WHEN in the course of human Events, it becomes necessary….
Booomer Sunday Service: Let The Mystery Be
byVanderleunonAugust 29, 2021
Everybody is a wonderin’ what and where they all came from Everybody is a worryin’ ’bout where They’re gonna go when the whole thing’s done But no one knows for certain and so it’s all the same to me I think I’ll just let the mystery be
Some say once you’re gone you’re gone forever And some say you’re gonna come back Some say you rest in the arms of The Saviour if in sinful ways you lack Some say that they’re comin’ back in a Garden, bunch of carrots and little sweet peas I think I’ll just let the mystery be
Everybody is a wonderin’ what and where they all came from Everybody is a worryin’ ’bout where They’re gonna go when the whole thing’s done But no one knows for certain and so it’s all the same to me I think I’ll just let the mystery be
Some say they’re goin’ to a place called Glory and I ain’t saying it ain’t a fact But I’ve heard that I’m on the road to Purgatory and I don’t like the sound of that Well, I believe in love and I live my life accordingly But I choose to let the mystery be
Everybody is a wonderin’ what and where they all came from Everybody is a worryin’ ’bout where They’re gonna go when the whole thing’s done But no one knows for certain and so it’s all the same to me I think I’ll just let the mystery be I think I’ll just let the mystery be
One thing for certain. When you get to heaven you’re gonna’ hear strings.
Thank you, Gerard. This was the best thing I’ve seen all week. I already played it twice. The wife just got home so I’ll make it three.

Thank you Gerard, I just listened to this lovely song on Neo’s site and then called my wife in to listen to it with me. We are good go to Church Christians over the mid part of our 70’s and the song rings true, ” just let the mystery Be” and embrace the mystery of life, how sweet and good it is. A most appreciated song in these days of stuff that seem to be more of the same old crap humanity has been doing since before history and we wonder what went wrong.
Jewel, one could consider Iris’ song as an agnostic hymn, but the song could also be considered with the thought expressed by C.S. Lewis in the beginning of Chapter 12 of Mere Christianity titled “Faith.”
If this chapter means nothing to you, if it seems to be trying to answer questions you never asked, drop it at once. Do not bother about it at all. There are certain things in Christianity that can be understood from the outside, before you have become a Christian. But there are a great many things that cannot be understood until after you have gone a certain distance along the Christian road…Whenever you find any statement in Christian writings which you can make nothing of, do not worry. Leave it alone.
Great song. I kind of like Norm Macdonald’s conception of the afterlife, where he will play a harp on a cloud and look down to see all his friends getting raped by the devil for eternity

First saw Iris Dement live about a week after 9/11.
Her songs had always tugged on my heart before the concert, afterwards they have become indelible.
Her old stuff is so good and touching and full of fond memories, I can forgive her for her recent B acon L ettuce M urder sandwich nonsense.

Who Am I? by Carl Sandburg
My head knocks against the stars.
My feet are on the hilltops.
My finger-tips are in the valleys and shores of universal life.
Down in the sounding foam of primal things I reach my hands and play with pebbles of destiny.
I have been to hell and back many times.
I know all about heaven, for I have talked with God.
I dabble in the blood and guts of the terrible.
I know the passionate seizure of beauty
And the marvelous rebellion of man at all signs reading “Keep Off.”
My name is Truth and I am the most elusive captive in the universe.
Duty, Beauty, Liberty, Country, Honor, Family, Faith — Plus a few simple easy to follow rules for guys
Men saw the stars at the edge of the sea
They thought great thoughts about liberty
Poets wrote down words that did fit
Writers wrote books
Thinkers thought about it
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
Many’s the road I have walked upon
Many’s the hour between dusk and dawn
Many’s the time
Many’s the mile
I see it all now
Through the eyes of a child
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
And close your eyes
Leave it all for a while
Leave the world
And your worries behind
You will build on whatever is real
And wake up each day
To a new waking dream
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Change, change come over
Change come over
Talkin’ about a change
Change, change
Change come over, now
Change, change, change come over
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light

Agnostics have a good hymn!

Just a thought regarding letting the mystery be.

Can’t hardly see the keyboard…. Damned if I’ll let them take it without a fight.
I’m with you lance.
Not without a bloody damn fight.
Nice!
