“Decent times make decent people. Indecent times make indecent people.” The New American Digest Commentariat Speaks

Ghostsniper ghost typing while ghost thinking over at The New American Digest member site: Democrat Deer Stare into the Headlights of History

There’s a dark wind blowing and it’s increasing to hurricane velocity and every US citizen with a couple of working brain cells can feel it. They can point to several things they know to be absolutely wrong but they have no idea the quantity of the wrongs. Everybody has their own ideas about what is, and where it comes to gov’t, and none of it is good.

When was the last time you had a conversation with someone about gov’t that was good? Probably never, unless you’re a parasite getting handouts from stolen proceeds. Normal, working people have little need for gov’t. They just put up with it, tolerate it the best they can, avoid it wherever they can, and get on with the business of running their lives, caring for and providing for their families, and trying to have some time for relaxation and reflection as they can.

When left alone the people can be decent to one another and downright helpful at times. Decent times make decent people. Indecent times make indecent people and they are not helpful to anyone and are spiteful and indifferent to others. Even flat-out hateful of others. This is no way to run a country.

In fact, I say this is not even a country at all. It is a collection of people with seemingly nothing in common, no goals except petty selfish ones, and the notion that something evil this way comes. These peoples need guidance. Not overbearing leadership, but real, moral behavior from the top down.

Unfortunately, the pattern that now exists in the upper echelons of gov’t proves this is not possible unless something terribly tragic happens. That it may not be possible to eradicate the bad and replace the bad with the good. Perhaps it is too far gone? Maybe this experiment cannot be fixed. Is it, like I’ve always said, flawed from the beginning, and therefore unfixable and needing to be replaced entirely? I have no answers.

I haven’t read this so, sorry for any errors. I just ghost-typed while thinking.

If you were a member of American Studies Past Present and Future you could be ghost-typing too. After all, how do you know what you think until you see what you say?

9/11 had a brief modicum of national unity until the politicians were good to go to grift again and the military industrial complex spent 20 years looking for a pony in the pile of manure called the Sandbox. If things come apart now it will be brutal.

Very decent essay ghost. I have a different opinion on “Government”. In my view, a free people do not need to be governed. Self government works very well in small communities. I was born and raised in such a community. I do not care to elaborate here and start a rant war.

Any “Government” in a free community would consist of: 1) US Constitution. 2) Citizens committee. 3) Recorders office. 4) Sheriff. 5) Judge.

BBC (I know) Live feed of QEII’s Lying in State:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsWW-9vWiaU

Watch it to see what was once Great Britain. Look at the people paying respect day and night and register who is there and who is almost entirely absent. It’s not just the late Queen headed into the sunset… you’re watching an entire surplus to requirements legacy White population walking into the frame and out of it into looming demographic oblivion…. Unless they summon the courage to throw off their Managerialist Bugmen overlords.

But compare who is there with the Diversity bullshit plastered all over all media. Just for once, a small rent in the matrix.

    • pbird September 16, 2022, 6:19 AM

I don’t even need to watch it to see that.

  • Tom Hyland September 16, 2022, 6:48 AM

The shit is coming down, big time. A vast amount of cops on the streets of Edinburgh, holding back the throngs of citizenry yelling “Wanker!” are african. How did that happen? Thank god Martha’s Vineyard is finally receiving the diversity it has been begging for for so long. See Tucker from last night’s broadcast. One of his best. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7L2eCll6L8s

Biden’s Red Sermon proclaiming war on anyone opposed to the values of the Democratic party is now revving up to mass arrests with the whisper “anonymous informant” to justify it all. From that link:

There are no brakes on this Train to Hell.

The coronavirus lockdowns were a test, and the goyim failed with flying colors. The masses of Americans will do literally anything the government tells them to do on the dumbest possible pretexts. They now know they can do anything to you, so they’re going to do just that.

It’s happening now. The raids have begun. This isn’t going to slow down until it crashes.

No one knows how bad it will get or how long it will last, but eventually, things will turn around. You can’t base an entire society on ridiculous lies and have it be indefinitely sustainable. Eventually, it will fall apart.

The first thing that you need to do, dear reader, is understand that this is happening. We’ve passed “going to happen,” and are now inside of “already happening.”

Ghost you are right, all of us with any life experience feel it much like animals can sense a pending earthquake or storm. We know in our bones that a storm is coming and we can almost hear it in the winds.

I just got done with my morning tour of the internet. Guess what I found.
Ghostsniper is right. Everything is coming undone and coming undone at a terrifying pace. But the internet has become a fun-house mirror. It reflects whatever distortions we choose to see.
So what, exactly, can any of us *do* in the face of a civilization in decline, if not collapse?
Buy guns and grain? Prepare to be part of the survivalist remnant? All well and good if you live in a rural redoubt. Most of us don’t.
The hard truth of it is that there is precious little any of us can do. I can’t make it all stop. Neither can you. I’ve noticed that the news remains the news whether I pay attention to it or not.
And allowing ourselves to consumed with anger, grief, and frustration is less than productive. Throwing up a pissed off post on-line feels a lot like doing something, but it’s just blowing smoke.
I got no answer on the big stuff. I have to focus on the small things I am able to do rather than on the impossible things I’d like to do.

I’ve been working hard this week. Whittier Artists dot com have invited me to be guest artist at their October show. This is a big deal. I’ll be center stage in the gallery, and I have fifteen large stones, and a framed graphic to clean up, touch up, polish, and photograph for the exhibit.
Yesterday I took some time away from the project, and got the bike out for a ten mile cruise down the local bike path. It was a cool bright morning, and the bike trail was mid-week empty. The several people I passed all gave me a wave, a nod, a thumb’s up as I rolled by. Curious. Then it dawned me. All I see is me out for a ride. They see a crusty old fart still out there cranking away on an old-school fat tire cruiser. I got to the end of the trail, and rode over to the Jack-In-the Box in Buena Park. I noticed a guy in the restaurant checking out my ride. We left at the same time, and he stopped to chat. He liked the fat-tire. Asked how old I was. Seventy. Dude was impressed, and that made me feel good.
Point is, as much as the internet would tell us otherwise, the good has not been extinguished in the world. There is still joy to be had if we are willing to have it.

Ghost said, “When left alone the people can be decent to one another and downright helpful at times. Decent times make decent people. Indecent times make indecent people and they are not helpful to anyone and are spiteful and indifferent to others. Even flat-out hateful of others. This is no way to run a country.”

I say, you either are decent or not decent to begin with, either have a good moral character or you don’t. You will either stand up to the test or you won’t. I do not buy into the devil made me do it thought process. You did it because you lacked a moral backbone and wanted to do it. Historically speaking, we once had a very strong common thread that bound us, that was we were a Christian nation. Our downfall began in the 1930’s when it became the goal of communism to infiltrate our seminaries and slowly turn what was once a Christ centered culture into a “me” culture.

The more indecent the times, the more one must strive to do what is right, what is honorable, what they would want done to them.

    • ghostsniper September 16, 2022, 8:50 AM

Joe, would you lie to save your wife’s life?
Would you steal to save your wife’s life?
Would you kill an innocent person to save your wife’s life?

I understand what you meant in what you wrote and I agree.
But what you wrote was done so from the perspective of decent times.

I will say it right out.
In decent times I will not lie, steal or kill an innocent human being.
In indecent times I hope I stay true to my ideals.
I am human, and I have a wife of 38 years, and I will die trying to protect her if necessary and I will kill anyone to save her life.
Do NOT underestimate the word “indecent”.
We are descending into unknown territory, or rather, territory that most of us are unfamiliar with.

      • Joe Krill September 16, 2022, 11:31 AM

Ghostsniper, I guess I could answer your questions with “it depends” or “what if’s”. I will give straightforward answers. 1-yes. 2-yes 3-no. I agree that these are not innocent times but if our society is to have a chance to survive then the honorable, peaceful citizens of our most Blessed Nation must raise our voices with a clarion call of no more lies, no more deceptions, no more blurred lines of what is right or wrong. This call should have gone out years ago from every pulpit in America but it hasn’t. The pablum pukers in the pulpits are for the most part false preachers who have turned evil into good and good into evil.
“We the people” have allowed this to happen and “We the people” have every excuse as to why it has happened. I must relate what I have told a lot of people who have severe problems associated with self inflicted destructive life styles. “If you want to know what the problem is, look in a mirror. If you want to now what the solution is, look in a mirror.”

Pardon’ moi. I easily understand one’s uneasiness with what will have to happen, and what will have to be done. My Fathers generation understood all too well, that what they had to do to win and survive, was as gruesome and immoral as what their enemies were doing. Nature of the Beast. It marked them for life, but I think they knew in the end, that it HAD to be done, if they wanted the twins of civilization, survival, and continuity of freedom. And that is what we face now, like it or not. I think Henry V said something about “Once more into the breach”. Here we go. Abandon all hope of decency……….

Bernie’s campaign claimed the gulags “paid a living wage.” Bernie never repudiated that claim.
    Have THEY repudiated Bernie???

Ashli Babbett thought that we were still living in America . So did Randy Weaver and his dead murdered wife Vicki . We are quite plainly not . It is now Amerika ! As I entered the Menards Lumber store a guard stationed inside the door told me I had to have a mask . I told him to use it himself . As I walked toward the tool aisle he radioed to management . Soon three little pink fisted management clones chased me throughout the store as I took them on a brisk speedwalk for about 5 minutes until I got to my destination . One very self important little fellow came up towards me with his little hands all balled up as if would grab onto me and throw me out physically . I warned him quickly about the repercussions of laying hands on me and he thought better of it . I walked to the checkout and the girl on the register told me she would not wait on me . I threw the screwdriver on the belt and walked out . Still very much a man . I then went to Lowes who had a mask if ya want policy and got my tool .

Slim, you are just the type of effeminate shit stain we want to wash out of this country and into a weedy and unmarked plot. It may or may not happen but we still want it, very much.

  • Casey Klahn September 17, 2022, 5:49 AM

    All good stuff.

My own take at the elephant is that we do have a country, but not a nation. I use the same example as you, Ghost. No unity, and very much at loggerheads with one another.

It’s not coming apart so much as it’s being chiseled apart on purpose. They (marXitz) could not vote themselves in completely even with an amazing cheating mob. They could not educate enough dimwits to believe America bad/ Marx good. So, they do as much derangement as possible, everywhere possible. They want us to break; to react or to run for the hills.

  • Michael September 17, 2022, 9:19 PM

Ghost, I read this essay and the comments and I’m going to chip in my 2 cents.

Who cares and why be afraid of what may or may not be coming? Let go and stop holding on so tight to the earthly things man. I know Gerard professes a faith and so do many of his readers, myself included. What does it matter if we die today or tomorrow? I’m not a fatalist but rather I think it takes more strength to trust in the plans made for you by our Heavenly Father than it does to trust in your own will. I also think it takes more strength and courage to be a decent human being, regardless of the circumstances and times. If you are willing to cross the event horizon and go from being a decent human being to doing what is necessary because of the times, then I have news for you. You were never a decent human being. Being a decent human is about being compassionate, not selfish. Since I’m on the soapbox: Christ, the Creator of the universe, had the power to strike down all the men that hung him on a cross. He chose not to. Instead, He showed us how we are called to live our lives. We are called to care for and have compassion, show forgiveness, and mercy for our fellow human beings. It doesn’t matter what the other person is doing to you. What matters is how you react and how you treat the other human being. Call me a simp, a wuss or any other name you prefer, your opinion doesn’t matter. In the end, the only one I am trying to please is our Heavenly Father. Just know that when you cross over from being decent to indecent, there will be no excuses allowed come judgment day.

With regard to the passing of the Queen: it feels as if Grace has exited the world’s stage.

“It is a collection of people with seemingly nothing in common, no goals except petty selfish ones, and the notion that something evil this way comes.” — Plato notes that this is the beginning of civilization decay: a lack of motivation toward the good. In a more modern sense, America did have something in common when we were all WASP pioneers fleeing the religious wars, plagues, and Mongol/Muslim invasions in Europe.
