“There are a lot more good people than bad.” Unquestionable. Undeniable. So very obvious to those with eyes. But…

The other side is so loud, so obnoxious, so in-your-face, so omnipresent, so unavoidable, so disturbing, so filthy, so vulgar, so ignorant that a normal man feels subsumed, overwhelmed, outnumbered and defeated—and these pass through his thoughts and his mind before the battle has really begun.

The answer is not to be more obnoxious, more in-your-face, more unavoidable…and so on. The answer is—wait for it—to live a normal life. To love your kids, your wife, your nation, your friends, your God, your very life—to love being alive!

Our enemies hate this with a driving and burning passion. They hate life itself. They wish to destroy it in the womb, in the schools, in the streets, in the culture—everywhere. They are at war with us, certainly—but they were at war with God first.

You cannot defeat them with kind words, with poetry, with debate, with flowers, with kindness, with forgiveness. That way lies surrender, the boxcar, the Gulag. They are only defeated with the tools Jesus Himself ordered—yes, ordered—you to get: a sword.

So get one. And stop complaining. Go into battle with a heart full of cheer.

    And win.

I was sitting in a day spa waiting for a facial my sister paid for, when a lovely elderly black woman sat in an adjacent chair. And she sneezed.
She apologized and said it wasn’t COVID. Just allergies. I said, “Isn’t it sad that the sniffles have been criminalized?” She agreed.
We had a marvelous conversation, each of us enjoying the fact that neither of us would have gone to a day spa if someone else hadn’t spent a lot of money for something we’d never pay for ourselves.
Just freely talking to people again, without social distancing, without masks, without fear. How long it lasts? Who knows. Every day is good when we can do this.

      • Mike Austin September 27, 2021, 6:15 PM

You reveled in being a human being again. Beautiful.

    • Terry September 27, 2021, 7:03 PM

Very well stated Mike. Very well.

    • Anthony Gaudio September 28, 2021, 2:59 PM

    Excellent. Just…excellent.

Mike said, “The answer is—wait for it—to live a normal life. To love your kids, your wife, your nation, your friends, your God, your very life—to love being alive!”

Agreed. In the midst of death, it becomes more important than ever to choose the way of life.

As they say…The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

    • Mike Austin September 27, 2021, 5:18 PM

Understood. I hereby volunteer to be the grease.

  • azlibertarian September 27, 2021, 4:47 PM

“…There are a lot more good people than bad.”

Agreed. This idea is why I’ve never been afraid of an armed populace.

While it might seem that the “bad people” rise to high offices and are allowed undue influence, one of the miracles of the internet is that if you allow yourself to look, you can see the good people exist, like our host and his assembled commenters.

    • Mike Austin September 27, 2021, 5:23 PM

So true. So very true. My task, small as it is, is not to convince anyone. That is quite impossible. Easier to teach calculus to a baboon.

My task is to “show the flag.” To allow those yet unheard and unnoticed to realize that there are others “out there” who understand, who agree, who get it.

An “armed populace” gives Liberty, trust and peace.

  • SLM September 27, 2021, 5:36 PM

OK – I guess I’ll be the one to spoil the party. All the craziness of 1969 was fairly universally seen as an aberration. Now the crazies are at the helm. Our situation today is dire and the outcome is not guaranteed to be positive even though it is true that the good people outnumber the bad people.

    • BobF September 28, 2021, 11:10 AM

I have to agree. Those were incidents and the important aspect is that they were resounding rejected by almost everyone. If those happened today there waould be large numbers demonstrating approval and even larger numbers approving in silence. I am not optimistic.

  • EX-Californian Pete September 27, 2021, 6:07 PM

I have to admit, that made me a bit misty, and on a day that is always really difficult for me to NOT get misty-eyed- exactly 11 years ago today I lost my Mom, and three days later, my Pop passed away. I just figure that they loved each other so deeply, and so much that they couldn’t possibly spend more than 3 days apart from each other, no matter what. And that’s a love story that’s mighty hard to top.

Nowadays- we now have to deal daily with -Mistrust. Division. Fear. Paranoia. Separatism. Hatred. The “Us and Them” syndrome that permeates our society. People constantly looking for ways to divide ourselves from one another and call each other “the enemy.” I’m sick to death of it, and I want that to end. The above video illustrates how that’s been happening so perfectly for a long time, and (hopefully) makes us all take a step back and reconsider (and remember) our true values, morals, and goals.
I’m pretty sure we’re all on the same page, despite a few minor opinions.

Example- me and GhostSniper. Yeah, we bust each other’s chops sometimes with our differences, but basically hold the same values and outlooks on what’s right & wrong. The guy is a “gunny” like me, and has a lot of similarities on societal and political standards. I refrain from doing any of the “eff-you” stuff he posts, but I fully respect his being hardcore and that standing ground that he’s known for. Times are weird, and we’ve never been in a “cultural” situation like we are now.

Ghost, we have never met in person, and you have no idea how huge, ugly/hideous, or well-trained and equipped I am, and am becoming more so daily to protect our American way of life. I’m pretty sure that if & when we might meet, the only argument we might have be over the brand and “serving temperature” of the beer or whiskey we might consume while finding out the ratio of how much we have in common versus what differences we might have. That’s not meant to be intimidating, just a few facts.
On that note, I’d like to extend an invitation to meet up- I’ll pay for the plane fare here, you pay for the return flight. And I’ll bet we spend the first hour or 2 arguing like schoolkids, and then become friends for life. I’m in East Central Ohio- nearest airport is Pittsburgh, PA. I’ll hereby wager that after we meet and know each other personally, I’d be one of those guys that might step up and take a bullet for ya- if & when the SHTF might happen.
Wouldn’t be my first GSW- I’ve had 2 so far.

My point? Stand together in these difficult times.

    • Humdeedee September 27, 2021, 7:00 PM

Ex-Cali Pete, yep, the video made me misty-eyed, but your comment got me teary-eyed. I love this blog and all the regular commenters, who I enjoy reading just as much. Thank you.

    • Terry September 27, 2021, 7:12 PM

We either stand together or die alone.

    • ghostsniper September 28, 2021, 4:17 AM

ghost extends a hand in truce.

      • EX-Californian Pete September 28, 2021, 9:24 AM

        Hand accepted and respected.

Now take yourself a freakin’ vacation, will ya? From what you said earlier, you’re WAY overdue.

Working too much without taking some quality time off is called “killing yourself to live.”

        • Mike Austin September 28, 2021, 11:56 AM

Indeed. Even Jesus took “time off”, and wandered the desert on His own. The men He had created tried even His patience. It was good to get away.

For my money it is not deserts that refresh, but jungles. But that’s just me.

Blow up your TV throw away your paper
Go to the country, build you a home
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches
Try and find Jesus on your own

“There’s a hole in daddy’s arm, where all the money goes…”

  • OldTexan September 28, 2021, 7:02 AM

Thank you for the fine story about 1969 and folks who are kind and thoughtful.

  • tim September 28, 2021, 7:12 AM

Wait, does this mean we have to relive the ’70’s!?!

    • ghostsniper September 28, 2021, 7:51 AM

Take the army part out and I’d gladly do the 70’s over again.

  • Dirk September 28, 2021, 7:47 AM

    Much much wisdom here! Congrats.

  • Dirk September 28, 2021, 8:00 AM

Truth, what saddens me is simply this. “WE” are not prepared for what’s coming.

    Dirk

    • Mike Austin September 28, 2021, 1:10 PM

Perhaps. Perhaps not. How prepared is the other side pray tell? They think we are a joke. That we can be insulted and ridiculed and threatened and killed with no consequence. Oh really. Has such a thing ever occurred in all of History? The Left has forgotten—if they ever knew—that their enemy has a vote.

I hope the Left likes surprises. I really do.

  • Sam L. September 28, 2021, 8:01 AM

    Thanks, Gerard, for that UPPER!!

  • enn ess September 28, 2021, 11:02 AM

It seems as though you need to go out of your way to find people like these anymore, but they are all to common when you live in the real world. There are good people and bad people, thats why we have prisons, and Washington DC. Both are so we can keep track of the bad people.

  • Mike Austin September 28, 2021, 11:49 AM

I love it: Washington DC as a roach trap. We at least know where the vermin reside and work. Imagine, if you will, that for one year Washington DC was empty of workers, and cut off from electricity and water. Can you imagine the breath of freedom that would blow over the world?

Heracles and the Augean Stables come to mind.

    • ghostsniper September 28, 2021, 12:04 PM

The gov’t could vanish entirely today and most of us would be better off.
      The parasites would suffer.
As far as I’m concerned, better the parasites suffer than the rest of us suffer the parasites.

      • Mike Austin September 28, 2021, 12:20 PM

Yep. Kill the host, and the parasites die.

  • Mike Seyle September 28, 2021, 2:59 PM

I finally Just. Pressed. Play this morning. It’s getting late now, and I can’t get it out of my head.

  • John Venlet September 21, 2022, 9:57 AM

I recall the story related by Foard in the first video, though I think I read it rather than viewed it, and remember thinking how heartwarming and encouraging the tale related made me feel. I was unfamiliar with the second story related in the second video til now, and it brought my eyes to watering. Wonderful!

  • Robert Moffett September 21, 2022, 10:42 AM

Thanks a lot for this I really appreciate it and subscribed to his channel.
