Who Am I? by Carl Sandburg
My head knocks against the stars.
My feet are on the hilltops.
My finger-tips are in the valleys and shores of
universal life.
Down in the sounding foam of primal things I
reach my hands and play with pebbles of
destiny.
I have been to hell and back many times.
I know all about heaven, for I have talked with God.
I dabble in the blood and guts of the terrible.
I know the passionate seizure of beauty
And the marvelous rebellion of man at all signs
reading “Keep Off.”
My name is Truth and I am the most elusive captive
in the universe.

The Vault
Take It Where You Find It
Men saw the stars at the edge of the sea
They thought great thoughts about liberty
Poets wrote down words that did fit
Writers wrote books
Thinkers thought about it
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
Many’s the road I have walked upon
Many’s the hour between dusk and dawn
Many’s the time
Many’s the mile
I see it all now
Through the eyes of a child
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
And close your eyes
Leave it all for a while
Leave the world
And your worries behind
You will build on whatever is real
And wake up each day
To a new waking dream
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Change, change come over
Change come over
Talkin’ about a change
Change, change
Change come over, now
Change, change, change come over
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light

I’d include “It Can’t Happen Here” by Sinclair Lewis, too. Lewis, like all so-called progressives, got it wrong when he assigned responsibility for the authoritarian government to a rabid right-wing movement. It’s always the oh-so-tolerant-left that cannot abide anyone breaking cadence with their goose-stepping ways.
As for Amazon’s Alexa: I am completely baffled why any sane person would have one of those devices in his house. (He typed as the NSA recorded everyone of his keystrokes). Oh, well…..
Those quotes are taken from the Foreword to Neil Postman’s AMUSING OURSELVES TO DEATH. It is an absolute must-read for anyone who wants to understand how we got to *Clown World 2019*. Like Christopher Lasch, who wrote the equally prescient THE CULTURE OF NARCISSISM, Postman was a clear-eyed old-school liberal who saw the media-/entertainment-driven behavioral-sink that America was sliding into, and warned us about it *decades* ago.
I was gonna comment on this but Siri said I shouldn’t.
When did Jeb Bush start selling blenders.
Blendtec is the best blender out there.
Sorry got distracted the View was on.
“What you need is a gram of Soma.”
“All the advantages of Christianity and alcohol, none of their defects.”
“And do remember that a gram is better than a damn.”
They went out,laughing.
Huxley,the eternal Savage,rules.
The final verdict isn’t in on Orwell v. Huxley. I suspect the 2020’s will supply it.

Richard, it may interest you to know that NSA is hiring.
To apply, just message your resume anywhere.
@H:
Groovy! And the bestest part of that is that there’s no need for an interview because they already know everything.
“Siri”. “Please open the link for ‘American Digest'”.
“I’m sorry John, there is no such link”.

Made my day.
