Darkness Visible

[Playing Both Videos at Once will let you feel it. If, indeed, you can bear to feel it.]

So many gone. So many lost. So many destroyed. So many broken, shattered, ground back into the dust from which they were made. So many… so many. And still, there are those tolerated demons among us who decree that tolerating open-air drug markets is… what?… kind?… respectful?… nice?… no judgments? … a cure? … a “solution?” No, It is none of these things. None. No, not one. It is Satanic. It is Evil incarnate on the earth. It is the path to The Pit and those places that tolerate it will burn. It is Biblical. It is Judgment. It is the cup of death filled with pride and hate. It is Darkness Visible.

Mixed with obdurate pride and steadfast hate:
At once as far as angels ken he views
The dismal situation waste and wild,
A dungeon horrible, on all sides round
As one great furnace flamed, yet from those flames
No light, but rather darkness visible
Served only to discover sights of woe,
Regions of sorrow, doleful shades, where peace
And rest can never dwell, hope never comes
That comes to all; but torture without end
Still urges, and a fiery deluge, fed
With ever-burning sulfur unconsumed.”

― John Milton, Paradise Lost

I notice at 45 seconds into that first viddie of the darkness of the streets of Philly, the junkies at least still had a payphone that looked operational.

Facetiousness aside, the men and women in positions of power who allow this to take place on the streets as a mark of “kindness,” surely are aiding and abetting evil and will have to answer for their actions.

    • Jack May 25, 2022, 10:42 AM

I don’t care at all for men and women in positions of power unless they are working to help those who put them there and everyone who might still need parenting. But, I would wager that an unholy majority of these people stepped onto this path early in life with no idea where it would lead them. Others have done that too, of course, but through some miracle of God or life or whatever, they did not continue along that path.

These two vids are the saddest things I’ve seen in a long time.

  • oldvet50 May 25, 2022, 10:56 AM

They do seem to be well fed – there were very few skinny ones. I refuse to believe that people are trapped in that life – there is help available if it is wanted and I don’t mean help finding more drugs.

  • billrla May 25, 2022, 11:37 AM

Springsteen made a lot of money off of being a fake. Either that, or, the money went to his head and he started hanging out with the wrong people.

    And then, there’s Tom Hanks.

    • Vanderleun May 25, 2022, 12:25 PM

Don’t care who they are or what they thought/said/did then to when to now to future. Don’t care about the creator if I can use the creation to my purpose.

      • billrla May 25, 2022, 2:45 PM

I’m not criticizing your use of Springsteen, here. The juxtaposition is apt. I’m just commenting on his particular turn toward the dark side, if there ever was a turning.

From the comments on the first vid:

“As someone who lives in a place that is considered to be a third-world country, Romania to be more specific , i could have never expected to see something like this in a country that calls itself “the greatest country on earth” or “Land of the free” .The US government is spending billions to invade other countries , but has the worst health care system in the civilized world. I remember American tourist visiting Romania and telling me how great the land of the free is . I really don t know how you measure your freedoms . People get shot in the street by police for no reasons , you have the most incarcerated population in the world .Police is stealing money from ordinary ppl (Forfeiture Laws) , government is evicting ppl out of their own houses. There are school shootings almost weekly . I really don t understand what is going on there . . . . . but its bad . .real bad”

    • Mike Austin May 25, 2022, 6:28 PM

What you are seeing is a civilization in its death throes. As it thrashes about like a dying rabid animal it smashes to pieces all within its reach. Those pieces of human debris are simply collateral damage.

And the solution is…that there is no solution. This is not the first time that a civilization went to its destruction with no understanding of why and with no ability to save itself. Those who wallow in ignorance will die screaming. Those who understand will die in sorrow and remorse. But they will die nonetheless.

Last year illegal drugs killed almost twice as many Americans as were killed in the entire Vietnam war. Every year this happens sometimes a few thousand more or less but every year. We could stop China from sending deadly drugs to Mexico where the cartel sends them to the U.S. With sufficiently stringent laws we could cut the drugs crossing our borders too. But we won’t. If it involved the 2nd amendment the Democrats would be all over this but it doesn’t. It’s just a hundred thousand or so of our American youth who die every year so who cares. In fact the Democrats give them free needles and pipes to encourage their deadly habit.

Tomorrow if congress passed a law giving Chine 30 days to end all participation in the illegal drug trade in the U.S. under the penalty that we could no longer buy or import anything from them THEN it would stop. If tomorrow the congress declared war (no not like the war on poverty but an actual declaration of war) on Mexico’s drug cartel’s shut the border down 100% and shoot all invaders it would seriously cut into drug trafficking. But they won’t because there is no money or power in it for them.

Years ago when my own kids got into drugs I stated that it should be legal for any parent to shoot and kill any drug pusher who gives or sells drugs to their children. That would put a serious crimp in this epidemic. But they will continue to do nothing effective.

    • ghostsniper May 25, 2022, 1:12 PM

Change the word “drugs” to “alcohol” and you’d end up the same way.
Some people choose to self destruct and there’s probably nothing that can be done about it.
Nobody is forcing anyone to take drugs or drink alcohol and I’ve never seen anyone PUSH drugs.
Getting the gov’t involved ALWAYS makes things worse. ALWAYS.

      • OneGuy May 25, 2022, 4:19 PM

You are then saying that you wouldn’t even try to pressure China to stop sending these drugs to the Mexican cartel and your reason is because the government shouldn’t get involved??? Seriously? IMHO it would be a win/win. Because if China stopped providing the drugs it would decrease supply and cut deaths But if China refused then we bring manufacturing home to our own shores. I am not a fan of the bury your head in the sand choice.

        • ghostsniper May 25, 2022, 7:28 PM

The US gov’t is the biggest drug “pusher” the world has ever known. Living in reality is not burying ones head in the sand, but living in a false reality is.

          • ghostsniper May 26, 2022, 4:27 AM

How many times have you been arrested for pedophilia?

        • jiminalaska May 26, 2022, 9:17 AM

Not speaking for Ghost, only for myself, but I strongly believe the most basic human right is to go to hell any way you want.

If you want to do or overdo drugs, alcohol, whatever, your choice, should not be restricted or controlled by the government. Your choice the wrong choice? The gene pool’s a wee bit cleaner.

What you do, as long as you don’t hurt others, only you should decide. If you drive a car, hit someone, your at fault and need pay the price, no matter if you’ve been drinking or drugging or not.

If you rob a store or a person, steal cash, clothes whatever, your at fault and need pay the price, no matter if you you stole to support a habit, stick it to the white man, or just want to do a bit of wildin’.

Most basic human right is to go to hell any way you want, but the government shouldn’t bail you out or use my tax money to support your stupid.

          • ghostsniper May 26, 2022, 11:15 AM

Seems emotionalism is the norm these days and the lazy folk want the gov’t to “do something”!

If you some how ban a drug people will do another drug.
So they ban all drugs, people then huff glue.
So they ban all the glue, people bag transmission fluid.
And on and on and on.
I guess if everything was banned then nobody would do anything and the world would finally be a wonderful place, even though it already was for most people.
IOW, because “some” people do bad things “all” people must suffer.

  • wildman May 25, 2022, 2:39 PM

Indonesia has the right idea. your caught smuggling drugs, you are sentenced to death after a short trial.

    • Mike Austin May 25, 2022, 6:33 PM

No. Indonesia is far too compassionate. Anyone caught with drugs on their person or in their bloodstream must be put to death on the spot. Drugs are the killers of souls and civilizations. To allow them in your nation is like willingly living with a rabid beast.

  • KCK May 25, 2022, 2:46 PM

I got about 10 seconds into the first one, with the junkie girl crying, and couldn’t bear anymore.

2 thoughts: goddamn the pusher man; fire the entire Philly city council, and seize their pay retroactively, and distribute that sum to these homeless. It won’t take them off of drugs but it will take the politicians to school.

  • Rev.Bro. Generik Broderick May 25, 2022, 5:06 PM

Can’t say what I really think. Hint, we need a quicker picker upper.

  • Arty May 25, 2022, 5:10 PM

Compare that first video with any Japanese city. What a difference. I’m not saying the Japanese are perfect but they’re not meth-head pigs either.

I haven’t got a clue what the Springsteen/Hanks video is about. A couple of the scenes looked pretty gay though.

    • Mike Austin May 25, 2022, 6:34 PM

      They were meant to.

    • Gordon Scott May 25, 2022, 10:03 PM

From the movie of the same name, about a gay lawyer fired by his firm allegedly for having AIDS. There’s also a rather horrible Neil Young song also. Be glad Gerard didn’t post that.

Now, soon we will have the movie about the trans MD who was booted from his partnership because he got the monkeypox.

As I have said before–Bill and Hillary are kingpins in the international drug world–up there on the top!
Question: just a few weeks after leaving office, why did Bill and Hill go to Vietnam “for vacation”? On their return trip home why did they detour and go to the primary drug distribution center in the Pacific, stopping at distribution headquarters in Port Douglas and Cairns Australia? Don’t tell me Hillary wanted to go snorkeling on the Barrier Reef!! IMHO they were cementing drug deals made with the Vietnamese while in office. Port Douglas/Cairns is internationally famous for drugs distribution.

  • Gordon Scott May 25, 2022, 9:58 PM

I used to wonder why the west coast cities got so bad with the homeless and drug crap. Yes, Philly has its problems also. But Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, LA–they all seemed to go crazy at the same time. And, lately, Phoenix has about a thousand people camped near the state capitol. Mesa does not tolerate homeless camps, nor do the other burbs like Scottsdale and Tempe.

I found out that a 3-judge panel of the good old 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in 2018 that cities cannot roust the homeless unless there’s a bed for every bum and bumette. The court refused an en-banc hearing, and it never went higher.

So in Alaska, Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Idaho and Montana–and Guam–this ruling applies. Now I guess the west coast states and Hawaii embraced it with vigor. Arizona is quite a bit less tolerant. Idaho is full of retired cops, and let’s face it, being homeless in Alaska and Montana is not appealing.

Now why these states did not identify the homes of these three judges and start busing the bums to their block, complete with new tents, food, and other future debris, I dunno. I mean, if I were Governor Abbott, I’d ship the illegals to Martha’s Vineyard and Hyanisport, and Delaware and Connecticut and the Hamptons. Again, with tents, and rented portapotties in the better neighborhoods. Have meals delivered.

    • KCK May 26, 2022, 5:33 AM

Don’t forget the West Coast has a mild climate.

The courts are now the lunatic fringe of society. I trust a homeless guy more than I’d trust one of the judges.

    • Dirk May 26, 2022, 12:49 PM

Gordon, that’s correct, which is why the Sierra’s the Warners, the Cascades are turned into Hobo camps. Trash piled high. Zero accountability. Forestry BLM and local LEO’s have one tool. They CAN force a move every two weeks, the “ Urban Campers” must physically move!

The down side, these people are mostly PIGS, the garbage left in the last encampment is usually exact to the garbage piles left in the newest camping area. Local Judges recognize scratching a citation for litterings never going to solve the problem, mostly those tickets are being dismissed

  • Dirk May 26, 2022, 7:14 AM

Ain’t that something! Seems like we are seeing govt sanctioned murder of govt “well dem” controlled population centers.

Drug dealers don’t kill their clients, no money doing that. This is whole scale govt murder.

Sanctioned at the top of the food chain, across the world, when a govt in DC open entire borders to drug traffickers, when the drug mules are a catch and release tennis match, nothing more.

I’m sorry but the wrong people are dying. The 80/90% good coke and other drugs seem to make it to DC without any issues.

The Chinese and other govt street killing drugs, seem to only make it to the shitty streets of city’s, far removed from DC

Theirs only one solution, the WRONG people are dying by the thousands.

Hell it’s not even a black pill day, this is just what I see, after 27 years on the streets.

    This IS by design!

    • Terry May 26, 2022, 8:53 AM

      “This IS by design!”

Yes it is by design. Do a small bit of research into the NAFTA agreement and the Bush family. This whole drug issue will become crystal clear. And yes, Reagan was part of it. Reality can be hard.

Add Mr. Cheney into the research also. There are many, many other coat & tie creeps as well.

We, the American people pay for and die for these creeps that we elect and get appointments.

      • Dirk May 26, 2022, 12:42 PM

Gentleman agree history’s repeating, we’re to the point that research is not required, it’s just how it is.

‘ I-wish it need not have happened in my time said Frodo.” So do I said Gandalf,
And so do all who live to see Times.
But that is not for them to decide.
All we have to decide is what to do with the Time that is Given “Us”!

        “Fellowship Of The Rings”.

I “ lifted” this one from someone here, apologies if I recalled who,,,, Id share who.

I find comfort in this simple message, I wrote it in my note book, I visit it often. For me it has meaning.

  • Bear Claw Chris Lapp May 26, 2022, 10:34 AM

It’s all about the money and power mostly money. If it is your idol you know the outcome. If all did not the world would be a better place. Many one day will be wailing and gnashing teeth. Some will not.
