And the band played on . . .

Oh, great googa-looga, can’t you hear me talking to you?

How Low Can You Go? – Kunstler   “Joe Biden’s” proxy war against Russia in Ukraine isn’t working out. It was flamboyantly stupid from the get-go. We deliberately broke the Minsk agreements for a cease-fire in the Donbas to goad the Russians into action. NATO didn’t have the troops or the political mojo to back up its US-inspired bluster. Our financial warfare blew back in our faces and actually benefited the Russian economy and its currency, the ruble. The billions of dollars in weapons we’re sending into the war are easily interdicted in transport, or else are getting loose in a world of non-state maniacs ranging from the Taliban to al Qaeda to drug cartels.

Meanwhile, Russia steadfastly grinds out a victory on-the-ground that will leave it in control of the Black Sea and will reveal the USA’s lost capacity to impose its will around the world. In other words, our Ukraine project “to weaken Russia” brought on an epochal shift in the balance of power to our enormous disadvantage. This is on top of more than twenty years of US military fiascos from Afghanistan, to Iraq, to North Africa, to Syria which demonstrated our reckless disregard for human life and a gross inability to carry out a mission. This aggregate failure and display of weakness leaves us vulnerable to Chinese aggression in the Pacific. There is even spooky chatter now about China venturing to invade Australia, Japan, and the USA mainland. Yes, really.

The 2nd Amendment will defend the USA mainland, the rest of it… not so much.

Great Funk. Music is the language of the world

They won’t have to invade. California, Oregon, and Washington States will invite China in to save them from the “evil fascist capitalists” once the north east begins to burn. Certainly within the realm of plausibility.

“There is even spooky chatter now about China venturing to invade Australia, Japan, and the USA mainland.”

So Kunstler is a Kook when he’s not being sensible about shit he actually has the slightest clue about.

Chinkies absolutely not averse to gaining more influence and playing 4D chess with 1-Dimensional Ruling Class Retards (that would be our ruling classes). Anyone who thinks they’d want to put themselves in the position of having to actually rule from day to day over deracinated face-furnitured Juggaloes (Thanks, Severian at Founding Questions) needs their heads checked.

Of course they will take Taiwan sooner or later to save the Taiwanese from Drag Queen Story Hour and all the other depredations of GloboHomo GAE. Hopefully without a shot. Historical ‘Rights and Wrongs’ ain’t in it. At this point in the degeneracy it’s all about the Lesser of the Two Weevils as the late not great but could write Patrick O’Brian would have put it.

To be fair, it’s vanishingly rare to find an Ashkenazi commentator who doesn’t have a boner for Immediate Global Nuclear War with the Russian Bear Right Now, but I guess it’s too much to expect him to be sane about the Chinese of which he knows less than nothing. Guess at a subconscious level he needs USA to have an existential enemy to keep the military spending up so that Flyover White Boys will always be on tap with high tech gear in case Iran needs chastisement.

That’s pretty cynical. You’re probably right.

It is. And allowing for my shamelessly-held uncouth beyond-the-pale biases I still figure it’s not very wrong.

Frankly, I’d rather be driven down to perdition by miscalculating people with functioning brains and good educations like Bethmann Hollweg and Grey rather than the Marching Morons on all sides of the acceptable political spectrum in the West.

The only words Kunstler wrote was “there’s spooky chatter about China invading the US.” Kunstler is talking about how things are going down. And he’s quite the observant reporter. He writes a column aptly titled “ClusterFuckNation” every Monday and Friday and I read it regularly. He’s been VERY good the past couple of years. I think lots of folks here at AD know him and appreciate his offerings.

I’m sure he has his good points. Not belonging to the Kagan Cabal/Qahal is a humongous plus to be sure.

That being said, unless a commentator’s default position in the Current Year is ‘Why precisely must we have a dog in this fight? And how do OUR actions look from Beijing as well as Moscow?’ larded with several skip loads of self-awareness and humility, said commentator is still part of the problem.

I’m not saying that the Other is always better or more right (although often is given late stage Western Civ collapse decadence) or that the default position should be to kowtow to Furriners… just that all the knee jerk Givens need to be inspected very closely.

          Yeah… whatever.

    • jiminalaska June 17, 2022, 9:16 PM

Hum. Kunster’s essay contained one sentence about China. You got a five paragraph rant out of it. Whatever works, I guess.

      • ThisIsNotNutella June 17, 2022, 9:30 PM

The default slapdash throwaway assumed unexamined given that there is always some nefarious existential enemy out there in the Big Bad World which the United States needs to be paranoid about strikes me as rant-worthy.

For sure, it’s so much easier than looking into the Domestic Abyss and then you just never know what you might find staring back at you. Anything but!

        YMMV of course.

Then again, I’m not (just missed out on the honour) a Boomer.

You just HAD to drop that last line, didn’t you?
The smartest man on the internet said almost the exact same thing last year.
I wiped his envious nose in it.

The Chinese (to be found under beds everywhere) have an idiom about ruining a perfectly good painting of a snake by adding legs to it.

If Jim was a Karen, I wouldn’t have said it!

Thanks for that song, how appropriate for today!
I haven’t heard that song in quite some time!
    Real nice video also!
