The Japanese: Nuked Too Much or Not Enough?

I don’t even want to get into the cross-cultural subtexts concerning children and fleshy, pendulous objects spraying milk on them from above. As the Japanese would say, “らくのうマザーズCM らくのう牛乳 牛乳ビーム編 ! “

Alert the Authorities!

I herd that UFOs are usually for stealing and mutilating cows, but I guess these cows weren’t taking any bull.

The important thing to understand is that most Japanese people hate milk’s taste and texture, and find it hard to digest. But they make kids drink it every day so they’ll grow up big and tall, like post-war Japanese. (They actually have teachers watching kids eat in class in elementary school, so they can make sure the kids all drink their ration of school milk.)

So once the ad agency is selling something that they personally find disgusting, they usually go full bizarre. In this case, I honestly think that the UFO is a sign that milk is still seen as something associated with foreigners and invasion.

Fun fact: the most popular milk flavoring in Japan and Korea is “banana.” Which is why banana-flavored milk is starting to show up in my local grocery’s dairy case.

That was, simultaneously, the funniest AND most appalling thing ever.

That didn’t go as wrong as it might have.
