few New York’s, and maybe thirty pounds of ribs up to my wife’s parents.
All the family were up for Mother’s Day, we needed freezer room, so sent that selection up for a family bbq. I use to be the bbq master. My sil, my bil, have shamed me lately in the bbq department. A good bbq chef is someone who pays attention to detail when the meats on the grill.
They both have Treagers, and use pellets. I’m still using an old-school smoker and a Weber bbq. I’ll use the Weber until I die, I prefer charcoal bbqs much better than a propane model. It’s about the taste!
Beef is interesting, few years back we purchased a 1/2, the burger was fantastic, and the finer cuts had a really gamey taste. Like really gamey. We ended up grinding it for the dogs. My daughter and sil, happened to be here when we bbqed the rib eye, Glen was so pissed, that he brought us another 1/2, out of the ranch’s pocket.
These folks farm/ ranch for a living, he would not accept my money. So I had my daughter slip the cash into his desk a few months later. No idea why that specific Angus was foul-tasting. Never happened since that one, that was 2015.
Dirk sed: “No idea why that specific Angus was foul-tasting.”

Maybe there was a buffalo in the woodpile?
Foul tasting Angus: Might have been due to the dressing out before butchering. It’s easy to get something from the coat outside on the meat inside, that taints the taste if not careful.
Correct: the meat must be properly clean. Mammas have scent glands that must be carefully minded when skinning takes place.
Suspect your gents are correct.
